Lieberman sounds tricky

Foreign Minister Lieberman tells Haaretz that because he's a settler, he stays out of settlement policy. Sound unbelievable? Lieberman doesn't seem to believe it himself.

"I would not want to be accused of this when I have made it a calculated choice not to engage in negotiations on the issue with the Americans," he said. U.S.-Israeli relations are "more important than the will of a foreign minister," Lieberman said.

True. And the reason there's an Israel lobby.
The U.S. has enabled settlements for 20 years.

"There is no alternative to our relationship with the U.S., but we will never give up our red lines," he added.

Wait, which is it, are you negotiating or being intransigent?

Last week, French President Nicolas Sarkozy also urged Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu to "rid himself" of Lieberman, who is seen as hawkish and hardline. Netanyahu and Barak have both come to Lieberman's defense in the face of public criticism.

Why are the Arabs not being intransigent when they refuse to recognize Israel?

When a society like Israel starts to believe and fully accepts the dishonesty of their leaders, they are heading for collapse. Like the US, the Bush believers (i.e. Iraq War) could not see the Lies spread until it was only to obvious for the blathering schmucksof punditry to shut up about WMD . It's the same with Israel. The people feel good with rotten leadership because the truth is more difficult to accept.

I think old Germans would agree, Chad. I see no sign at all from the USA leaders and their MSM enablers that any of them have learned a damn thing about the rise and fall of Nazi Germany–this despite the plethora of printed and filmed words about the matter–despite all those crosses in Normandy. Similarly, I see no sign Israel has learned from The Holocaust–despite all those dead Holocaust victims. Rather it seems both the USA and Israel have absorbed Hitler's philosophy and continue to enact it in the post-Hitler context as much as they can get away with–and under the guise of euphemisms stolen from the humanist vocabulary.

Lieberman is the essence of Zionism, but now has become a red flag and a liability. Even he seems to realize it. So now they are moving him back behind the scenes to best conceal their own nature. Apparently they thought they were safe to let the mask slip ever further, but now realize their mistake since the world has judged him a pariah. They don’t want him to turn into the face of Zionism, even though he is the essence of Zionism.

…so true. We can all see it from the outside, but they can't see it inside the sooty cauldron. The Israel operatives find it more exciting operating in stealth mode that being open and clear. In Israel they now have the cabinet to say outright what they've been doing in secret for decades. All those years of pretending to want peace – in the least there open about their fraud now.
