If Mother Teresa had been on a relief boat to Gaza, she would have been a Vatican terrorist.

    • Menachem says:

Can we at least admit these aren’t relief ships? They are attempts to break the siege?

Has any of the aid from the flotilla or the Corrie been allowed into Gaza yet?

    • hayate says:

Mother teresa was the buddy of some of the worst fascists of the 20th century. Had she been on the convoy, she’d have been working for the israelis.

      (I get your point, though ;D )

      • Seham says:

“‘Had she been on the convoy, she’d have been working for the israelis.”

Great comment. There’s a reason why Angry Arab can’t stand her or the Dalia Lama.

      • potsherd says:

        True, good point.

But recall that the woman is literally a saint in the eyes of the world. She’s been beatified.

Yet if she were on, say, the Lebanese ship Miriam, the hasbara machine would certainly begin a campaign of demonization – for which, as in the case of Goldstone, there is available ammunition.

No one, nothing is sacred if it conflicts with the Israeli occupation.

    • Sumud says:

Nelson Mandela was classified as a terrorist by the US State Department until 2008, more than a decade after his election as South Africa’s President.

“Mandela taken off US terror list”
      link to news.bbc.co.uk

      • Citizen says:

So what’s the problem? US GIs with Arab backgrounds have been targeted
and put on the official US Watch List as suspected terrorists for many years now. So, who watches the Watch List?

        • potsherd says:

The Supreme Court does. The ruling on “material support” for “terrorists” is probably the greatest blow to civil liberties in this century.

Anyone who met with Mandela until 2008 is now subject to prosecution. Jimmy Carter, who has met with groups like Hamas and Hezbollah, says he is now subject to prosecution.

And Congressional Zionists like Berman are honing their blades.

        • Chaos4700 says:

Great. And when the US government starts imprisoning Jews for actually living up to Jewish values of justice and peace, that will send a message about where the next Kristallnacht is really going to come from.

  2. Chaos4700 says:

    “Security Organization”

The Tel Aviv branch of Blackwater, eh?

  3. Frances says:

Avigdor Lieberman should volunteer, I’m sure his experience as a bouncer will come in very handy.

  4. Sumud says:

Ehud Barak should volunteer: he dressed as a woman during a covert Israeli assassination (ziospeak: peacemaking) mission in Beirut in 1973 – which killed up to 100 ordinary Lebanese civilians – and 3 PLO leaders.

    • Chaos4700 says:

Are you serious? In that case I’d like to say to him, on behalf of the greater LGBT community, to stay the hell out of our minority, thank you very much. [comment removed for Nazi reference]

    • Menachem says:

C’mon Sumud, if you are going to lie, put the number at least in the 1000s

      • Cliff says:

Israel killed a 1000 Lebanese civilians in the 2006 war. Like Gaza, it was a purposeful attack on civilians and civilian infrastructure.

Israel only understands violence. It knows no one in the region will accept it because they know intimately the origins of the State.

Whereas here, you have constant Zio-PR and identity politics.

        • Menachem says:

Cliff, look up Operation Wrath of God. I am not talking about 2006, if someone is going to lie, i am going to call them out. Your defense of “well look what they did here”, doesn’t fly.

Aren’t you using like #3 from the Hasbara handbook, but with a twist, “well i know what he said is a lie, but they did something equally bad here”

      • Sumud says:

        Chaos, it’s true!

they killed the great poet Kamal Nasir

What Spielberg Left Out, Said Reveals: Putting Kamal Nasir in Context

Sina Rahmani reviewing Edward Said’s film The Last Interview comments on Edward Said’s account of his friend Kamal Nasir’s death:

“Another saddening story he [Said] tells is that of the death of PLO spokesmen Kamal Nasir. Nasir was babysitting for a relative of Said who had gone with Said to Jordan to bury an aunt who had recently passed away. That very night that the two of them had left for Jordan, Nasir was assassinated by an Israeli strike team lead by Ehud Barak… Exemplifying the vindictiveness of the Israeli attitude towards Palestinians, the eloquent poet and writer Nasir was found riddled with bullets in his mouth and his right hand.”

“Have you heard of Kamal Nasir?” he retorted. “He was a friend of mine. He was a poet gunned down in front of his wife in his apartment in Beirut by Ehud Barak dressed up like a woman.” If I recall, my father seemed to put particular emphasis on “in front of his wife.”

Abukhalil asks, “Why is Munich more famous than the savage bombardment of Palestinian refugee camps back in February prior to Munich? And why did the letter bombs to three Palestinian writers not get any world attention? Why did American liberals and PEN not notice it back then?”

Some of the people that Israeli assassins killed were three PLO officials, again one of whom was the poet and PLO spokesman Kamil Nasser, who had nothing to do with the what occurred in Munich. The Nassers are known throughout Palestine as academics; Kamal’s cousin, Hanna, president of Bir Zeit University, was illegally deported from his homeland, and spent nineteen years in exile.

To put Kamal Nasir in context for the few readers of this blog; lamentably this won’t reach the millions that will be taken in by Spielberg’s humanization of the assassins and his dehumanization of Palestinians, his poetry:

From the poem “Letter to Fadwa”

If my songs should reach you
despite the narrow skies around me,
remember that I will return to life,
          to the quest for liberty,
remember that my people may call on my soul
and feel it rising again from the folds of the earth.

this is one of my favorite poems by nasir:

          The Story

I will tell you a story
A story that lived in the dreams of people
A story that comes out of the world of tents
Was made by hunger and decorated in the dark nights
In my country, and my country is a handful of refugees
Every twenty of them have a pound of flour
And promises of a relief…gifts and parcels
It is the story of the suffering group
Who stood for ten years in hunger
          In tears and agony
          In hardship and yearning

It is a story of people who were misled
Who were thrown in the mazes of years
          But they defied and stood
          Disrobed and united
And went to light, from the tents
          The revolution of return
          in the world of darkness.

Beloved Should you receive the news, And friends come to you with foreboding eyes, Be gentle and smile, For with my death I have brought them life. I have slain my spring into autumn, to immortalise the spring, Onto it the dreams of my people I have lain, Unto it I shall live and I shall pray, Possessed by an artists ecstasy, singing in my limbs, Teaching me love, striving, pervading my soul and my being. Thus the splendour of my dream shall remain, Thus immortal in my peoples hearts I shall be remembered.

Thanks Annie, I didn’t know about Kamil Nasser. Watching Munich made me feel sick in my guts. I’ll have to try and track down Said’s film, a sane alternative.

On Nasser’s poem, I wonder if you’ve seen the 1950 documentary on the Palestinian refugees “Sands of Sorrow”? It’s hard to fathom how the world ever permitted this.

Yeah annie, Dorothy is cool. She’s so Anglo-fied, like my old headmistress when I was a school kid.

“and it’s tuesday for us. ;)”

Oh *duh*, it was after midnight and the clock on my computer was telling me it’s Wednesday.

Disgracefully, I haven’t been to Margaret River or/ Byron – which is terrible because my sister lives near there! I’m torn as usual between o’seas and domestic travel..

I hadn’t read on Dorothy Thompson either, she does sound amazing. Big stuff aside this made me laugh:

“During the operation, three of the highest-level PLO leaders, surprised at home, were killed, along with other PLO militants (reports of actual number killed range up to 100)”
        link to en.wikipedia.org

..which is exactly what i said: “up to 100″. I don’t lie or confabulate; there’s no need to.

        • Menachem says:

You mean your un-cited source on Wikipedia? I’ve read many accounts, including those written as manuals for counter-terror/special forces operatives in the US government(FOIA any dork on the street can read some good stuff). No one has ever mentioned 100+ killed.

You are a liar and a confabulator, no need for me to apologize. I’ll catch you in another sooner rather than later.

        • Sumud says:

“No one has ever mentioned 100+ killed.”

Neither did I. You’re lying about what I said, then accusing me of being a liar. What a joke.

” I’ll catch you in another sooner rather than later.”

          LOL go for it cowboy.

It’s interesting what you find with a little looking.. That wiki article I linked to (the one you criticise for needing verification) has existed since 2005, and been through ~175 edits. To quote the original 2005 article:

“(reports of actual number killed vary from a dozen to 100)”
          link to en.wikipedia.org

Apparently that wiki article was based on the Hebrew version. See for yourself (comment on the 8 May 2005 edit):
          link to en.wikipedia.org

If you look on the discussion page for the article you’ll see it’s overseen by (among others) WikiProject Israel. If that number – “up to 100″ were so controversial I can’t see it surviving ~175 edits.

          Interesting no?

Still, the fact is you accused me of lying – when I based my comment on a reliable source. You offer as an alternative: “I’ve read many accounts..” Wow, credible!

  5. Elliot says:

It reads like an ad that one of Israel’s official security organizations would put out (Mossad or GSS) but using the term “Hizballah” would indicate a vigilante group. The Israeli military always uses women soldiers in dealing with Orthodox women settlers.
I agree with Deena. Sounds like a vigilante group to me.

      • Taxi says:

Off topic here, Richard, but a few years ago a good friend of mine actually survived an Aeroflot plane crash right in the heart of a Kirghistani desert – one of six survivors! • demize says:

I once smoked an Aeroflot cigarette from one of the packs they used to give our on flights and I am still trying to recover.

        • Taxi says:

          Mooser,

My plane-crash surviving friend, who also has a wicked sense of humor, once told me that the food on Aeroflot was so unbelievably awful it couldn’t possibly pass for ‘complimentary’ because it was cooked with intent to terrorize every taste bud in the traveler’s mouth :-)
I’ll have to phone her and ask how big the portions served on Aeroflot – at least she’s still around to give us exact ghastly measures and hues :-)

p.s. whenever I go out with her and her friends, I always opt for car-pooling with her – I figure she’s already survived a plane crash and so the chances of her getting into a serious car accident are certainly less than your average driver :-)

        • Taxi says:

          demize,

I’m coughing here on your behalf dude (dudette).

For the past 2 weeks, the “Mariam” has been freaking out Israel’s leaders much more than the existential threat from Iran. They have probably found out about one of the 50 women that will be aboard the “Mariam”; she’ll probably be the one most interrogated:

Avi – I did, last night. The sound of the voice confirmed for me that this was not an official organization. This was the middle of the night in Israel and I got an outgoing message asking to leave a message. It’s either a vigilante group (or, as Shmuel suggested, a hoax).

  15. In 1978, I put a similar advert in the London Times, asking for ‘archaeological volunteers’ for Beaufort Castle, a Crusader construction which stands on a strategic prominence overlooking the Litani River in South Lebanon, up to which the Israelis had just invaded. I gave the Israeli Ambassador’s phone number for a response.

At that time, a major Israeli justification for starting colonisation of the West Bank was ‘archaeological research’

The Israelis occupied the land they took, for 22 years, until Hizbollah turfed them out.

I got a couple of visits from very heavy people telling me not to do such a thing again.

“Indeed, on this site, the events in Kyrgystan are barely covered;”

Funny that, since it’s a blog focused on the Israel/Palestine conflict.

Once again KenDavis – because your comments are strikingly unoriginal – nobody needs an excuse or permission from zionists to advocate for human rights and equality for Palestinians.

    • huraok says:

Funny you should bring that up. The US is on record saying that the Uzbek refugees have the right to return to their homes. Why not the same standard for the Palestinians?

    • Shingo says:

“2000 Muslim Uzbeks murdered and hundreds of thousands driven from their homes by Muslim Kyrgyz. I expect Eurolefties and Muslims world wide to furiously pour into the streets and demand action, condemnation and investigations.”

Why the hurry?  Israel has killed ten times that many and driven over a million from their homes, and 60 years later, were have yet to have an investigation into those crimes.

“It seems such outrage is only provoked by Israeli self-defense (not wanting missiles to get to Hamas, which has vowed to exterminate the Hebrews).”

That’s because “self-defense” is Hebrew for ethnic cleansing and mass murder.

” HAMAS Imam, Ziyad Abu al-Haj, says that all Jews are inherently evil and must be exterminated.”

Debunked garbage.  The blog doesn’t even quote al-Haj.

Mind you, Israelis have certainly  threatened to nuke all of Europe and the Middle East amd Rabbis have called for the mass murder of Goyim.

Three Americans killed in Gaza attack

American citizens were advised to leave the Gaza Strip following a deadly attack on a convoy of US diplomats.

Three Americans, security guards for diplomats, were killed in the attack near the Palestinian town of Beit Lahiya in the northern Gaza Strip.

Several hours after the bombing, US investigators were attacked by Palestinian stone throwers and sped away as their cars were pelted by rocks.

A statement posted on the US embassy’s Web site after the attack said Americans should leave the Gaza Strip.

“The United States government recommends that all US citizens depart the area as soon as possible, while avoiding the area of the attack,” the statement read.

“We are asking the Israeli government to facilitate the evacuation of any American citizen wishing to leave the Gaza Strip.”

The US ambassador to Israel, Dan Kurtzer, said the FBI would send bomb experts to investigate. “We were shocked by this latest terrorist outrage,” Kurtzer told reporters. “The United States government will investigate fully.”

Kurtzer said the diplomats had been en route to Gaza City to interview Palestinian applicants for Fulbright scholarships. He said those killed were contract employees for the US Embassy in Tel Aviv, but did not release their names.

Israeli radio reports said CIA officials were travelling in the convoy, but the CIA spokesman in Washington, Bill Harlow, said that “there were no CIA people involved.”

Kurtzer said that up to 400 Americans, some of them of Palestinian descent, work in the Gaza Strip.

How can I comment on the report you cite, when I have no idea what the Americans in that convoy were doing, and I also have no idea who attacked them? I do notice in that report the allegation that the CIA was in the convoy.

And I am reminded that the U.S. State Dept.’s largest security contractor is Blackwater, or whatever that firm is currently called:

Two former employees of Blackwater Worldwide have accused the private security contractor of defrauding the government for years through phony billing, including charging taxpayers for alcohol-filled parties, spa trips and a prostitute.

In court records unsealed this week, a husband and wife who worked for Blackwater said they have firsthand knowledge of the company falsifying invoices, double-billing federal agencies and improperly charging the government for personal expenses. They said they witnessed “systematic” fraud in the company’s security contracts with the State Department in Iraq and Afghanistan, and with the Department of Homeland Security and the Federal Emergency Management Agency in Louisiana after Hurricane Katrina.

Blackwater is the State Department’s largest security contractor, and a State Department spokesman said Thursday that his agency and the Justice Department reviewed the allegations in 2008, when the lawsuit was filed under seal in federal court in Virginia. The spokesman, P.J. Crowley, could not determine what came of the review.

When whatever happened in Gaza in Oct. 2003 happened, Blackwater was already providing security to our diplomats in Iraq. Looks, from the Wikipedia entry on Blackwater Security Consulting, like it was also already providing security for our diplomats in Israel:

Blackwater Security Consulting (BSC) was formed in 2001, and based in Moyock, North Carolina. BSC is one of the private security firms employed during the Iraq War to guard officials and installations, train Iraq’s new Army and Police, and provide other support for Coalition Forces.[18]

Its primary public contract is from the U.S. State Department under the Bureau of Diplomatic Security’s Worldwide Personal Protective Services (WPPS) and WPPS II umbrella contracts, along with DynCorp International and Triple Canopy, Inc. for protective services in Iraq, Afghanistan, Bosnia, and Israel.[39][40] Blackwater’s responsibilities include the United States embassy in Iraq.[41]

Israel killed a 1000 Lebanese civilians in the 2006 war. Like Gaza, it was a purposeful attack on civilians and civilian infrastructure.

Earth to Cliff, when you Arabs use civilians as human shields, civilians will die. Its that simple. Look at these pics which prove you wrong.

The IDF has decided to release photos, documents and videos proving Hizbullah’s intentional use of civilians to shield its weapons, missile-launchers and surveillance equipment.

I don’t dispute the occurrence in and of itself. I dispute that that is the reason for such high civilian casualties.

In the case of Gaza 08′ – the Goldstone Report found evidence that it was Israeli soldiers using human shields out of Palestinian civilians. Not Hamas.

      In Lebanon 06′ :

Find me a study of Lebanon 06′ that provides evidence of systematic usage of human shielding by Hezbollah soldiers.

The US Army War College concluded that there was no meaningful intermingling. That the civilian areas were largely vacated when the fighting began.

Your citation is weak. Those pictures don’t prove anything to the point – that the reason for such high civilian casualties is intentional targeting of civilians by the IDF/Israeli government.

Ironically, Israel were accused by HRW of using human shields in Gaza, and Shin Bet has appealed an Israeli Supreme Court ruling banning the use of human shields.

Since when has the IDF ever classified material that implicates it’s enemies?   Who are you kidding?

No really, Hezbollah terrorists went into the homes of all those Lebanese civilians and tied them to their couches and then hid behind them and started launching rockets at Israel from the windows. I mean, what do you expect the brave Israeli soldiers to do, succumb to those filthy Ay-rabs terrorists? Of course not. And even if some few hundred civilians died, its their own damn fault for bringing their themselves and their families to a war zone.
