Did you see the Muammar Qaddafi argument for a one-state solution on the Times Op-Ed page today? It's dreck. He denies the Nakba (at least an important part of it) and claims the settlements are a sign of successful assimilation! He totally ignores the need for equality and undermines his own argument at every turn. Palestinian political parties in Israel as a sign of success?! And he raises Israel's security concerns without addressing them at all.
Why did the Times run this and not the people who have thought most about this issue, Ali Abunimah or Ilan Pappe or Virginia Tilley? The Times runs a one-state article once every few years. First Edward Said in 1999, then Tarazi in 2004 and now this. Talk about diminishing returns. The first two were seminal, this is a joke. –Adam Horowitz
