Yahoo! News has partnered up with a right-wing, pro-Israel media operation to deliver Middle East news to the millions of people who visit the website.

For at least the past two and a half months, Yahoo! News has featured articles from The Blaze, the Glenn Beck-owned news outlet that is a conduit for right-wing misinformation. Launched in 2011, the website modeled after the Huffington Post reports on Beck’s pet causes, like the Israel/Palestine conflict, Christianity and the gold market.

Hop on over to Yahoo! News–part of the Yahoo! empire, the fourth most popular website in the U.S. and the world–and a variety of news outlets are featured on the page. Most of the Yahoo News! partners are familiar, mainstream outlets like the Associated Press, Business Insider and Reuters.

But click on the Middle East page of Yahoo! News, and you’re greeted with a bunch of stories from The Blaze. They constitute the majority of the Middle East news articles on Yahoo! News. Many of them are written by Sharona Schwartz, a former CNN employee who is now “Middle East correspondent” for The Blaze.

An August 11 article on Yahoo! features Schwartz on new “housing units” approved in “east Jerusalem and in Judea and Samaria (also known as the West Bank).” An August 8 article by Schwartz on the Israeli ambassador criticizing the New York Times features quotes from a bevy of neoconservative websites on how the Grey Lady is biased against Israel.

A May 2013 article written by Mike Opelka, another journalist for The Blaze, opines on Secretary of State John Kerry’s comment that Israelis feel a “a sense of security and a sense of accomplishment and of prosperity”–feelings that could block the necessity for an end to the conflict. In an attempt to debunk Kerry’s argument, Opelka writes that “there is Iran’s nuclear program and President Ahmadinejad’s regular promises to wipe Israel off the face of the earth.” That Ahmadinejad quote, though, has long been debunked. Opelka adds that the “groundbreaking products developed in Israel make life better for many people all over the world.”

The website also played a key role in pushing the debunked story that a Saudi national was behind the Boston Marathon bombings. Yahoo! News featured articles that spread that misinformation.

The Blaze engages in no original reporting, a stark contrast to the work outlets like the Associated Press do.

In an e-mail response to questions, Yahoo!’s senior communications manager, Carolyn C. Clark, provided no further details about the relationship. Clark wrote that “Yahoo! News shares content from hundreds of diverse content creators with our users, we do not espouse any one editorial position.”

This isn’t the first time a light has been shone on Yahoo! for misleading articles on Israel/Palestine. A Yahoo! Sports contributor, Adam Waksman, helped to smear Oday Aboushi, the Palestinian-American National Football League player. After the Islamophobic media outlet FrontPage Mag published a hit job on Aboushi, Waksman took to Yahoo! to write that the player had been “accused of playing an increasing role in anti-Israel and anti-Semitic activism,” a charge for which there was no evidence. After the smear campaign got negative attention, Yahoo! took Waksman’s post down.

The relationship with The Blaze, though, continues.

We need a petition-drive to change Yahoo’s mind on this at least as to single-sourcing. Anyone got any suggestions?

Glenn Beck is a fake libertarian whose independent media platform appears to have vast financial support from Zionist investors. TheBlaze.com is shockingly Islamophobic and the fact that its hate-filled articles are tricking into the YahooNews ecosystem is appalling. Is Beck getting paid for providing content, or is he simply using it as a promotion for his BeckTV platform? In either case, his site is absolutely unreadable.

Didn’t Beck’s show go off the air because, he use to connect the dots concerning major influences on current government trajectories he didn’t like, putting names/faces on those dots on his chalk board, and somebody with a voice in his employer’s ear noticed an awful lot of those dots were Jewish? Beck himself never mentioned or suggested those dots were individual Jews. Thus, although he always megaphoned hasbara, and although his show had good ratings, and although he went to Israel, waving the Zionist flag, he was nevertheless whisked off the air. His show’s employer had decided too many in Beck’s audience might notice way too many of his culprit connecting dots to what was screwing up America were Jews. I wonder if Glen Beck ever put two and two together? My guess is that, Beck, a German American, did, after the fact of his removal, and he decided there was another way to make more bundles of cash–with Yahoo, not his old chalk board on his former TV show. I conclude Beck’s key character is that he’s a Christian Zionist who is relentless in making lots of cash off of Jewish zionists, and I think he’s doing very well at that. The irony is that he thinks he’s a real American, most concerned about American interests, but he’s really just a tool of Israel Firsters, whether Jewish or Christian Zionists, and he’s harming America’s best interests.

You are probably referring to a particular special in which he chose to attack the liberal George Soros as “The Puppet Master” using tropes that his paymasters at Fox viewed as excessively anti-semitic. Soros was portrayed as a greedy conniving Jew using his enormous wealth to pull strings behind the scenes. It is acceptable to demonize the left, especially with blatant racist dogwhistles against blacks and muslims, but using anti-semitic tropes cut uncomfortably close to the bone.

Beck, like all modern far rightists, has to weave a delicate line. On the one hand, he is doubtless personally deeply anti-semitic, like the far right has always been. On the other hand, he’s also profoundly Islamophobic, plus he is on the side of entrenched wealth and power and wants as much wealth and power for himself as possible. That means his dealings with Jews are going to be extremely uneasy. Beck has figured out he has to stay clear of the Jewish power stuff if he wants to stay in business. But you can bet he’d start with it again at any time if the leash came off.

This is nonsense. Beck is ferociously pro-Zionist. If he was anti-Semitic he could simply ignore Israel as an issue of foreign policy not relevant to American politics. But instead he glorifies Israel at every opportunity.

For that matter the overwhelming majority of conservatives in the U.S. are not anti-Semitic, but are instead passionately Zionist and if anything, philo-Semitic.

The official reason for booting Beck’s show off Fox was that he was ruining the credibility of Fox News as an objective news channel. In a subsequent interview, Beck himself said that his biggest mistake on Fox News was his now-famous comment that President Barack Obama had a “deep-seated hatred for white people,” which sparked an advertising boycott organized by liberal groups.

Beck has the Defender of Israel Award from the ZOA: http://www.jta.org/2011/11/21/news-opinion/politics/at-zoa-dinner-glenn-beck-dishes-out-the-pro-israel-meat

Former Senator Joe Lieberman recommended him early on his career, to study at Ivy league, although he only had a high school education.

It never ceases to amaze me how much the Left fear open discussion. It’s either agree with me or you are illegitimate. You should welcome diversity Alex instead of the re-enforce my belief system media you are essentially pushing and consuming.

Have you purchased your Soda Stream yet? I know where you can get the new model with the digital screen. So cool.
Something positive seems to be happening at Yahoo. Seen the share price recently? It is obvious that a lot of people do not agree with you Alex. Follow The Blaze, you may learn something.

ANOTHER GROUNDBEAKING PRODUCT DEVELOPED IN ISRAEL AND COMING SOON TO A COMMUNITY NEAR YOU* TO “MAKE LIFE BETTER”:
“IDF Skunk Cannon Odorizes West Bank”, by Richard Silverstein, Tikun Olam, 3/06/13

[EXCERPT] The IDF routinely uses a truly disgusting weapon of war to maintain the Occupation: a skunk cannon. To the uninitiated, imagine instead of fire hoses and police dogs, Sheriff Bull Connor used a massive stream of raw sewage mixed with skunk oil and let it fly not just on the civil rights marchers but all the citizens and businesses in town. Then imagine you’re one of the victims and it’s flying at you from a truck the size of a small tank. The ostensible purpose of this vehicle is to disrupt protests on the West Bank. Keep in mind, that these are for the most part totally non-violent incidents in which demonstrators are expressing their legitimate opposition to issues like building the Separation Wall, which in itself is an illegal project under international law. In short, the purpose of the skunk cannon is not to break up violent rallies or protect the IDF from the wrath of Palestinians. It is purely meant to suppress the political will of the Palestinian people.
Ynet reports (Hebrew) that in addition to spraying protesters, those who operate the vehicles randomly spray residential homes and businesses having nothing to do with the demonstrations. This is collective punishment . . .

    ENTIRE ARTICLE – http://www.richardsilverstein.com/2013/03/06/idf-skunk-cannon-odorizes-west-bank/

    *P.S. FROM WIKIPEDIA [Skunk (weapon)]:

[EXCERPT] “Skunk” is a malodorant, non-lethal weapon used for crowd control by the Israeli Defense Forces. Deriving its name from the animal of the same name, “Skunk” is dispersed as a form of mist, fired from a water cannon, which leaves a terrible odor of rot or sewage on whatever it touches. It does not wash off easily and is said to linger on clothes for up to five years.[1] First attempts at developing a scent-based form of crowd control began in Israel in 2004; Skunk was first used for crowd control in September 2008.
According to David Ben Harosh, head of technological development for the Israeli police, the recipe is based entirely on natural organic ingredients, including yeast and baking powder, does not include any harmful materials, and may even be ingested without causing harm. The inventors plan to market Skunk to other forces worldwide. . .
