As once-obscure Kirsten Gillibrand vaulted into the Senate, she had an epiphany about a certain issue

This will be a short post because it is now such a familiar trope in our political life. I'd bore myself if I went through the details, which of course are always vague, to try and discover why Senator Kirsten Gillibrand changed her mind. But the obscure former-upstate-congresswoman said evenhanded things about Israel at first when she became a senator. Then she met with AIPAC and had an epiphany. I would note that a relatively obscure state senator in Illinois who made similar noises five and six years ago had a similar education when he vaulted into the Senate.
