J Street's Isaac Luria called out the Israel Project today:
Does likening the dismantling of illegal settlements in occupied territories – a policy supported by the U.S. for several administrations and enacted by the Ariel Sharon and Menachem Begin governments – to ‘ethnic cleansing’ enhance Israel advocacy or damage it?
Does allying the pro-Israel community further with Pastor John Hagee by appearing at his conference hurt or help – even after he was seen in the last election cycle to be so far outside the mainstream of American politics that even the campaign of John McCain rejected his endorsement?
In fact, does the very concept of “Israel-right-or-wrong” advocacy really work on an issue and in a time when solving this problem requires recognition of complexity and nuance?

in fact , didn't i hear they were funding hagee? check it out…
I do believe that the expulsion and destruction of Jewish communities amounts to ethnic cleansing.
I think you have it wrong. Hagee is in bed with the Israel Project, and both groups are are made up of nutters. BTW, why not mention the leader/leaders of the Israel Project by name and label them as nutters? Is Christian Zionism more dangerous than Jewish Zionism?
Yes, Christian Zionism is more dangerous. It is necessarily apocalyptic.
Let's recap. I come to your house. Throw you into the street. Keep the police at bay for about 40 years. And when you ask for your house back, I scream "ethnic cleansing." Wow. I can't imagine you'll have problems getting the goyim to buy that argument.
Do you believe that John Hagee is more dangerous than Benjamin Netanyahu?
Forced relocation is ethnic cleansing. The solution to the settlement issue is to make them peer status and non-exclusive, rather than non-existent.
I'm not sure about that. Extreme Jewish Zionism is apocalyptic in the sense of their repeated references to Samson(i.e. the Samson Option) and to Masada, two pretty apocalyptic tales. Martin van Creveld, a pretty mainstream military historian in Israel said,""I consider it all hopeless at this point. … We have the capability to take the world down with us. And I can assure you that that will happen, before Israel goes under." And BTW, that was said in response to the second intifada.
Get real, Ethan. You don't know when to stop feeling sorry for yourself. Your not always the victim. That narrative washed away long ago.
Netanyahu has access to nukes. Thankfully, Hagee does not. That makes Netanyahu much more dangerous than Hagee.
NO it isn't. The relocation called for is of Israeli citizens, not of Jews per se. Israeli citizens are not allowed under the Geneva Convention to settle their own populations in areas that they occupy as the result of territorial acquisition by war. The settlers are there in violation of that. If you are illegally on my land I am not "ethnically cleansing" you just because you are Jewish, I'm removing you because you are violating the law. Jews don't get a special pass or privilege on this. The worst offenders when it comes to conflating Jews with Israelis are Zionists, who can't seem to wrap their heads around the idea that the two terms (Jews and Israelis) are not synonymous.
In Israel I often heard the claim that Israel would go nuclear before allowing defeat. And, if I'm not mistaken, Israeli soldiers have some sort of swearing in ceremony at Masada. The Masada tale is a important for Zionists. A zealot is a zealot. Real Christian Zionists are few in number, and the ones that I know are too old to fight, too broke to contribute money and too stupid to understand that they are being scapegoated.
Gnu, A narrative is just that.
all talk of masada and samson is posturing. there a cowardly streak that runs through the entire lot of them.
Forced relocation is ethnic cleansing. Uh, no. If you barge in to someone's house and steal it at gunpoint, and the police or good citizens show up and FORCE you to leave, then it's not ethnic cleansing just because your ethnic identity guided your choice of which house to steal. Thieves don't have property rights to stolen goods. Theft undertaken within the framework of an ethnically-based gang doesn't magically invalidate this basic precept of civilized behavior. Make no mistake: Jewish colonists in the Occupied Palestinian Territories are an ethnically based gang of thieves. This shouldn't need to be said, but alas it does need to be made explicit to some less discerning and more excitable readers. (Richard, that is not directed at you.) I am not blaming all Jews for the criminal activities of a Jewish gang of colonial thieves any more than I would blame all Italians for the crimes of the Mafia, all Salvadorans for the crimes of MS-13, or all Russians for the crimes of the Tambovskaya-Malyshevskay gang. Recognizing that a criminal enterprise has an ethnic identity is not tantamount to racism against said ethnic group. It is merely recognition of an obvious pattern in personal identity among and interpersonal relations between gang members. Richard, if you want anyone, especially Palestinians whose cooperation will be required, to have sympathy for the notion that Jews should have a legal pathway to live in the Occupied Palestinian Territories after the IDF is withdrawn, then avoidance of this simple issue is counterproductive. It is very obvious to everyone else. Personally, I think such discussion is a waste of time because the colonies will never be removed and Israelis will continue down the path of fascism and self-destruction, excepting those smart enough to get out in time. I see the main task in this struggle now, as an American, as helping to ensure that American Jews aren't completely and unfairly screwed during the fallout from the inevitable dissolution of Israeli apartheid. Israeli Jewish colonists have chosen their path, and aren't going to be dissuaded from it. They have nothing but paranoid and racist contempt for the 'Other'. There are plenty of people in the world far more-deserving of finite time and resources.
What does "peer status" mean? Where do you get your terminology?
Gnu? lech tezdayen.
Chutspa Was explaind as when a man ,after killing his parents, stands in front of the judge and big for mercy since he is an orphant now.I don't think we should even play the settlers ethnic cleansing hasbara angle.Ignore it let it die.Witty you are a creep of a light thinker.
"Forced relocation is ethnic cleansing " When carried out under threat of violence yes it is. When based on legal findings and done to reverse a prior ethnic cleasing, then it's justice.
And I believe the earth is flat. Thanks for bringing about the one-state anyway. Keep "believing."
Last I heard, Israel has about 200 nukes. That's less than, e.g., the USA , Russia, or France at least. So, does Israel really have the capacity to taken the world down with Israel?
You mean like the 15 million ethnic Germans forcibly transferred from the East after WW2?
Imagine how they'd fold if Uncle Obama took away their tin cup? Overnight, it would be. To bad our whore congress won't allow it as they are mostly selfish goys intent on only keeping their luxurious perks and power. Traitors, nearly all.
What does Israel need with 200 nukes? Whatever your point is, 200 nuclear weapons can do quite a bit of damage, and set off a really nasty chain of events if other nations decide to get involved. I can't think of another nation that throws its nuclear weight around as aggressively, recklessly and often as Israel does. I'm not sure what to make of North Korea, but Israel has destabilized and held the Middle East and the world hostage for decades by flaunting its nuclear advantage over its neighbors.
