Settler Movement Funded by NY Fabric Store Outfit Seems to Include Murderer of Arabs

Here is an album of pictures from inside the "Peace House," the Israeli settlement in Hebron that was evacuated by Israeli soldiers last week. Below on the left is Nadia Matar, the woman who has urged settlement supporters to give money to the Central Fund, which is housed at a fabric store on 6th Avenue. Matar wrote:

"We urge you to be a partner in... battles for the Land of Israel. Help us continue our activities... We are more determined than ever to work for the Land of Israel.

People have asked us over the past few days what the best way is to donate to Women in Green. Our preferred method is by check. U.S. dollar checks are tax deductible only if they are made out to the "Central Fund for Israel".

Just who are Americans supporting with contributions to the Central Fund of Israel? Well, Matar and Women in Green seem to be closely allied with the guy on the right with the mike. He's identified as Uzi Sharbuf, giving a "nightly war briefing" at the "Peace House." Peace, war, we're confused. Who's Uzi? The Times reported that an Uzi Sharbaf murdered Arabs.

Last month Gershom Gorenberg said that the murderer is in the house:

One long-term resident is reportedly ex-terrorist Uzi Sharbaf, who served time in the 1980s for an attack on Hebron's Islamic University that left three people dead and for attempting to blow up Palestinian buses.

Wikipedia:

[The late Chaim Herzog, former Israeli President, commuted the sentences of]  Menachem Livni, Uzi Sharbaf and Shaul Nir, members of the Jewish Underground... [who] were sentenced to life imprisonment in 1985 for the 1984 murder of four Palestinians in the West Bank town of Hebron.

Jesus Phil, he served his time, what do you want?

  2. LD says:

I know Phil, why can't you forgive a murderer? A murderer who is fanning the flames of hatred inherent to the settlers? A murderer who is going to help facilitate more murderers?

Jesus Phil. Gosh. You're so insensitive. He's just a murderer! He served his time! Don't you konw that when you "serve your time" you're absolved from everything!?

  3. well, spotted, Adam Horowitz. I see no indication that Phil wrote this, since it is tagged horowitz.

Settlement Extremists Threaten Israel’s Moral Substance

    Posted on Dec 11, 2008
    By William Pfaff

Israel today is as much the prisoner of the Palestinians as the Palestinians are prisoners of Israel. Israel’s imprisonment is moral and political, in that it has now seemingly lost the ability to extricate itself from the dilemmas created by successive governments’ cowardice and connivance with the settlement lobby’s campaign to seize all of Palestine for Israel, and the American government’s passive acquiescence in this.

The steady expansion of nominally illegal colonies into the Palestinian territories, which previous governments were unwilling to check (one cannot say truthfully they were unable to check it; they simply chose not to), has gone on to the point where the political parties are now incapable of disengaging from the settlement enterprise.

The goal of the settler movement—there is no secret about it—is the conquest of all Palestine, logically requiring expulsion of the Palestinians from the entire country, or their reduction to a permanent condition of subordination in which they would be deprived of elementary political rights…..

The New York Times reports that the arrest of trader Bernie Madoff, who supposedly ripped off his investors for $50 billion, also resulted in the closing in one of those anti-assimilation foundations that send kids to Israel. Notice how readily the times passes over the foundation's anti-assimilation goals as if not wanting to be an American was the most natural thing in the world.

"The news was equally devastating for the Robert I. Lappin Charitable Foundation in Salem, Mass., which works to reverse the dilution of Jewish identity through intermarriage and assimilation by sending teenagers to Israel and supporting other Jewish education efforts.

The foundation was forced on Friday to dismiss its small staff and shut down its programs to cope with its losses in the Madoff funds, according to Deborah Coltin, its executive director.

“We’ve canceled everything as of today, everything,” she said tearfully.

    Anti-Arab hopeful irks Israel's Netanyahu

by Patrick Anidjar Patrick Anidjar – Thu Dec 11, 2:31 pm ET

JERUSALEM (AFP) – A far-right Likud party member has become a thorn in the side of party leader Benjamin Netanyahu, a frontrunner in the race to become Israel's prime minister, as media reprint comments he made praising the Nazi system and denigrating Arabs.

Moshe Feiglin, 46, had a strong chance of winning a parliamentary seat after gaining significant support within Likud, at a time when Netanyahu is seeking to soften the image of the right-wing opposition party…………

……..the Israeli media has since highlighted comments Feiglin made in a 1995 interview with the Haaretz daily, in which he spoke highly of Hitler and disparagingly of Arabs.

An observant yarmulke-wearing Jew, Feiglin called the man responsible for the Holocaust "an unparalleled military genius."

"Hitler savoured good music. He would paint. This was no bunch of thugs. They merely used thugs and homosexuals," Feiglin was quoted as saying at the time………..

…….Feiglin was sentenced to six months in prison in 1997 for sedition after leading a civil disobedience campaign in protest at the Israeli-Palestinian Oslo Accords of 1993, but the sentence was later commuted to community service.

Doesn't the irony-challenged 'Nadia Matar' know that her surname means 'to kill' in Spanish?

Why not a nice Hebrew name … 'Nadia Shalom' or something? Maybe she just can't see herself that way.

  8. Diane says:

Yeah, give the guy a break! He killed four people and served 6 years for it. What more do you want?

The Bernie Madoff story is breaking. But google bernard madoff Jewish for related articles, including a Jewish Journal discussion of the Jewish issue. Some interesting stuff, worth discussing in this blog, as it was re the Abramoff scandal. Connections to Zionism/Israel? Yes, but let's be careful how we understand this.

  10. daga says:

    Your sarcasm is misplaced Diane.

Remember that arabs are regarded as animals by those people. 6 years in prison for cruelty to animals is very hash punishment.
    :-)

  11. Eva Smagacz says:

    On the subject of sarcasm:

6 years for cruelty to animals? But the man killed animals – not tortured them or starve them or kept them in neglect or anything…. If it was United Kingdom, he would be found a fine and maybe ordered not to keep any animals for few years.

This is the current sentencing pattern in Israel as well.

    ;-)

  12. daga says:

    True Eva

Apropos UK, animals and the ME-conflict- It's quite Orwellian:

"All animals are equal, but some are more equal than others".

  13. Sword of Gideonthe point. says:

So speaks the Pollack. How much did your family pull in at Jedwebne Eva.

  14. aha, here we go. I gotta admit it, SoG, we're all actually the direct offspring of high ranking nazi butchers. That's the only reason we don't approve of Israel – we see it as a bad imitation.

  15. cha says:

"That's the only reason we don't approve of Israel – we see it as a bad imitation."

    :)

    Wonderful.

  16. anon says:

Hey, we Americans love Israel because it stamps out the inferior breeds as much as it can, aware of bad PR.

It's sort of like Israel is a US Cavalry scout of Apache origin. We need them for the moment, though they will eventually be booted out just as the Apache scouts were.

Actually, we don't even need them. Eventually real Americans will wake up to this fact. After a bit more economy disaster, and goy GIS shipped home to the tune of a cheap audiotape Taps.

  17. Jim Haygood says:

Wow, having to chose between Eva (with her transparent mauvaise foi)_ and SoG with his "kill 'em all" attitude is difficult. Fortunately we have Rowan, a major intellect who mysteriously is incapable of holding even a menial job. He tried to teach himself Hebrew once, but found it was too difficult. Still, must be something he could do for The Cause. Isn't there a Tube station you could blow yourself up in, Rowan?

  18. Jim, your ability to ransack my ADL file for discreditable trivia suggests you are not what you claim to be.

FYI, I was thrown out of a hebrew course because the wife of a jewish barrister who prides himself apparently on being in the same cricket team as the recently resigned London chief of police (she is also the mother of a jewish comment-is-free-writer in the Guardian) met me at a synagogue and decided I was an anti-semite, or, at least, not the sort of person the Mossad wants to be able to read the hebrew texts in their original versions, or talk without supervision to ordinary hebrew speaking israelis.

  19. There's a free, do-it-yourself audio and text course in modern spoken and written hebrew here, anyway :

  20. "The recently resigned London chief of police" I mentioned above is of course "Sir" Ian Blair, of whom I learn this from today's british rags:

"One of the first acts by the former Met Commissioner, Sir Ian Blair, in 2005 was to seek immunity of prosecution for police marksmen who mistakenly shoot dead innocent people."

The cricket team, appropriately enough, is described as 'amateur.'
