‘The New Republic’ explains Lieberman by fingering… the Arabs

The New Republic sent Yossi Klein Halevi to explore "Ground Zero of Israel's new Ultra-Nationalism"– the Lieberman movement that is for getting rid of Israeli Arabs. So it's an article about ultra-nationalist Jews? Well, no. Halevi soon finds his way to anti-Zionist Arabs–who have so much power in Israel (!)– and are bent on destroying the Jewish crusader state.

For [the Israeli Arab party] Balad, peace can only happen when Israel abandons its Jewish
identity–and its Jewish majority. "There is no solution between
Zionism and Palestinian nationalism," says Maryam [Wishahie].

So, Lieberman's party is simply the logical answer to preserving Zionism.

Halevi is a former Kahanist who works at the Adelson Center in Jerusalem. He emigrated a quarter century ago.
