No longer did I tuck a bound volume under my arm whenever I left home or office. I just dropped my iPod in my pocket and could go anywhere without the
haunting fear that I might be stranded in line somewhere without
anything to read.

TPRM/TSS: time to prepare reading material divided by the time of sanitary stop. I confess to frequently achieving rather high scores here.
RE: "For once, I share a neocon's 'haunting fear.' Do you? / …the haunting fear that I might be stranded in line somewhere without anything to read" MY COMMENT: Anything is better than "the silence of the lambs".
Put it this way, Frum created the "Axis Of Evil." The drunk bible-belter, Shrub bought it, and too Chaney, for Oil reasons. And the USA sank accordingly. Frum actually thinks he's a good guy, as do the imbecile Shrub, and the always calculating bad shot Chaney.
Good God, think of the consequences. You might be stuck, alone with your own thoughts, dependent only on your eyes, ears, taste, and smell for sensations. You will actually have to live for a few minutes, even an hour, in the actual present moment. Worst of all, you might have to talk to somebody, possibly someone not of your own social class or itellectual attainments. No, don't forget that i-pod or kindle.
For your own good, Phil, look into getting a motorcycle. The health benefits are manifld. I get some of my best sleep on long freeway drives, and awake wonderfully refreshed. Not to mention that since one sits a little higher on a bike, it's easy to look down the shirts of the girls in the cars next to you. What's not to like?
Great, Mooser. You are the one that trashed Harley riders. You pretend to being a rebel. You are a typical Jewish momma's boy. Start from that reality, when you address real American goys.
You're right. That's Frum's real haunting fear–that he might have to talk to someone with lower status and lesser IQ.
" You are a typical Jewish momma's boy" Don't I know it! And if I could get this damn Ouija board to work, Mom could tell me what to do in the present economic downturn. She's already told me what to do about my marriage, when she was alive. And I wasn't the one "trashing Harley riders"; that was the Code Pink lady, who characterised the thugs who jeered her at the AIPAC meeting as "Harley boys" It does not surprise me at all that AIPAC supporters ride Harleys (or, as we Litvaks call them, HELOC-Davidsons) But as far as being a "typical Jewish momma's boy" goes, guilty as charged. Of course, I sat shiva for my Mom, but it was hard to see how an eight-armed Hindu avatar would help her in the afterlife.
It was, indeed, my mother, very soon after my father had died, who loaned me the money to buy my first bike, when I had just turned eighteen, a 1969 Honda 350. She said, as if I could ever forget this; "I think your father would have said yes to this". She also expressed a conviction that I would not<?i> crash. And off I went, $1600 in hand, which I paid back, at $50 a week. All boys should have such Jewish mothers! My first license was a NY motorcycle-only license. How I passed the road test I will never know, having no actual idea how to ride the thing beyond the fact that it had two wheels, like a bicycle. Riding dirt-bikes, or even jumping a bicycle off a plywood ramp, was an arcane, Gentile goyischer-boyischer field of endeavor, completely off limits to me, and I've always thought off road riding was trefe. I often wonder what my Mom, or my Dad (deceased, may he rest in peace , since 1969) would think about Israel's actions, and how family and societal influence would shape what they thought, or at least said.
And any decent Jewish boy knows when to close his tags. I hope it doesn't have the same effect it used to, but here's a closing tag, just in case?
