    I suggest sending a shipment of supersize oven mitts to the West Bank. Coat them on the outside with epoxy glue and have several guys at the front of the demo wear them. That should take care of the dogs.

        Yes. The glue should be dissolved as soon as the dogs have been removed from the scene and are separated from their evil handlers.

        I’m curious how real this initiative is. The Kahane gang is widely regarded as dangerous nutsos. Is there corroboration that these dogs will be used by the government or the “mainstream” settlers. Could be that this guy is just drumming up business and advertizing yet another Kahane scheme.

          We should all be prepared for the most outrageous kinda violence by Apartheid israel, both civic and military, post 20th September. I reckon every israeli, be they settler or not, is desperate and preparing themselves for some kinda push-and-shove-off-the-land event.

          The collective quintessential zionist fear is also of being forced to re-visit the 1948 Nakba as a subconsciously guilty nation right now in the 21st century before the open eyes of the whole world and decades after they thought they’d buried their original crimes well and good while no one was looking. Uh-oh, awkward!

          Insecurity is everywhere. Desperate people are everywhere. Guns and amo are everywhere. Attack dogs too are now added. And yes you’re right to mention that some people’s business too will find opportune moments to make money out of their people’s fears.

          Elliot it’s a grim scenario building up. I’m not just hearing the drums of war approaching, but the slobbering snarl and bark of war.

          Eliot – the IDF has been training attack dogs since at least 2010.

          Search “Israel attack dogs” for press of the time. Coteret also have a translation of a Hebrew-language newspaper report on it. I’m beat, or I’d look it up and give you a link.

      The contrast between total Israeli control over the occupied territories (as demonstrated by the dogs) and the weakening Israeli grip on international opinion is fascinating. Sure they have attack dogs but how much political cover do they have to use them ? They are defending the settlers because they have cut off all other options but it’s like trying to keep the Nokia share price where it was in 2005. The context is changed and they don’t get it.

      I asked my favourite settler why the Palestinians have no rights in Erez Israel and he kindly replied thus :

      Even a pro-Pal. academic article had to conclude that “On one hand, the legal system extinguished most indigenous rights to uncultivated land through its use of colonial law—the interpretation of Ottoman law by Western colonial officials, the use of foreign legal concepts like moral rights and rights of common, and the transformation

But once the Mandate came into operation, the true land owners, the Jews, obtained their own rights stolen from them.

      This kind of garbage cannot gain any traction amongst people under the age of 40 in the West. I doubt even their parents buy it.

        I think that it may be helpful to compare Israeli arguments on behalf of Aparteid. My impression is that at every point, white South Africans had a better legal case, starting from an unambigous South African Act of British Parliament that can be compared with vague and not particularly autoritative documents like Balfour Declaration.

        So the parliament of South Africa got the authority from the British parliament that actually was not restricted what it has a right to do with Crown Colony, as opposed to a Mandate that did not belong to Britain. Then, we are supposed to accept that the Sultan and Calif of the Faithful had the right to evict everybody, and that this right was fully transfered to the British and then to Israel. The right of South African parliament to regulate land ownership was not restricted by any need to interpret such stuff.

        So one can postulate a big difference between Apartheid, with its solid legal grounding, and much more creative “Israeli” legal position.

    There is just something terribly horrible and terrifying about the imagery of a beast attacking a human being. But considered in the whole, this kind of imagery is presented for its shock value, and little else. Israel’s brutality towards Palestinians is not in question. The use of dogs is but a small component, and, although terrifying to imagine being the victim of such an attack, Israel is employing far worse weapons on almost a daily basis. High velocity tear gas munitions for crowd control. White Phosphorous munitions against civilians. One need not list the full range of implements.

    That white-shirted so called “civilian” dog trainer doesn’t look like he can even chase after a Palestinian spring chicken. And speaking of chicken, the approaching 20th September date sure is scaring the chickenshit outta millions of zionists and especially the settlers. Morbid masada energy is gathering to the forefront and it does not bode well – but it will not stop the macro-biotic surge for freedom and self-determination for Palestinians that the majority of the world supports.

    I was so damn distracted by the big dude’s perfectly starched blindingly WHITE SHIRT juxtaposed against the vile hate in his eyes – but then when he spoke, his voice was full of fear pretending at bravado. The irony of the image of an over-fed jew holding the leash of a German Shepherd attack dog and chasing after skinny brown children in the Holy Lands is just too much to bear. Honestly, WHY are the jews doing this to themselves?

        It is Israelis who are telling us that Israel must be recognised as the Jewish state, and thus link Jewishness to its values and actions, so when it practises apartheid, indiscriminate violence and humilation of the indigenous people, well what are we expected to conclude?
        Many Jewish people are horrified at the identification of one with the other, and its impact on them.

          zionism doesn’t have the power to do that. that association can only be made in the mind of the thinker. jews are individual people and should be afforded the same respect as any human being, the assumption of individual thought and action. you can’t lump all the jews in the world into one category and blame them all for israel’s action. i mean you can but that would be wrong. very wrong in my book. it kind of defeats the whole purpose of this blog and what phil and adam are doing trying to ignite a conversation in the american jewish community. the fact is there are many many jews who are not represented by israel, zionism or apartheid. it is better to empower that thought and empower the expansion of that part of the community than to empower the opposite which just leads to more and more racism. imho.

          I’m making an observation on the current consensus around the world, an impression that’s been promoted by israel itself for decades: jews=zionism=today’s apartheid in the holy land – I ain’t making a personal statement of belief here annie. I do know not all jews are racist zionists etc. But israel’s gotta now deal with the consequences of the associations it’s created and keeps creating in the minds of people around the world. There’s no avoiding this at this stage.

          i agree, there’s no avoiding it. and pro israel think tanks have put a lot of effort into associating all jews with israel. we just have to continually counter that because ultimately they don’t have the power over us to control our thought. that’s all i meant by disagreeing with the idea “Zionism is making jews synonymous with Apartheid”. they can try to control how we regard israel, and hasbara about israel has always relied heavily on the anti semitism ad hominem crutch..making it personal. it’s a dangerous gamble tho and we can’t let them get away with it.

          It isn’t just “pro-Israel think tanks”, annie.

          In newspaper after newspaper in Britain and Australia I see letters defending Israel written by people who claim affiliation with (and usually official position in) Boards of Deputies and similar organizations. They create the impression that just about every Jewish-based organization supports Israel.

          And I see more letters of support from people with obviously Jewish names.

          And, perhaps most importantly, I hardly ever see letters from such people condemning Israel. It is hard to avoid the impression that the silence is consent, and that by inaction the majority of Jews associate themselves with Israel.
