New commuter station ad seeks to immunize Israel from racism charge

The ad wars on Metro North, the commuter line that pumps the elite into and out of Manhattan, continue. StandWithUs is an Israel lobby group. This ad was up at Harlem-125th Street station this morning. It features Yityish Aynaw, an Ethiopian-born Israeli who served in the Israeli army and became Miss Israel 2013.

For background: Here was an ad last year showing the ethnic cleansing of Palestine. Here was another earlier this spring slamming apartheid in Israel.

For more background: Here is David Sheen’s documentation of anti-African racism in Israel. He introduces it thus:

I have been carefully chronicling the racist attacks against non-Jewish African asylum-seekers in Israel for several years. In January 2012, an organization in Israel that aids African asylum-seekers, the African Refugee Development Center, asked me to author on their behalf a report to the United Nations Committee for the Elimination of Racial Discrimination (CERD). After receiving the report in text and video form, the UN committee urged the Israeli government to prevent racist attacks against Africans in Israel. The Israeli government ignored the UN’s call, and the following month, Israelis firebombed a kindergarten for African children in Tel Aviv, igniting a wave of violence against non-Jewish African people in Israel that is still ongoing. Below are links to the UN reports, in text and video form, social media stories about the recent violence, footage from two years of anti-African rallies, and extended one-on-one interviews about opposition to the presence of Africans in Israel.

The blue of the Israeli flag bleeds into the whole billboard, including the stars and stripes.
Nice graphics. The Black king and queen frame the Jewish star, the heart of the matter.
Btw, was she told to wear black to press the point home, in case we happened to miss it?

Seems like an effective ad to me. If you come from Antarctica and have converted to our religion you can become a full citizen or even a beauty queen. If you have been living in our land at least as long as a big majority of us have and have a different religion, you will probably live under military occupation, be a second class citizen, or a refugee. Maybe it’s not “racist” after all. So what is it?

I guess these people will never learn that it doesn’t immunize you from being a racist just because you are selective in your bigotry. A white person who loves Asian people but hates black folks is still a racist, regardless of how many pictures he can produce of himself buddying around with his Asian friends.

New Mondoweiss headline meant to immunize 22 Arab countries from gender discrimination and racism charges.

I’m not the one ignoring the lack of democracy, transparency, and racial diversity in Arab countries so that I can engage in fashionable criticism of a democracy.

No Hop, you’re the one ignoring the lack of democracy, transparency, and racial diversity in Israel so that I can engage in deflection of criticism of a an apartheid state that that pretends to be a democracy.

No, you’re the one pressing a logical fallacy in response to criticism of an ethno-religious pseudo-democracy in which only 50% of the people who’ve been governed by the state for three generations have a vote in that state.

Let me see if I follow hophmi‘s reasoning: because other countries are even more racist, one can’t criticize a state where lawmakers call African immigrants a “cancer” and pogroms are carried out against that population, but which blackwashes its image by choosing an Ethiopian Jewish beauty queen.

        >> I’m not the one ignoring the lack of democracy, transparency, and racial diversity in Arab countries so that I can engage in fashionable criticism of a democracy.

No, you’re the one using the lack of democracy, transparency and racial diversity in Arab countries to justify Jewish terrorism, the ethnic cleansing of Palestinians from their homes and lands, the establishment of an oppressive, colonialist, expansionist and supremacist “Jewish State” in Palestine, and that state’s 60+ years, ON-GOING and offensive (i.e., not defensive) campaign of aggression, oppression, theft, colonization, destruction and murder.

Zio-supremacists are like wife-beaters who defend their actions by pointing out that rapists are worse. Zio-supremacists don’t want to be as good as the best – they’re content just being better than the worst.

How disgustingly racist to believe that any criticism of the zionist state MUST be in the service of the Arab world.

    >> “President Obama Meets Miss Israel 2013”

What are they trying to say?
    – Why be Muslim, Barry, when Jewish is so much sweeter?
    – Michelle is America: Big and boring. Miss Israel is “Jewish State”: Younger, slimmer and full of adventure!
    – There should be “no light between” two black people?

And why is there no mention of [“Remember] the Holocaust[!”™]? Aren’t they worried that people will forget?

    hmm.
I don’t recall a photo of Mr. Obama meeting Miss America nor Miss USA. This is hasbara, and not so subliminal– funnily enough up at the Harlem-125th station. hmmmm.

This is how a former black Miss America is treated by some here:

“A former Miss America who is black and running for Congress has been called a “street walker,” “love child” and other names by a Republican Party chairman in Illinois.

Erika Harold, a Harvard-trained lawyer who wore the crown in 2003, is challenging Rep. Rodney Davis in a Republican primary. The comments by Montgomery County (Ill.) GOP Chairman Jim Allen were reported by the St. Louis Post-Dispatch.

“Now, Miss Queen is being used like a street walker and her pimps are the DEMOCRAT PARTY and RINO REPUBLICANS,” Allen wrote in an e-mail to Republican News Watch. ” ”

Speaking of StandWithUs. Or was it CAMERA?

Anyway, another Zionist-propaganda outfit, NGO monitor, had one of its employees caught pushing pro-Israel bias on Wiki. Banned.

I recall this happening before. The aim was to push pro-Israel narratives over truth and to filibuster Wiki with articles that slander Palestinian agency.

Yes Seafoid, in a democracy, the ills of a society are actually covered in the newspaper. Now, encourage Arab states to display the same transparency about their own societies.

Israel has massive censorship and media blackouts on stories – so thanks for admitting Israel is not a democracy.
