Over 1,000 New Yorkers took to the streets on Thursday in a protest meant to call attention to U.S. complicity in Israel’s attack on Gaza. The march streamed past federal and local government buildings while demonstrators chanted “Free, free Palestine” and “Not another nickel, not another dime, no more money for Israel’s crimes.” Demonstrators held up signs calling for an end to U.S. aid to Israel and voiced support for the boycott, divestment and sanctions (BDS) movement, chanting, “Israel bombs, we protest—boycott, sanction, and divest!”

Organized by a wide coalition of Palestine solidarity groups, it was the latest action in New York City to call attention to the Israeli assault on Gaza. Multiple protests have been held over the past two weeks as the assault ramped up. Earlier this week, Jewish Voice for Peace and Jews Say No! members occupied the Friends of the Israel Defense Forces office to protest their funding of the Israeli military. Nine people were arrested at that action.

More than 170 children have been killed by Israel’s current bombing campaign against Gaza. As a US citizen, I am appalled that my tax dollars are underwriting this kind of carnage,” Code Pink’s Nancy Kricorian said in a statement.

The protest kicked off with a rally in lower Manhattan, where organizers and protesters read aloud the names of the more than 170 Palestinian children slain.

Here’s a collection of photos from the New York City action:

Yes hummus. No Hamas.

Huh?

Is it just me or is there something seriously wrong with the wiring of the brains of the Israel Right or Wrong Crowd?

This is your brain on a lifetime of pro Israel conditioning.

Bravo! Thanks Alex and Christopher.

(The counter- protesters and their signs are quite lame and ridiculous…lol)

Why isn’t this on the TV news shows? Chicago had a really big protest turnout too. That didn’t make the news either.

“Yes Hummus, No Hamas” ?
Talk about hasbara’s attempts to de-intellectualize the discourse.

Pro-israel supporters, they protest because they want to kill more civilians?
Scary people.
