Israeli forces kill two Palestinians in massive Nablus raid

The Israeli army raided the al-Yasmina neighborhood of the Old City of Nablus in the predawn hours of Sunday morning in an attempted arrest operation, cordoning off a house in the neighborhood and bombarding it with explosives and gunfire.

Israeli forces shot and killed two Palestinians on Sunday during a violent raid in the northern occupied West Bank city of Nablus.

The Israeli army raided the al-Yasmina neighborhood of the Old City of Nablus in the predawn hours of Sunday morning in an attempted arrest operation, cordoning off a house in the neighborhood and bombarding it with explosives and gunfire.

Unconfirmed local reports stated that the primary target of the raid was 28-year-old Ibrahim Nabulsi, a fighter and prominent leader within the Nablus arm of the Islamic Jihad faction’s military wing, the Al-Quds Brigades.

The raid prompted a gunfight with local Palestinian fighters, who barricaded themselves in a house in the neighborhood. The Islamic Jihad and Fatah movements released a statement, saying their fighters “confronted the Zionist occupations forces” during the raid.

Two men belonging to the Al-Quds Brigades were killed. They were identified as Muhammad Azizi, 25, and Abdul Rahman Sobh, 28. The Palestinian Ministry of health said that Azizi was shot in the chest, and Sobh was shot in the head.

The ministry reported that at least six other Palestinians were wounded during the shoot out. Wafa News Agency reported 10 injuries, including at least one person who was shot in the head.

Thousands of Palestinians took part in the funeral for the two men in Nablus on Sunday afternoon. A general strike was held in the city in mourning over their deaths.

Israeli raids on Palestinian cities and villages are a near nightly occurrence in the West Bank, and often result in the injury or killing of Palestinians.

At least 65 Palestinians have been killed by Israeli forces since the start of the year. The UN reported that the number of Palestinians killed by Israeli forces in the West Bank and East Jerusalem increased by 46% in the first half of 2022, compared to the same period in 2021.

I sometimes wonder: What would happen if Palestinians went into a Jewish settlement and killed the people who attacked farmers and shepherds? Would the western media ignore it?

‘The raid prompted a gunfight with local Palestinian fighters, who barricaded themselves in a house in the neighborhood. The Islamic Jihad and Fatah movements released a statement, saying their fighters “confronted the Zionist occupations forces” during the raid.’

Could someone in the know please explain to me what weaponry the Palestinian fighters have. I understand why these firefights are a mismatch, I do not understand why — if Palestinians have arms, if IDF raids into Palestinian towns are commonplace — why there aren’t more IDF casualties. Because there appear to be virtually none. What kind of tactics are Palestinians employing? Because, again, there appear to be none.

Such events have been commonplace for at least 50 years. Has to be by design. Keeps the blood hot, revenge in mind, and coexistancing considerations off the table.
