Topsy-turvy world. The headline says it all: "Israeli Ambassador Fine With US Cabinet Changes For Obama’s Second Term." From the Associated Press, on CBS site:

Israel’s ambassador to the U.S. said Tuesday that he expects to have a continued good working relationship with President Barack Obama’s administration despite changes in the U.S. diplomatic corps. Michael Oren said after delivering the Landon Lecture at Kansas State University that he did not expect much change

    MY COMMENT: Finally I agree with Oren on something, I also do not expect much change in the relationship between Israel and the Obama administration. During the next four years, the Israeli-Palestinian conflict will be Obama’s “Chinatown”. Like that “nosy fella”* Jake Gittes when he was assigned to Chinatown, Obama will do “as little as possible” regarding the Israeli-Palestinian conflict. Expect to see a heavily camouflaged policy of “benign neglect”. “I get burned once, shame on them; I get burned twice, shame on me!”

      . . . Anyway you slice it, by signing up Livni, Netanyahu is on track to form a sizable, coherent, secure government that satisfies his three crucial constituencies – the settlers, the haredim and Western leaders – without alienating anybody that can give him trouble. . .
      . . . The only ones who have both the ability and the interest to get in his way are the Palestinians, and I wish them all the luck.
