’92d St Y’ will toast Rummy next week

Next week the 92d Street Y will honor Donald Rumsfeld by hosting him at a panel on 9/11 10 years after, admission fee $29. Back during the Vietnam war, it would have been impossible to imagine a liberal Jewish group hosting Rob’t McNamara, but times have changed, and neoconservative support for a war against a country that had attacked Israel has implicated the Jewish community at large in this project in a way we were never implicated back then.

Also note the lineup. There is not a critic of the Iraq War on the panel.

Just rightwingers. And Medved is a hothead. There will be no critics of Israel on this panel. Further evidence for the assertion that when it comes to Israel, you gather 300 Jews and get one opinion– further evidence for my belief that it is Impossible for the Jewish community on its own to climb its way out of Zionism. The Jewish Policy Center will hold its next national policy forum, “9/11 A Decade Later: Lessons Learned and Future Challenges,” in New York City in partnership with 92nd Street Y on Thursday, September 8, at 8:00 pm. Moderated by author and nationally-syndicated radio talk show personality Michael Medved, the program features the following confirmed panelists: Donald Rumsfeld, former U.S. Secretary of Defense; Ari Fleischer, former White House Press Secretary; and Michael Mukasey, former U.S. Attorney General. “With the 10th anniversary of 9/11 just a few days after the panel discussion, it is time to reflect on where we have come as a country since the attacks,” said Matthew Brooks, Executive Director of the JPC. “The speakers we have assembled, all of whom were directly involved in 9/11 and it’s [sic] aftermath, can best explore how the United States is faring in the Global War on Terrorism. Is America safer today than in the past? How effective has the U.S. response been? This powerhouse panel will offer unique insights and unparalleled access to some of the most important players in the war on terror. And there is no more fitting venue to have such a discussion than New York City.” 92nd Street Y is located at 1395 Lexington Avenue, New York, NY 10128. The event is $29 and tickets are available HERE. Or call (212) 415-5500. You don’t need to be in New York City to watch the event.
