Canard? Zionism fostered suspicion among other Americans that Jews in public life feel a duty to put Israel’s interests first

Disturbed by reports that Obama wants to impose a two-state solution in Israel/Palestine, rightwing Israeli politician Ya'acov Katz sent Obama c-o-s Rahm Emanuel a letter last week to remind him of his Jewish and Israeli origins. (Emanuel was born here but his father was in the terrorist liberation army, the Irgun. Emanuel took a leave from political  duties here back in '91 to serve as a civilian volunteer, wearing an Israeli uniform, at an Israeli military base during the Gulf War.)

The letter even did a little snakehandling, per the JPost:

"For if you remain silent at this time, relief and deliverance for the Jews will arise from another place, but you and your father's family will perish. And who knows but that you have come to royal position for such a time as this?" Katz wrote, quoting from the Book of Esther (4:14).
