What a great week for the Empire!
The State Department’s Office of Palestinian Affairs held a “town hall” about travel in Palestine — and routinely referred to Israeli military checkpoints as “pedestrian crossings” between the West Bank and Israel. So much for apartheid and Jewish supremacy.
Joe Biden has put out the word, go get your photo-ops with Netanyahu, and Democrats are all over Israel, sucking up. The New York mayor is going to Israel for four days to “combat antisemitism.” The rightwing Israel lobby group AIPAC just published cringe-hour videos of Democratic members of Congress in Israel professing their love for Israel. 20 of 24 Dems on the AIPAC trip recorded hostage videos, including Hakeem Jeffries, who came back to raise money in Martha’s Vineyard this week as a “justice warrior.”
Hollywood is on board. Helen Mirren has a Golda Meir biopic coming out this week. Sure to be heroic!
And the mainstream media is down too. PBS New Hour hosts Netanyahu’s minister of strategic affairs for a puffball sitdown, and Nick Schifrin never asks Ron Dermer about: Apartheid, Smotrich, Ben-Gvir, or that day’s horrifying news of Israeli soldiers beating a Palestinian man so badly as to leave a gruesome imprint on his face. And when Dermer goes on about keeping the Middle East nuke-free, Schifrin never asks, Wait, don’t you have nuclear weapons? Because that’s impolite in Washington.
Yes the Empire had a great week.
Yet things are still falling apart, you can see it all around us. The Democrats are plainly afraid of their own base on this issue. Becca Balint of Vermont went to Israel on that AIPAC trip but avoided the cameras — small victory! And seemed to avoid Netanyahu too.
Netanyahu’s fascistic coalition is the greatest advertisement for anti-Zionism we have seen in a generation. Israeli Jews are finally declaring that it’s an apartheid state. And some American mainstream voices are starting to call apartheid apartheid.
The arc of the moral universe is long, but it bends towards justice. Hold on, change is coming.

Having hollowed out US sovereignty and taken control of all major US media, Israel is a far greater threat to US independence than any other nation. Russia? China? They are nothing compared to the death grip Israel has on US democracy.
There are some reviews of “ Golda” out and apart from whatever its politics are, the reviews are basically “ meh”. Some people liked it and others didn’t.
