This great recap video from JTA hits all the right notes (some of them several times):

So um what was the coverage, if any, on American TV?

That was completely sickening! Outside of campaigning, my congressman and senator take absoluely no interest in what goes on in my town. I'd be willing to bet that many state representatives spend more time passing senseless resolutions remembering the holocaust, supporting holocaust education or cementing ties with Israel than they do with examining how the laws they pass affect their constituents in small towns. Of course Israeli and Jewish issues aren't as influential on the state level as they are on the national level, but I have seen my state reps tour churches in small towns along with Israeli officials in order to drum up support for Israel. I also found it interesting that reporters quit counting the number of congressmen and senators in attendance when the number passes 50%. That's real cute! Why don't they just state the actual number? I know they know it. If it would ever happen that AIPAC members were being rounded up, I wouldn't raise a voice or lift a finger.

Of course you wouldn't. That is why we must always be on the look out for hate mongers who wouldn't lift a finger when civil liberties are curtailed for other groups you hate.

You are damn right I wouldn't! Why should anyone lift a finger or a voice to help such people? Have you ever considered that other people should be vigilant against the likes of you? Of course not, you're the eternal victim, and have every right to harm others that the status implies, and absolutely no obligations beyond whatever is deemed the best way to support your group. Eventually, other groups are going to follow the same path, and then what?

"… an enormous display of American Jewish power." I defy anyone to find a single example of the JTA using the term "Jewish power" up until the very recent past. M&W have had an effect. (BTW, it would be interesting to compare JTA coverage of successive AIPAC galas over the recent years. I don't remember such frankness over Holocaust™ exploitation in the past.)

AIPAC supporters are the chief hate mongers. We must be always ready to finger them in the interest of justice and hope.
