A bill moved by Palestinian parliamentarians saying that Israel must be a “State of All Its Citizens” was not permitted to be debated in the Israeli Knesset. Even left and centrist Zionist parties blocked its movement. The Israeli parliament has declared that Israeli democracy is for Jews only, blocking the essential reform that would transform Israel toward the equality that is at the core of democracy.

Israeli snipers have killed 44 Gazans during protests and wounded nearly 2000. A senior officer told Haaretz that most Gazans killed by the IDF since March 30th were killed accidentally. The claim directly contradicts IDF’s official statement of 31st March, in which the army claimed that “nothing was carried out uncontrolled, everything was accurate and measured, and we know where every bullet landed.”

After young ‘Ahed Tamimi humiliated Israeli soldiers in occupied Nabi Saleh, the Israeli army needed to release a video of the 16-year-old girl’s arrest in the middle of the night. The incident shows that hasbara is directed mostly at Israelis and Jews to convince them of Israel’s rightness and strength, even if that means exposing the hateful practice of detaining children.

Israeli Deputy Foreign Minister Tipi Hotovely was hoisted by her own petard and Prime Minister Netanyahu has been reported as “checking the procedure” for firing her. Hotovely’s sin is that she committed a classic gaffe: she was caught on tape saying what she thought. About American Jews. In English.

Yossi Gurvitz recounts how he went from growing up in a national-religious family in Petah Tikva to rejecting Judaism. For him, it all started in yeshiva: “On October 28th, 1984, I had my first crisis of faith. That evening, David Ben Shimol – an IDF soldier – fired a stolen anti-tank rocket into a Palestinian bus as vengeance for an earlier Palestinian terror attack. Every evening we had a seder erev, which began punctually and without fail at 19:10. That evening, for the first and only time I was in Nechalim, it was postponed. So that people could have time enough to dance.”
