Gideon Levy reports that 100,000 Israelis have German passports. More and more are applying for foreign passports. He says:
“If the Palestinian people already had one real passport, maybe the Israelis wouldn’t need two…. In an irony of history, Europe is in fact becoming a haven for Israelis.”
My headline refers to Herzl’s words favoring Uganda as a temporary home for the Jews, an escape from Europe. Though he dropped that idea under pressure. Thanks to Matthew Taylor for this item.
