In Haaretz: "West Bank settlement gets green light for major expansion." This includes the charming legal declaration that 1700 dunams outside Jerusalem, or 400 acres of land, are now Israeli state land.
I wonder whose land that was before. Don't you?
Also I wonder who was supposed to get a state in 1947 and has never been given a state in 61 years. Because they're "animals" (Erica Jong), or "not a true partner" (Rahm Emanuel), or they just "blow it" when it comes to democracy (Elliott Abrams).
Anyway you cut it, Palestinians are just second-class human beings!

Settlement is an extremely efficient way to transfer wealth from the US government (i.e. US taxpayers) and Palestinians to Zionistically-connected Jews. Because so many wealthy Jews have seen dramatic declines in their wealth thanks to the finance crash, we should see a tremendous increase in settlement activity. (I will try to blog some analysis later today over at EAAZI. Related entries include: Zioshmooze versus Plain English and Scamming Americans Robbing Palestinians.)
Stand by for the Gush Etzion Hotties to hit the internet. These will be four young Israeli Jewish ladies in bikinis, who will explain that Gush Etzion is a safe place for young women, unlike certain mixed towns inside the Green Line they could mention, where a girl isn't safe in the streets.
I wanna puke.
Israel is moving fast to grab more land from the Palestinians because they anticipate Obama-Mitchell will pressure them to freeze expansion–nobody thinks Obama will pressure Israel to remove settlements. I hope they are wrong: link to haaretz.com
Looks like Israel already has the US new regime's number. Sammo, sammo. So let's get more "facts on the ground fast.
Go ahead and puke, Alice. Much better than anything you've written.
So far, nothing has occurred so there is no reason not to expand settlements. As for whose land it is, it appears to be owned by the state. And the only state in the region is israel.
As you have seen via Gaza and Sinai, Israel is quite willing to dismantle settlements. Fortunately, the Egyptians were actually interested in peace. They decided the death of the Jews was not worth commiting national suicide.
Hamas still has Islamic fascists at the helm, so there is no real interest in peace, just a lull to stock up on Jew-killing equipment.
As for whose land it is, it appears to be owned by the state. And the only state in the region is israel.
What a curious statement of geographic narcissism. 'Israel is the only state in the region of . . .' what, exactly? Surely Berel couldn't have meant the region of the Middle East? He mentions Egypt in next paragraph, so we can assume that he knows that there are other states in the geographic region known as the Middle East. Is he referring to the Levant? Well, there are other countries such as Lebanon in the region traditionally known as the Levant. Does he mean that Israel is the only state in the region of . . . Israel? That would appear to be redundant, but consistent with his prematurely arrested mental and emotional development. Or is he waxing mystical? Is the region he refers to a 'state' of mind. And is this state of mind the geographic location of the 'Jew-killing equipment' factories he so fears? Perhaps Berel's analytic skills are much more profound, much more subtle than he is given credit for.
"Hamas still has Islamic fascists at the helm…"
Perhaps you can define 'fascist' for us, and explain how Hamas meets the definition.
For Christ's sake, Murray, they're at the helm, and heading straight for us. If you can't see that, then why would he waste any time trying to explain what Islamofascism is to you?
Efrat is a beautiful city, and I look forward to seeing its continued growth. The expansion of Efrat and Ma'aleh Adumim are particularly welcome developments.
"Also I wonder who was supposed to get a state in 1947"
You would have to blame the Arab leaders for that. They made a foolish mistake that ended up costing the Arabs a state. What you don't ask is why no Arab State on the West Bank and Gaza from 1949 to 1967 and why no terror against the 'occupiers" of those areas?
Marc and his feigned ignorance… Isn't he a riot?
What? It's not feigned? He really doesn't know anything?
How interesting.
chris berel:
"So far, nothing has occurred so there is no reason not to expand settlements. As for whose land it is, it appears to be owned by the state. And the only state in the region is israel."
6,000 Gazan were just killed or wounded, their homes and basic institutions destroyed. The only state in the region stole all the land it rests on and occupies.
"As you have seen via Gaza and Sinai, Israel is quite willing to dismantle settlements. Fortunately, the Egyptians were actually interested in peace."
Gaza is not per se occupied by IDF–it's merely an open air prison with all its inhabitants put on a starvation diet when they are not directly attacked. The Egyptian dictatorship gets an annual dole from US taxpayers of 2 billion to stifle their own citizens anger at Israel and play nice with Israel.
Islamofascism is the equal and opposite reaction to Zionist Fascism. Simple Newton.
My ignorance is not feigned, Berel. I truly have no f*cking idea what you are blabbering on about.
No, Berel, my ignorance is not feigned. I truly have no idea what the f*ck you thought you were saying when I read your typically incomprehensible comment.
