Saleh Elzuway is a friend who has just left Libya. He sends this note:
For the past ten days, Misrata and Zintan have been without water and electricity. They have been isolated from the rest of Libya and the rest of the world – no phones, no internet and absolutely no medical assistance. People are dying on the streets.
For the past three days the bombing has been relentless. Homes are being wiped out and the people are being murdered whether they are men, women or even children. This message aims at informing the world of the situation. Coalition armies should be aware of what is going on and action should be taken to protect these vulnerable civilians.
I have just left Benghazi and the people of that city are extremely concerned about the people in the west. Libya does not just exist in east. The west of the country also needs protection. People are suffering in great numbers. I do not want my county to be divided. Libya is one people and we are united in our opposition to the Gaddafi regime.
The people want a free Libya and they want their human rights. They want Libyan money to be spent on good things and not on the instruments of Gadaffi’s war. It is important that people in the US and in America know that the revolution wants to improve health and education, the things that other countries have. We are not Al Quada or terrorists. We are Libyans.
