Those killed in Gaza have a name, and each has a family that grieves for them
With the exception of the two men Israel assassinated on Friday March 9 – Zuhair al-Qaisy, secretary-general of the Popular Resistance Committees, and Mahmoud Ahmad Al-Hanini, a Hamas military leader – the Palestinians killed remained nameless in all mainstream media accounts of the recent Israeli attacks on Gaza. Johnny Barber interviews the families of those killed.

A letter from under attack
On Friday, Israel attacked the Gaza Strip, killing at least eleven people. Waleed al-Meadana wrote us saying, “I have no time to choose my words. I am just being spontaneous, for every second counts. Charge or Release? Israeli military courts as an enforcement mechanism of occupation
During Khader Adnan’s hunger strike many expressed that he should be charged, or released. It must be noted that “being charged” in the Israeli military courts, the justice system that governs Palestinians in the occupied West Bank of Palestine, is in no way a solution for Palestinian political prisoners. The abolition of administrative detention (a call which has been taken up by Amnesty International) is a long-term demand of the Palestinian prisoners’ movement – and Israel’s use of this system violates international law.
The Palestinian refugees of Lebanon
In my native Lebanon, where I volunteered last winter in a number of Palestinian refugees camps such as Burj el Barajne, I saw first hand the immense level of deprivation Palestinians face as refugees in Lebanon, where they are prevented from the right to work, from joining any Lebanese trade unions, from owning property and even denied social security.

Beinart is wrong about Zionism, say critics– American Jews heart Israel
The end of the ‘two-state solution’ is the beginning of a more just future
Ever aware that the struggle for liberation must be led by Palestinians, our collective task at the moment, in my view, is to bring about the collapse of the present situation in Palestine in order to exploit its fundamental unsustainabilty.
