Wire services’ Fuhrer images of Netanyahu rankle neocon

I’m late to this story, but it’s interesting. Daniel Halper of the neoconservative Weekly Standard calls these shocking photos, pushed by the wire services last week.

Of the hundreds of professional photos taken at this speech, the AP and Reuters decided to push these onto the wire.

Maybe the shock of recognition? People don’t like Netanyahu. And Israeli policies in the occupied territories remind some people of Nazi Germany. Gaza made me think of the Warsaw Ghetto. Friends of mine have called Israeli soldiers Nazis. With a military occupation on racial lines, these analogies are inevitable… (Hat tip Scott Roth’s twitter feed).

    halper can go f*ck himself and that rag he writes for. the press regularly manipulates images of the disfavored, the hussein-with-hitler-toothbrush-moustache cover photo being but one glaring example. the standard’s current online issue has an unflattering possibly racist caricature of elizabeth warren, a stunned, deer-in-the-headlights look on her face, wearing a faux indian head band. (maybe, the artist fantasizes, scott brown is about to run her down in his truck.) the netanyahu ‘pose’ is his, the photo is accurate, and any writer for a magazine headed by bill kristol who complains about ‘fairness’ should be medicated.

    if netanyahu reminds me of any fascist, it’s not hitler, it’s mussolini, his foot forever stuck in his big mouth, his arrogance, his chronic stupidity and overestimation of his support and influence.

      The theatricals check but the politics don’t. Mussolini was definitely more civilized than N-Yahoo; even though his colonialism was every bit as destructive as that of the others, he did not follow racial supremacist politics like the Nazis and the Zionists. I don’t think that his forces visited atrocities comparable to those of Israeli occupation on any European country they were engaged in (again, with the possible exception of Libya & Abyssinia.)

    Do the young actually remember Hitler and his salute? And maybe N’yahu is left handed. So, nu? But glad the press seized on these images. Propaganda? sure. That’s what everything is. It’s a sight-bite. So was the red-line on the bomb. where are N’yahu’s trainers during all this?

    You can blame Netanyahu for getting the Gruß backwards because his buddy Lieberman has had to keep a very low profile, and was not immediately available to show him exactly how to do it.

    MY COMMENT: Who the hell did Netanyahu think he was speaking to, his “yo-yos” (the U.S. Congress)?
