I am collecting all evidence that the Israel/Palestine issue is being discussed in our political races. And here is another Congressional race in which Israel support has become politicized, a little bit anyway. In Queens, New York’s 6th District, several Democrats are contending to replace the very pro-Israel Gary Ackerman, who is retiring.
Last month the NYT said that the candidates in the primary were trying to out-Israel one another. Well now there seem to be some mild demurrals. From the debate on NY1 last night:
Israel and Middle East politics has also figured prominently in the campaign. [State Assemblyman Rory] Lancman sent out a mailer attacking [City Councilwoman Elizabeth] Crowley for saying she thinks Israel is a “distraction.”
Crowley said the quote is taken out of context and that Lancman is spending too much time focusing on the security of Israel.
“Is it the most important issue? Is it the most important issue?” Crowley asked.
“It’s an extremely important issue,” Lancman answered.
[State Assemblywoman Grace] Meng did her best to stay out of the fray. But when candidates had the opportunity to challenge each other directly, she took aim at Lancman for sending out this mailer that reads, “It’s A Dangerous World.”
The assemblywoman described it as “fear mongering.”
“A piece of literature that literally scared my children,” Meng said.

It is a very important issue – just not for the reasons Mr.Lancman suggests – it’s the number one issue in my book…
Phil, here’s another fight
between congressional contenders in NY’s 24th District centered on who loves Israel more: link to donate.jstreetpac.org Congress= Knesset?
The context is the redistricting that’s been going on in NY, which itself has followed the teabagger inpact four years ago, back when:
“Ironically, the congressmembers touring Israel are reassuring Israel that they, unlike the hard-pressed working families of central New York, will feel NONE of the impact of the financial hardtimes disrupting the U.S. and the rest of the world. American aid will see to that.”

You know, I’m sick and tired of all these hacks who think the U.S. owes Israel something.
What a joke of a question…Israel is so important to America and its’ politics that mostly All the important gatekeepers here in the U.S keep israels’ misdeeds off the msm and are only allowed to publish in great part the bullcrap Myths that that little hellhole of a nation and it’s hasbara handlers allow.
There probably has never been anything like this ever in all of history where the tail wags the dog incessantly.
The host entity has agreed to be eaten alive by the scavenger that ravages it.
as the guy who used to be allowed to post on mondoweiss from ethnic ashkenazim against zionist israel used to say…the economic downfall is the one thing that can unravel this for the zionist, i hope that his judgement is correct.
On a somewhat side note: Mitt Romney, Joe the Plumber draw the ire of Jewish Democrats link to toi.sr
“NJDC President and CEO David A. Harris quickly pounced on the (Joe the Plumber) video.
“Using the memories of the six million Jews killed in the Holocaust to make a political point is never appropriate, under any circumstances,” he said.”
If every Zionist has always adhered to Harris’s statement, would Israel even exist?
