Emad Burnat is flavor of the moment in Hollywood!

Great video of a photographer apologizing to Emad Burnat, co-director of “5 Broken Cameras,” for his detention at LAX as he and his wife and son and Michael Moore drive off in a KIA, apparently from a Vanity Fair Oscars party. “We’re glad you’re here,” folks call out. And Burnat was on MSNBC today with Andrea Mitchell, who called the documentary of the occupation in Bil’in “gripping.” After Burnat described the oppression of Palestinian children, Mitchell said warily, “Well it’s an unusual voice, and we all congratulate you on your nomination.” An unusual voice– getting more familiar to Americans every day.

Mitchel’s remark was unusual..if it had been about Israeli children I expect she would have a bit less dismissive.

Oklahoma, her husband is Alan Greenspan.

Have you ever heard him comment on Israel?

Or, are you saying (on Mondoweiss no less) that his Jewishness makes him suspect.

Here is something I just read that struck me as interesting, although I don’t quite know what to make of it.

Dror Moreh, the Israeli director of the other Oscar nominated documentary, “The Gatekeepers,” was interviewed by nrg, the website of the Israeli daily newspaper, Ma’ariv, about his last couple of days attending pre-Oscar events.

Moreh said that he briefly met the co-directors of “Five Broken Cameras” at one of the events and that it “was no different from meeting the other nominees, nothing different at all.” Moreh also stated that he had not seen “Five Broken Cameras.”

Why the indifference (hostility?) to Burnat and Davidi whose film critically deals with the same subject as “The Gatekeepers,” the Israeli occupation?

Andrea Mitchell is one of the keep the gates closed on this critical issue in the MSM for decades. “an unusual voice” how deep down racist Andrea. Andrea has for years repeated the I lobbies stance and repeated unsubstantiated claims about Iran. Burnat is the voice of millions of Palestinians and people around the world who have become more aware about the facts on the ground. Andrea may continue to hold a finger in the dike but we all know the dike is busting up. And the folks at Mondoweiss as well as many others are nick nick nicking away at the wall.

The exposure of this issue has come a long way over a long long time since Vanessa Redgrave made her brave stance on this conflict at an Oscar ceremony 37 years ago. Now a documentary about what is really going on is up for an Oscar.

Who was that woman between Burnat and his wife. Sad his other sons could not come they must feel left out. Can you imagine going from the world they live in to Hollywood. What a ride. Hope they maintain…Micheal Moore will help them stay centered. From Israeli hell to Hollywood hell.

Loved that Burnat put up the peace sign….
