At a time when the Palestinian freedom struggle is gaining steam and spreading internationally, Germany has made anti-Palestinian racism its new status quo.

Israel has a long-standing policy of refusing to release the bodies of Palestinians who have been killed by its military for burial. This is yet another form of collective punishment, where Israel uses the dead as an example to anyone who dare challenges the apartheid state.

The Bundestag 3 for Palestine is challenging Germany’s anti-BDS law in court. “What unites us plaintiffs” they said, “is our unconditional support and commitment to human rights. Without exception, we oppose all forms of racism, discrimination and oppression: which must include the Palestinians.”  

On Tuesday, May 15th, students at the Beacon School in New York announced a moment of silence for Palestinians killed in Gaza. Some Zionist parents of students called for the removal of the principal who allowed the commemoration. Hebh Jamal writes, “The careful targeting of academic institutions is a tactic that occurs in New York City all the time as any pro-Palestinian rhetoric is written off as terrorism or anti-semitism.”
