Here's a post saying that he's deemed an anti-Semite for trying to end the suffocatingly one-sided relationship to Israel, even though he's for the 2SS to save Israel.

I agree, too, and think that if the Israeli Lobby isn’t transformed or defeated the United States could become a very ugly place for Jews to live in several decades. The longer it goes on the more an ‘us-versus-them’ mindset will be cultivated in gentile perceptions. I think this is a direct reaction to the ‘us-versus-them’ mentality that pro-colonization Zionists have toward other Americans.
It is tragically unnecessary and its inevitable backlash is completely avoidable. What happens if the Israeli Lobby continues to successfully enforce pro-colonization orthodoxy in US government policy to the grievous detriment of America until our country is starkly polarized? This obviously would be terrible for America, and those who support extremist Zionist policies today based on their answer to the question “Is it good for Jews?” should ask themselves that question again within the context of where it will lead Jewish standing in America.
Those comments Sullivan cites are the leading edge of one hell of a whirlwind, sown by the far right (Christian, Jewish and otherwise), that all Americans, Jewish or otherwise, will end up reaping. If Obama and the Democratic Party fail (which, so far, they have), lose out in 2010 and 2012, then we’re going to end up with a country to which Israel can barely hold a candle to with regards to right-wing militancy.
I’m reminded of the hapless Israeli who was set upon by the teabagger for mentioning the fact that Israel not only has socialized medicine, they like it!

Why do people want to ‘save’ Israel as if it’s destructive behavior is new? As if it’s sadism and intentional killing of civilians is new?

There is an arc of solidarity and justice w/ every conflict and it is NOT with the Jews on this one. Not at all.
I agree: Israel is nothing if not a colonial state, still engaging in colonization. I think, at some level, that Jewish security and rights has to be a concern of a movement seeking justice in Palestine. But our very first priority is ending the current oppression, which is of Palestinians.
