It never ends, does it? A day after Romney said he was going to Israel. From the US Embassy in Tel Aviv:
Amb Shapiro just took the stage to welcome guests and special guest Supreme Court Justice Elena Kagan
Justice Kagan: Israel and America share a deep commitment to the rule of law. #July4TLV
From her confirmation hearing, two years ago, explaining why she spoke of former Israeli Supreme Court Chief Justice Aharon Barak as her hero:
“As you know, I don’t think it’s a secret I am Jewish,” Kagan said. “The State of Israel has meant a lot to me and my family. And — and I admire Justice Barak for what he’s done for the State of Israel and ensuring an independent judiciary.”
She has a conventional mind. And the convention is: PEP. Progressive except Palestine. Makes for success.

Right, but the correct spelling is still Et tu.
i stand correkted
Where is Rohar when you need him?
Upon the call, I come to save the day.
And I point out that there should be a comma after tu.
‘Et tu Elena’ without a comma would mean ‘You too are Elena’.
And I even spelled it right for him on another thread. You would think a guy who just had an object lesson in backstabbing would have the phrase etched on his mind.
BTW, Bad grammar, bad punctuation and being careless with spelling does not make you look more proletarian, it just makes you look like someone who doesn’t appreciate his education. But then again, why should you?
oh heck, i thought it made me one of the workers! shhhh
Mooser: “BTW, Bad grammar, bad punctuation and being careless with spelling …”
Not so long ago this was the surefire signature of a “liberal Zionist”. How times change.
Not only Self-hating Jew but a Commie lover to boot! can you sink any lower, Mr.Weiss?! ;-)
Not surprised by Kagan. I was very much against her appointment, she is a ‘ethnic worshiper”. If you read her many speeches thruout her career it is very obvious she believes in the superiority of certain groups.
Kagan and others like her are the downside to ‘diversity’. It puts ethnic agendas, not impartial objectivity, into seats of power they shouldn’t be in.
Almost everytime I see anyone appointed to any position these days I think ‘political payoff’ to some special interest donor group.
One reason we are in the mess we are in.
“Almost everytime I see anyone appointed to any position these days I think ‘political payoff’ to some special interest donor group”
You got that right, American … the cynicism and open cronyism of our current age is just reprehensible – you can almost smell the stench of decay creeping over our democracy as it is actively transformed by the billionaires into a plutocracy with some well-connected groups in the winner’s circle
RE: “Et tu Elena– Justice Kagan’s in Israel, celebrating ‘deep commitment to the rule of law’” ~ Weiss
MY COMMENT: Paying back the Obama reelection campaign for Obama’s having nominated her? Oh John, you’re such a cynic! A Justice of the U.S. Supreme Court would never stoop to such things (lol). But then, it is prime time for raising campaign contributions!

P.S. No more battered
spousevoter syndrome for me!P.P.S. Jill Stein is the first ever Green Party member, and as of July 1st, the only 2012 progressive presidential candidate, to secure the necessary public support to qualify for federal matching funds!
Dr. Jill Stein has issued a written statement thanking her supporters for making her the first Green Party member to achieve federal matching funds goals. She also took a moment to record a short video expressing her feelings. – link to jillstein.org

Not ideal — but a vast improvement over the current alternatives. Assuming it either doesn’t look like Romney is going to win, or it looks like Romney’s got it in the bag, I’ll vote for Stein. I’m fairly green anyway. Just like nuclear power.

With Rabin out of the way, it was inevitable that the Israeli establishment got rid of Arafat. In addition, Arafat had both credibility (Whatever was left of it by the time of his death in 2004) and respect among Palestinians. Israel needed a weakling and it found the right man for the job, Abbas (Abu Mazen).
Polonium?
Polonium is the latest “designer” poison! And a great WMD!
FROM WIKIPEDIA [Polonium]:
P.S. ALSO SEE: Alexander Litvinenko – link to en.wikipedia.org
As Dean of the Harvard Law School, she decided to take no action on the Dershowitz/Finkelstein donnybrook. Dersh had powerful friends, Finkelstein none. Obama rewarded her with a seat on the Supreme Court.
Have to say I am not surprised by Kagan spinning that there is a commitment to the rule of law in Israel. Telling when there is no surprise that when it comes to Israel that an alleged liberal Jewish Supreme Court Justice has her head up where the sun does not shine when it comes to Israel.
“Spin’ is an understatement. ‘Spin’ is when you describe a recession as ‘cooling down an overheated economy’ or something.
Saying Israel adheres to the rule of the law is like congratulating China on its environmental activism. A complete disrespect for all legal norms is one of Israel’s defining characteristics.
Has anyone here noted this yet? New evidence indicates that Yasser Arafat’s death in 2004 was caused by polonium poisoning. As the article linked below mentions, in a previous case of polonium poisoning, British authorities believed that
“only a sophisticated, state-backed intelligence agency could source Polonium-210 in a form that could be used as poison.”

Burying the Story Along with the Body
Did the New York Times Lead Anthony Shadid to His Death?
by ALISON WEIR
“Dr. Shadid pointed out, “There is an inherent inequality of bargaining power between journalists and their editors. Commitment and a history of bravery can be exploited by editors and management, who are under their own pressure to meet production goals and achieve awards.”
During his speech at the annual American-Arab Anti-Discrimination Committee Convention in Washington DC and in interviews afterward, Anthony’s cousin gave new details about the incident, some of them differing significantly from the story given by the New York Times.
Dr. Shadid, who is a medical doctor and city councilman in Oklahoma City, revealed that a security advisor working for the Times had originally analyzed the newspaper’s plan for getting Anthony into Syria. The advisor determined it was too dangerous, and forbade him from going. Yet, six weeks later, after CNN had gained access, Times editors sent Anthony into the area, even though the security situation had grown worse in that time.
Anthony’s colleagues expressed surprise that his editors insisted he enter Syria, Dr. Shadid said, because Anthony had appeared on Syrian television and was a “wanted man.”
The night before Anthony left for the area, he spoke to Times editors over the phone in a conversation that included “screaming and slamming down the phone,” his cousin related.
When Anthony objected to the planned operation and the physical demands of the journey, Times foreign editor Joseph Kahn flippantly responded from his desk in New York, “It sounds like you’re going to get a lot of exercise on this assignment.” Anthony’s request for camping equipment for the trip was turned down
Upon his arrival in Turkey, his departure point for illegally entering Syria, the Times plan immediately began to break down. Motorcycles had been planned for travel; they weren’t there. Smugglers that the Times had arranged to take Anthony and a photographer into Syria were also, it turned out, going to be smuggling in crates of ammunition.
At this point, Dr. Shadid said, Anthony called his wife and “gave his last haunting directive: ‘If anything happens to me, I want the world to know the New York Times killed me.’”
“Israel and America share a deep commitment to the rule of law.”
That really is a hooter. How can people say these things?
“Israel and America share a deep commitment to the rule of law.”
Grounds for disbarment I would think. There are only two possibilities – dishonesty or incompetence.
Actually, the convention is closer to Israel Firster than to PEP, especially when Kagan flaunts her Jewishness and places Israel on a proverbial pedestal in the middle of her living room.
The whole Shared Values shtick is supposed to smooth over and conceal the loyalty to a foreign country, much as the Shared Interests shtick has done for years.
I’ll spell it out:
American Jews know that if they are caught with their hand in the proverbial cookie jar, they are bound to face some kind of backslash from Christian compatriots, you know, people who actually care more about America than do the Israel-is-part-of-my-soul-because-I-was-born-Jewish crowd.
So the Shared Values and Shared Interests routine is an easy out for them, as in Oh, you’ve caught me. Well, actually, I can explain. You see, I’ve been doing all this hard work for a noble cause in which I believe and it has nothing to do in particular with Israel or the U.S.. It’s just a pure coincidence that the U.S. and Israel have soooo much in common. So, whenever you see me working, it may appear as though I am concerned first and foremost for that foreign country, but in reality, because there is a lot of overlap between the two countries’ values, it merely looks that way. It’s very complex and I’m sure you find it all confusing. Better not worry your precious mind about it. .
Who knows, perhaps — and I won’t say “American Jews” here because it’s oh too harsh to point out the sad reality — one day when Zionist Americans cause the collapse of the U.S. they will find themselves having to escape to Israel, their safe haven, their emergency shelter.

I guess Ron Paul is CEI (Conservative Except Israel)?
Ron Paul has never been to Israel on a free jaunt. He has never taken a penny from the Israel lobby. He is against sending a single penny to Israel in aid. He is against shedding a single drop of blood on Israel’s wars.
He is the antithesis of Israel-first.
He is America-first.
So am I.

Kagan: Harvard Law’s $476 million dean
link to salon.com
“For example, alumni listed by Harvard as active in the fundraising campaign include Sumner Redstone, chairman of the board of CBS Corp. and Viacom. Redstone and his family are controlling shareholders in both companies.
Plenty of people saw reason to help Kagan’s cause as donors and fundraisers, including prominent attorneys, law firms and business executives, according to law school announcements during the campaign. Among them:
– Law firm Sidley Austin established a visiting professorship of law.
– John Cogan Jr., former chairman of the law firm Hale & Dorr, now called WilmerHale, gave at least $6 million. Kagan announced in early 2009 that the money would be used for the school’s international legal studies program.
– Joseph Flom, a partner in the law firm Skadden Arps, helped found the school’s Petrie-Flom Center for Health Law Policy, Biotechnology and Bioethics.
– Rita Hauser, named by President Barack Obama to his intelligence advisory board, and her husband Gus Hauser donated to establish the Rita E. Hauser Professorship of Human Rights and Humanitarian Law.
– Howard Milstein, chief executive of the New York Private Bank & Trust Corp., and his wife Abby Milstein donated.
– The law firm Wachtell, Lipton, Rosen & Katz donated.
– Finn M.W. Caspersen, a Harvard Law alum, heir to a financial services company fortune and chairman of the fundraising campaign, gave $30 million, Harvard Law’s single largest contribution. A new student center is named after him. Caspersen committed suicide last year.
– Law school graduate and then-Lazard Ltd. financial advisory and assets management firm chief executive Bruce Wasserstein and his family gave $25 million, the second biggest donation in the school’s history. A new hall is named after Wasserstein, who died last year.
– Partners in the Kirkland & Ellis law firm gave $3 million to renovate a large classroom, now named Kirkland & Ellis Hall.
Asked by the Senate Judiciary Committee to list potential conflicts of interest, Kagan didn’t mention her Harvard fundraising, and senators didn’t ask her about it during two days of questioning at her confirmation hearing last week.”
TNR and all the neocons went batshit crazy about her not being nominated instead of Sonia Sotomayor.
Then they pushed for her for the next available spot like crazy. They must have known something that we did not!!!
I am so tired of American officials rushing off to Israel every chance they get. If Netanyahu needs to brief Kagan on the proper vote on upcoming cases, why doesn’t he just send her an email? Encode it in Stuxnet or something, if he’s worried about security.
This lady let the Dersh call Finkelsteins mom a nazi collaborator on his harvard page and did nothing, she hired 90% white males while the dean of harvard law, and pays fealty to a foreign state with no constitution. Fckin Democrat of the year, over here.
This lady is Terrible. So is the guy who appointed her. Roberto Unger is right!!
It’s impossible to believe that someone with her level of education is uninformed about Israel’s behavior, and she has nothing to gain professionally by going there since she’s appointed for life to SCOTUS, so one must come to the conclusion that she supports Israel’s actions.
