    A vision for the future is certainly not a closed question to which the only answers are yes or no. Without objectives, any path will lead there.

    The relationship with Israelis is for Palestinian thought leaders to discuss and debate…. assuming a Palestinian readership, MW could facilitate.

    I have suggested factoring in that Americans and Israelis have been propagandized yet are especially valuable allies to cultivate. That poorly understood slogans unite oppositions and can be self-defeating. That warriors for greater Israel could be effectively challenged by disiplined campaigning for equal rights.

    If you watch Prime Minister Netanyahu’s statements on YouTube, he claims that there was a “Ring of Fire” shown on a map of the Middle East. He claims that the Assad regime in Syria was an enemy. But leaked documents and reports show that the Assad regime in Syria engaged in secret intelligence sharing with the Israel Defense Forces (IDF) before its collapse in late 2024. These communications involved warnings about Hamas activities, coordination against Iranian positions in Syria, and attempts to secure the border. In fact, the massive bombing campaign in Syria only occurred after the Assad regime was overrun and fell, That’s when Netanyahu destroyed the military equipment and facilities that fell to the Syrian transitional government

    Re: So any attempt to ask them about the top 3 of their crimes against the Palestinian people (excluding Jewish Palestinians) must remained unanswered by default,

    Bear in mind that In 2009, the UK Supreme Court ruled (5-4) that the Jewish Free School (JFS) in London practiced direct racial discrimination, because the students personal religious beliefs were irrelevant. Putting aside the issue of mamzers, it dd not matter if students believed they were Jewish, attended Synagogue, and prayed to the God of Israel three times a day. Unless their mothers were also Jewish, they still weren’t “Jewish” either, even if both their parents were person’s of Jewish descent…

    Jewish historians record conversions from “Anti-Zionism” to “Zionism”. It is just a philosophy or religious belief, even among Jews. It’s not a different ethnicity or nationality.

    There is no agreed upon legal definition that can be employed to answer the preliminary question “Who is a Jew?” or “What is Judaism?” During the UNSCOP hearings Ben-Gurion, Shertok, and the Chief Rabbi gave three different answers and never came to an agreement. The Israeli Supreme Court, The State Rabbinate, and Minister of Aliyah and Integration still don’t agree on a definition. So, it should come as no surprise that Rep. Jamie Raskin admitted our government has been using the IHRA Definition of Antisemitism for many years, but it contains no definition of Antisemitism (i.e. failure to state a claim).

    The UN Secretary General’s 1950 report on the UN and LoN legal instruments that listed the Palestine minority and religious rights agreements, Dr. W. Thomas Mallinson and Sally V. Mallinson works on the Palestine legal status and minority and religious treaties, and the ICJ legal summary of the international treaty safeguard regime from the Treaty of Berlin, The Palestine Mandate, The Chapter on Minorities, Religion, and Linguistics in resolution 181(II), and the Armistice Agreements were all legally binding treaty instruments, not mere recommendations.

    So saying Anti-Zionist Jewish beliefs are a Religious Minority or “Antisemitic“, is just a failure to state a claim for judicial relief that can be granted,

    In any event, The Civil Rights Act of 1964 contains an express prohibition against “Shared Ancestry or Ethnic Characteristics Discrimination”. So its illegal to discriminate between Palestinian Jews, Palestinian Christians, Palestinian Muslims, Palestinian Apikorsim, & etc.

    Duty to prevent genocide doesn’t mean freedom to take any coercive geopolitical action. And if countries recognize Israel or not doesn’t make any difference.

    But I wouldn’t have a moral problem to close the strait for countries who are directly or indirectly committing or supporting this war, its crimes and/or sanctions against Iran. And I like Iran’s predictable tit for tat approach.

    @Hostage “You were, and still are, colonists, thieves, and murders.”

    Well some Zionists have replaced “colonists, thieves, and murders.” with “in our ancestral homeland”. Which is like being squatters who took over a house through violence, driving out its residents, and justifying it by claiming (without any proof) that it used to be the house of their great, great, great, and so on grandparents, just because they allegedly shared the same religious or, nowadays, ethnic background and therefore these Zionists have always simply been living there.

    So any attempt to ask them about the top 3 of their crimes against the Palestinian people (excluding Jewish Palestinians) must remained unanswered by default, because, Zionist Jews in Palestine just “are” and who ever is against that must obviously be an antisemite who targets their very passive and peaceful existence.

    I disagree with characterizing Israelis as inherently war-junkies. However, one can argue that the establishment and expansion of (Greater-) Israel involved dynamics that scholars often associate with settler colonialism, including conflict over land and the displacement of the native population. Some analyses further interpret certain policies through the lens of ethnonationalism and, in more severe assessments, as carrying genocidal dimensions.
    I would rather make the claim that Zionists are Greater Israel junkies with all the crimes against humanity that this involves.

    Shutting down a local human rights organization through legal designation, raids, and financial pressure reflects a classic colonial logic:

    • Delegitimizing indigenous institutions that challenge authority
    • Framing dissent as a security threat to justify repression
    • Monopolizing who is allowed to produce “legitimate” knowledge about conditions on the ground

    Historically, colonial administrations often restricted or dissolved local organizations that documented abuses or mobilized the population, precisely because they undermined external control.

    I’m a Jewish candidate for New York comptroller. Our state must divest from Israel bonds….Responding to the Hamas massacre of its civilians on Oct. 7, 2023, Israel said it would do what any country would do: defend itself and get its hostages back. But Netanyahu’s government has gone much further than that. It has unleashed overwhelming killing power, leaving tens of thousands of Palestinian civilians dead and millions more displaced and destitute. It has leveled a stretch of land the size of Brooklyn and Queens — dropping nearly as many bombs in that crowded space in the first week of fighting as fell during an entire year of the U.S. war in Afghanistan….

    The World Can Have Peace Or Israel, But Not Both

    And Other Notes

    Caitlin Johnstone

    Apr 09, 2026

    Israel is already aggressively sabotaging the Trump administration’s two-week ceasefire with Iran by slaughtering huge numbers of civilians in Lebanon, a nation which is explicitly off-limits for any attack under the ceasefire conditions agreed to by Tehran.

    The US and Israel are trying to claim that Lebanon is not part of the ceasefire agreement, but Pakistan, whom the US appointed to mediate the agreement, says this is false. The New York Times reports that the White House took part in Pakistan’s public messaging which explicitly included Lebanon in the ceasefire conditions, before changing its tune after Israel attacked.

    Iran has reportedly responded to these violations by again halting traffic through the Strait of Hormuz.

    This serves as yet another reminder that the world can have peace or it can have Israel — but it cannot have both. Israel is a genocidal apartheid state whose entire existence is premised upon a strategy of unceasing violence and abuse in the middle east. As long as that state continues to exist in its present iteration, peace will never be attainable.

    If your job hired a guy who kept getting into fights with your coworkers and saying it’s because they are racist against him, for a week you might believe him.

    After a month, you’d have doubts.

    After two months, you’d realize he’s probably just an asshole.

    Israel has been doing this for eighty years.”

    It is apparent that the Epstein files are an effective social media & corporate media distraction from the vastly greater ongoing crimes being committed by the US government and the oligarchy that owns it. Given that the criminal justice system and most laws in the USA were designed to protect that oligarchy, why would anyone think that complete disclosure of those files would result in anything substantial being done against the rich, powerful men and women named in them? Trump is committing horrific crimes – real, prosecutable offences – against people in the USA and overseas all the time yet nothing is done. The Dems are on his side. The statement “Israelis are war junkies” should not be considered some thoughtless and trivial joke: political analysts have long observed that Israel’s policy towards the world is characterized by militaristic nationalism and a deep aversion to negotiation** – if we had to find a single phrase that characterizes Israel’s foreign policy it would be ‘mowing the lawn’. I recommend this article in Current Affairs by Trita Parsi:

    So much of the kind of warfare that the Israelis sought to normalize in Gaza that are complete violations of international law, complete violations of all norms around the use of force, are now being replicated in Iran by the United States and Israel…. Now, seeing that the strikes are hitting desalination plants and oil refineries that don’t even allow people to breathe afterward because the air is so poisoned, and you actually had acid rain and petroleum rain afterward, it’s becoming clear to the vast majority what probably already was clear to many Iranians: this is not a war against the regime, this is a war against the nation…. So, in this broader “mowing the lawn” type of strategy that they have vis-à-vis the Palestinians and the Syrians and the Lebanese, they’re trying to bring Iran into it as well. This war has ensured that they don’t have to do this again for another 10 years, rather than having to do it every two years or every eight months….The Israeli strategy is one in which they achieve security, not through deterrence, not through balancing other states, not by managing threats, but by eliminating threats and achieving dominance. Security through dominance. Which means that, from their standpoint, they’re far less concerned about what type of a regime is governing a state and far more concerned about its capabilities. Look what they did as soon as Assad fell in Syria. As they said themselves on TV, within 20 minutes, they turned all of Syria into a shooting range. They blew up everything they could to ensure that whoever would follow Assad, whoever the next government would be, would not have the capability to challenge Israel’s domination.

    That’s not what our US and Israeli historians, legal scholars, or the victims themselves have to say on the subject. You simply denied it when I pointed out recent Haaretz articles on the subject written by Arab speaking Mizrahi Jews. The Ashkenazi Jews would not accept Mizrahi or African Sephardi Jewish nominees from Bechor-Shalom Sheetrit. Our own immigration laws prohibited naturalization of Jews born in Ottoman Asia, because the were adjudged non-White. European-born Jews were permitted entry and naturalization. I’ve qouted Jewish Colonization Society spokesmen here in the USA who wrote editorials that claimed Ukrainian and Russian Jews were not White and unfit for immigration. Tom Segev has written that Ashkenazi Jews put Arab Jews from Yemen in tent camps or gave them inadequate living conditions, and while insisting pillaged homes were needed for survival of European Jews. Ethiopian Jews were involuntarily sterilized. Who do you think all of your constant dissimilation will succeed in deceiving?

    “Ethiopian Israelis face systemic anti-Black racism, resulting in significant socioeconomic gaps and disproportionate criminal justice involvement. Studies indicate Ethiopian Israelis are incarcerated at a rate 760% higher than their proportion in society, with young Ethiopian Israelis 2.5 times more likely to be arrested than their peers.

    Key Aspects of Anti-Black Racism Against Ethiopian Israelis:

    • Incarceration and Policing:
    • According to 2022 data, Ethiopian Israelis make up roughly 3.5% of all prisoners while being only ~1.7% of the general population.
    • About 40% of soldiers of Ethiopian origin have been imprisoned.
    • Young offenders of Ethiopian descent are three times more likely to be incarcerated.
    • The community reports disproportionately high levels of police stop-and-searches.

    • Socioeconomic Disparities:
    • Significant income gaps exist, with Ethiopian Jews experiencing limited job opportunities, lower wages, and inferior housing.
    • Systemic barriers lead to discrimination in employment and education, including instances of school rejection.

    • Systemic Discrimination:
    • Many Ethiopian Israelis report systemic racism in both public spaces and state institutions.
    • The community faces challenges in cultural adaptation, with their religious leaders long denied recognition.

    • Marginalization:

    Despite successes in many areas, the ~170,000 Ethiopian Israelis remain a marginalized community experiencing persistent racism and economic disadvantage.”

    This is not even a difficult choice. The Big Beautiful Bill caused millions to lose their rural hospitals, Medicaid, SNAP benefits, and the deficit to surpass 39 trillion this year before the war in Iran. Now Trump has demanded Medicare cuts to pay for his undeclared war. The overwhelming majority of voters consider all of this patently unconstitutional. Remember that even Congress and the President cannot overturn the sovereign will of the people and their state legislatures as expressed in the Constitution.

    When the people require a Declaration of War from Congress or require that the Legislative branch regulate any call up of the National Guard and punish piracies, felonies on the high seas, and violations of the Laws of Nations, that literally means SCOTUS, the President, and Congress need to Amend the Constitution before claiming the power to let Trump or Pete Hegseth contradict those requirements and invade our cities, murder people on the streets or on the high seas, declare war on Iran, threaten to invade Panama, Greenland and still expect sane persons to accept bullshit obfuscation from our corporate media that any of those blatant criminal enterprises is somehow unclear, acceptable, or our hands are tied. Re: Will the war end?

    I’m no prophet, but certainly not in our lifetime. Colonial family rights to inherit estates acquired by colonial genocidal wars and colonial ethnic cleansing, combined with inherited lands acquired from the international merchantile and arms trade date back long before the era of Spinoza. Any possibility for equitable reparations to the survivors and their lost family rights and estates inevitably results in demands to legally entrench superior colonial era claims and rights. See: Carney’s rival says he must help homeowners in Indigenous case.

    Issac De Pinto, a family patriarch had become Chairman of both the Dutch East India and West India Companies by 1749. Those companies had Jewish stockholders and a long history in the slave trade. They transported over a million persons into slavery and owned over a quarter of the shares when the Dutch owners ordered Peter Sturdevant to admit Portugese Jews into New Amsterdam with their African Roman Catholic and Muslim slaves. So imagine the nonsensical nature of the Zionists propaganda when the Harvard University Crimson published an anonymous Letter to the Editor and claimed the East and West India Companies never engaged in the slave trade. The philosophers Plato and the historian Xenophon wrote that Socrates was tried and sentenced to death for poisoning the minds of the children. Zionist propadandists have published ridiculous lies anonymously ever since. 🤑 British Admiral George Rodney was accused of systematically pillaging the Jewish community on the Dutch Caribbean island of Sint Eustatius. But historians failed to mention they made a fortune selling arms to the rebels of the US Continental Army, and from the Caribbean slave trade. Like Hegseth, President Wilson falsely claimed America was founded as a Christian Nation, but he segregated the US government, praised the KKK, remained neutral throughout the war with the Ottomans, stayed silent when they and their allies the Kurds massacred 300,000 Assyrian Christians, and secretly agreed to give Palestine to the Zionist Jews. Those policies and Trump’s attempts to betray the Syria Kurds and enlist them to overthrow the Iranian regime, and take everyone’s oil simply rollsback the clock to the San Remo Red Line Oil Concession Plan. They are not supported by scripture, just imperialism, personal greed, deceit, and racism.

    That’s my opinion on the subject. As usual, YMMV.

    Re Israel’s military actions, people who write about international relations and American foreign policy are not thrilled about Israel. Here’s one example from Responsible Statecraft:

    For peace with Iran to work a reckoning with Israel is in order…..Arguably, the most important part of preventing a restart of the war before May is ensuring that our relationship with Israel returns to its rightful order. The U.S. is not a tool to be used to further Israeli regional ambitions. It should never go to war on behalf of any foreign government…..The most recent escalation by Israel in Lebanon, which should be noted, shows a flagrant lack of respect for Washington, and also underscores a pattern that is as evident as it is problematic: a seemingly deliberate attempt to prevent or undermine the ability of the U.S. to negotiate with Iran…..First, the U.S. did not go to war in the interest of of the American people. Rather, the stated rationale by Secretary of State Marco Rubio, Speaker of the House Mike Johnson, and others, on Feb. 28, was that Israel was going to attack Iran; therefore, we needed to join them to protect our troops stationed in the region (Rubio has since walked his remarks back)….Especially egregious was the conflict, which was launched in the middle of U.S.-Iranian negotiations, opened with the targeted killing of Iran’s head of state Ayatollah Khomeini and several members of his immediate family...Second, Israel’s track record of adhering to ceasefire agreements, especially as of late, has been abysmal. Since the declaration of a ceasefire in Gaza on Oct. 10, 2025, Israel has violated the ceasefire agreement at least 2,073 times, and this data only runs through March 18, 2026….Simply put, this presents a pattern that is not only inconsistent with American values and historical precedent but also at odds with how we fight wars. Each one of these targeted actions appears at face value to not only prevent de-escalation, but more importantly, to entrench the U.S. in a conflict by eliminating those within Iran who are moderate enough to negotiate…..Israeli leadership must be reminded where their financial and military aid comes from and that this relationship is not a blank check….

    “Like all racists, Livvy is obsessed with skin color (whites/ non-whites, etc. ). I’ve been wondering – as someone who couldn’t care less about people’s skin color – whether the designation “whites ” is just a matter of pigmentation or is it also a cultural matter. After all, Israeli Jews and Palestinians don’t differ in skin color. Here in Beersheva , at the shopping malls, supermarkets, restaurants, cafes and on the bus, one certainly can’t tell them apart based on skin color.”

    ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
    No need for you to keep wondering … and you bring up “shopping malls, supermarkets, restaurants, cafes, and on bus can’t tell them apart”…
    What happens to Arabs, Christians & Muslims when your Apartheid Israeli police, IDF, at checkpoints, at Tel Aviv airport and various agencies asks for verification of Israeli ID Cards? Do they get the same treatment (no hassle) as Jewish Israelis (“don’t differ in skin color”)?
    Who is more likely to get through faster/no hassles from such racist systems … Arabs/Christians/Muslims or Jewish Israelis?
    PS. I disagree with Khalidi, there have been at least 144 years of War in Palestine, not just 120. I’ve stated before that Israel has a memorial list that cites a fallen Zionist combatant from the 1880s. Zionists initiated an illegitimate war then – with no valid Casus belli. They simply rejected the 1878 Declaration of the Ottoman government guarantees of equal civil and political rights, without any religious discrimination. That was all contained in Article 62 of the Treaty of Berlin, and repeated once again when those same “existing rights of non-Jews in Palestine” were placed under legal safeguard and became the subject of an additional legal undertaking in the verbatim text of the San Remo Resolution of the draft British Mandate. I’ve also cited the fact that the US, British, and French governments declassified archives have proven they never intended to honor those legal requirements of equal rights, obtaining the consent of the governed, or self-determination of the peoples. So the Arab Revolt was always a lawful undertaking of armed resistance and so was their Casus belli. But, while that cause remains valid, jus in bello (Latin for “law in war”) governs conduct during an armed conflict – and war crimes or crimes against humanity can, and do occur, even in just wars. Modern international law in the UN Charter prohibits unilateral declarations of war of endless wars of aggression. A third of the Jewish colonials never ever bothered to apply for Palestinian citizenship. They also have lied about the acceptance of the Declaration on Minority rights that was required and included in their “Declaration of the Establishment of Israel”. Like the Ihlen Declaration, that was an enforceable treaty declaration. The UN required Israel to acknowledge it as supreme, fundamental law that could not be overturned of amended by conflict laws or regulations, without General Assembly consent. It is not merely advisory, or optional. Israel accepted a compromissory clause that granted the ICJ jurisdiction to resolve any dispute over the terms of the Minority, Religious, and Liguistics Protection Plan. It was simply a continuation of the “existing rights” that were placed under safeguarding clauses in the Treaty of Berlin, San Remo Resolution, the British Mandate, and the UN “Protection Plan” for “The Future Government Of Palestine”
    I don’t much care who lived where 2000 years ago, but respect people’s religious attachments to Israel— 3 religions have them. But nothing excuses the Nakba. You keep reciting this stuff about people not being colonialists and feeling at home and so forth and I wouldn’t have a problem with that in the abstract, except for the teensy little fact that Israel exists as a majority Jewish state because of the expulsion of the Palestinians— Haaretz had yet more details about that a couple of months ago. ( Someone linked to an archived copy— I don’t subscribe.)
    Israel did not have the right to do that and has no right to keep Palestinians out of their homeland. The only argument one could make on that would be that the two sides might hate each other too much to live in the same state and nobody is going to force Israel to take them back, but that is realpolitik argument and has nothing to do with sentimental stuff about who feels at home.
    Oh, good grief. You really want to argue that? Very well, then whenever Israel commits genocide we also have to point out they killed some Hamas members who in some cases were guilty of war crimes. Gotta be balanced.
    On Oct 7, Hamas hit military targets but who gives a damn? They didn’t stop with military targets and what they did did not do a thing to stop the ensuing genocide. What Oct 7 is rightly remembered for are the Hamas atrocities, just as anyone who isn’t a moral idiot will emphasize Israel’s genocide in Gaza and its slaughters in Lebanon and not, for example, gush and slobber like the NYT over its glorious pager attack which injured many Hezbollah members along with random children and other civilians. Israel attacks military targets all the time. Sometimes they even kill a war criminal, someone who killed civilians. They also kill civilians all the time on a far greater scale. Does the one balance the other in some way? Nope.
    Allthough I find your explanation unsattisfying it is still revealing that the states that have designated Hamas as a terror organisation represent less than 14% of the world population and that almost all of them have a colonial or imperial past or are settler states. Those who are not only represent 0.35% of the world population.
    Yes, that’s correct. The Zionists were alien colonizers and always were racists, intent on dominating the Palestinians and controlling the Middle East militarily and economically. They said as much themselves in writing. I’ve quoted them verbatim for more than a decade right here. It was just an old legend and fanasty, but they and their Western sponsors decided to make it a reality.
    The Law of Nations and International Law contained absolute prohibitions that permitted no exception. But Palestinian family land rights and prohibition of pillage simply didn’t apply them or anyone labeled “provisionally recognized” as a “developoing” state or “uncivilized”. Today our legislatures and courts just call their targets terrorists or countries that support terrorism, whether or not they actually have terrorized anyone or ever intended to. There are many other reasons for belligerency. I’ve pointed out that SCOTUS even employed the “Papal Right of Discovery” to explain its invented “Plenary Power” to regulate US Native American citizens based on a case from the late 20th Century. They still don’t enjoy equal rights today. Indigenous people’s they wish to racially dominate or persecute still aren’t considered by many to be Constitutional “Birthright Citizens”. Trump, and British or Canadian companies are mining lithium and extracting oil on lands stolen from Shoshone, Navajo, Apache, the Mexica, and other Indian Tribes with broken treaties. I’ve cited the examples of Jewish colonists in the former Spanish colony of Florida that were protected by SCOTUS in the Percheman case, while the Native-born Indain Tribal Confederations that predated the founding of the USA, were refused representation, statehood, and deported under the Indian Removal Act. They were even recognized as “The Five Civilized Tribes”, but our Courts, the President, and Congress simply refused to enforce the Constitution and Treaties. They claimed the Indians fought to the death to defend lands stolen by White settlers and that meant they could never be assimilated. We have never stopped blaming our victims. The Ameican National Samoans who still don’t qualify for Birthright Citizenship, no matter where they are born, will no doubt celebrate their “Passover” again when SCOTUS decides Trump’s Birthright EO case. The smart money says they will remain disenfranchised. Why should Israel treat Palestinians any differently, imitation is the sincerest form of flattery.
    Only the Israeli government is incentivized to continue this war. None of its objectives have been met. Its position is considerably weaker than it was before the war. Its response to the ceasefire of massacring scores of Lebanese civilians and its ongoing genocide in Gaza are only driving it deeper into global isolation.
    French general Michel Yakovleff recently cited a principle he said he learned at the U.S. Army War College: “You don’t reinforce failure. You move on. You find something else.”
    How many times has Israel invaded Lebanon and blitzed Gaza? Has Israel removed the “security” threats therein or reinforced them?
    Long past due for patriotic Americans to take back their country. No individual with Israel ties, or Israeli citizenship or Israeli lobby donor money should be permitted to participate in foreign policy decision-making. There is a clear conflict of interest, at minimum, and sedition at worst. This would apply to any other individual with ties to other countries. How can it be tolerated to have a member of Congress wearing an IDF uniform while on the job at the same time tens of thousands of wholly innocent Palestinian and Lebanese children are being slaughtered by IDF ghouls?
    Thank you Tareq. Your article made me think of the many drivers for emigration. I lived in Spain for a while to learn the language before returning to do postgraduate work in the UK. I often wonder what life might have been like had I stayed in a country I am still really fond of. My cousin Sue and her husband moved to New Zealand when he was offered a senior university post in Wellington and are now happily retired there. I went to school with the sons and daughters of Polish and Czech soldiers who stayed in London rather than return to their homelands under Soviet repression. I have a friend who fled Syria (being quite a well-known dissident). He has returned since the fall of the Assads, but has roots now in England with his English wife and binational daughters. My parents and half their siblings left Ireland to escape poverty and joined that riotous diaspora of which I am an honorary member.
    But we all have one thing in common: a place to return to, should we wish or should it somehow become necessary. And that is what the Palestinians in their diaspora are denied by their oppressors.
    I never made the argument that it wasn’t. To the contrary. My argument was that the existence of war crimes does not negate, in principle, the right to armed resistance.
    The above discloses a major misconception. The requirement of jus in bello does not apply to all instances of resistance. The white racist states attempt to apply the requirement to Palestinians because Palestinians are non-Europeans or non-whites. The requirement of jus in bello was not applied to white European resistance groups in the aftermath of WW2.
    PS. If all else fails, swing for the fences. Mr. Sarsour’s legal team should argue that Trump’s election violated the 14th Amendment procedural election requirements to remove his disability to hold office again, without the required 2/3rds vote from Congress. The House voted to impeach him for incitement to insurrection, but Senate Majority Leader McConnell didn’t hold the required vote, saying the legal system would deal with Trump, who was no longer in office. After Trump demanded the Constitution be terminated, the House once again referred charges of insurrection to the DOJ. The 14th amendment is a constitutional textual assignment of responsibility to the legislature — a political question per Baker v. Carr, 369 U.S. 186 (1962) that amends any conflicting election law. Like the age requirement, to hold office or vote, it had immediate and independent legal consequences that do not require impeachment or conviction in a criminal court, before they took effect, They also do not require a pardon or clemency to remove the disability to hold office again, if 2/3rds of the Congress votes to remove the disability.
    Trump himself publicly violated his Oath by demanding the Constitution be terminated so he could be awarded the Presidency and replace the sitting President on the basis of his own personal fiat. He’s no more the lawful President at the moment than Alina Habba, Lindsey Halligan, Philip Lamparello, Jordan Fox, or Ari Fontecchio were legally confirmed and appointed. If their unlawful tenure could lead to the dismissal of thousands of criminal cases handled during their time, the same thing can surely be said in a lawsuit against Donald Trump. The smart money says Trump Always Chickens Out”. My guess is he’d drop these charges in the interest of justice, to avoid things blowing up in his face. YMMV, but Mr. Sarsour would have nothing to lose.
    Re: But that’s a whole lot mock indignation above in the absence of a denial.
    No, that’s righteous indignation. there is a legal difference. President-elect Donald Trump was sentenced in New York, months after a jury found him guilty of 34 felony counts of falsifying business records. FYI, both Trump and son Eric actually did plead the 5th Amendment during depositions conducted under oath for the trial Court. They chose to remain silent hundreds of times.
    Mr. Sarsour has been charged with a violation of US law, but has no need to deny anything, His pre-trial discovery of any exculpatory evidence that Trump claims are not subject to the Presidential Records Act could drag on for years. Rubio is the NARA Custodian and is named as a co-conspirator in another Federal Circuit which has filed a permanent injunction. After that happens, arguments on the grounds of any motions to dismiss need to be heard, and any interlocutory appeals after that happens. When all those preliminaries are finished, the Sixth Amendment guarantee that a criminal defendant has the right to face their accusers in person, in Court , and cross-examine them still must to be fulfilled. Until that happens, hold your horses and don’t get your cart ahead of them.
    Apparent guilt isn’t a thing. The burden of proof lies with the prosecution, and every defendant, like Sarsour, has the right to remain silent.
    Federal Courts have published findings of fact that rule the Trump administration conducted a criminal conspiracy to target Palestinians, extort private universities to fire them from teaching positions, expel students and kidnap them. They claim they are enemy aliens, suspend habeas corpus, falsely imprison them, illegally deport them across state an international borders, deny them food and medical care, and many persons have died in ICE custody. Rather than deny any of that has happened – Trump said Yamamoto and the seven co-conspirators hanged by the IMT for the Far East committed the same war crime of perfidy and has asked SCOTUS to grant him an exception. US DOJ or a Court unwillingness or inability to investigate, prosecute, or punish those crimes committed against Palestinian nationals automatically triggers ICC jurisdiction.
    Trump is prohibited from arresting, suspending habeas, kidnapping, imprisoning, deporting, or murdering any alien under color of law. 18 U.S.C. § 242 makes it a federal crime for anyone —including the President, police, corrections officers, military, and judges—to willfully deprive individuals of rights protected by the U.S. Constitution, federal laws, or federal treaties. The maximum penalty is death. SCOTUS ruled President Bush had unconstitutionally violated the 4th Geneva Convention Common Article I and Hague regulations when he issued the Executive Order for Gitmo. Likewise the President and Members of Congress are prohibited by 18 U.S.C. § 227 from wrongfully influencing or extorting a private entity’s employment decisions with the intent to benefit a partisan Zionist political party, lobby, or person. That includes private universities (see Colombia, Harvard, etc.). Violators are barred from holding future office, get fined, and/or up to 15 years in prison. The 14th Amendment does not allow states to make additions to the qualifications for the Office of the President, but it doesn’t allow SCOTUS or Jack Smith jurisdiction to decide political questions & allow a President who has broken an oath, to requalify to run as a candidate and hold office again. Trump cannot hold office, until a 2/3rds vote of Congress has removed his disability. Former President Trump demanded the Constitution be terminated in a failed coup;.
    Israel has been involved in about 20 wars or major military operations since the founding of the state**, but I’m sure that this is the last one! Israel’s enemies will be vanquished once and for all! Israel is smiting the Amalekites and by golly, this time they’re going to stay smitten!
    The author of this essay was the former U.S. ambassador to Morocco:
    There is no military solution in Lebanon, only a diplomatic oneIsrael’s military campaign in southern Lebanon threatens to revitalize Hezbollah’s reason for being….The war unfolding in Lebanon is moving in a dangerous direction. What began as an increased campaign by Israel in the past month to degrade immediate threats by Hezbollah has rapidly evolved into humanitarian collapse, regional escalation, and ultimately the strengthening of the very actor it seeks to weaken. This trajectory is unsustainable and counterproductive….More troubling still, the war is reshaping the political landscape inside Lebanon in ways that could benefit Hezbollah. As strikes hit civilian areas and infrastructure, affected Shia communities, many of whom do not support Hezbollah, are hardening in their views against Israel. This growing resentment and deepening grievances risk revitalizing the “resistance” narrative that Hezbollah exploits to legitimize its actions as deterrents against Israeli occupation and aggression. In other words, the longer this continues, the stronger Hezbollah becomes….If Israel seriously desires peaceful relations with Lebanon, the priority must now be to move from open-ended military escalation toward a defined political pathway that can translate into a sustainable outcome, beginning with the recognition that, absent a military solution, the only remaining path is the one to peaceful relations.
    This is not difficult to comprehend. Please forward this and publish it: Judge Young in the Federal Court in Boston found that the Trump Admistration Cabinet Secretaries were part of a blatant criminal conspiracy to arrest and imprison or deport Palestinians. The details of the US government criminal conspiracy were published decades ago with a signed confession . See: The declassified US State Department Document 804, Foreign Relations of the United States, 1947, The Near East and Africa, Volume V, 501 BB Palestine/9–2247
    Titled The Director of the Office of Near Eastern and African Affairs (Henderson) to the Secretary of State, Top Secret [Washington,] September 22, 1947.
    That State Department FRUS memo written by the Truman State Department Chief of the Middle East and North Africa section admitted that if the USA supported the creation of a racist theocratic Jewish state in Israel it would make the problem permanent and require the US government to discriminate against our own citizens and persons who are not Jewish, both there and here at home in the USA, in ways our government had always refused to do in the past. It noted that would result in violation of the terms of the US Constitution and the UN Charter. A footnote said that the President had approved the UNSCOP plan anyway, so the State Department would implement those illegal orders. The immigration statue Secretary Rubio is employing today was adopted immediately after the Truman administration adopted the UNSCOP plan and both Israel and Jordan were finally given dejure recognition on the same day in 1950.
    The State Department Memo explained the policy would permanently undermine and harm US relations with the people’s of the Arab states and require the USA to supply material support, which has included enormous amounts of military assistance, to subsidize the Jewish state. It stated the UNSCOP Plan would never permit the creation of a viable Arab state, because too much of the majority population’s shared revenue generating ports, agricultural, and water resources had been allocated to the Jewish state.
    President Roosevelt had been advised that the Zionist leadership planed to acquire minority rule of Palestine and the East Bank of Transjordan by armed force and deport the Arab population to Iraq. That violated of the rights of the majority and the Atlantic Charter in 1943. In 1944 President Roosevelt publicly endorsed the plan and promised to implement it.
    The recent discovery of the ancient Canaanite-Persian admixture of Levantine populations, including Judeans, Samaritans, and Galileans, having descendants in those regions today is interesting. But there are other discoveries that you might find of interest too. A 2017 study “Ancient Egyptian mummy genomes suggest an increase of Sub-Saharan African ancestry in post-Roman periods | Nature Communications” show the Hyksos Pharoahs were Canaanites too. DNA samples from 100 mummies taken from Middle Egypt spanning around 1,300 years of ancient Egyptian history from the New Kingdom to the Roman Period showed the Levantine Canaanite admixture. The modern Egyptians have an increase in Sub-Saharan genes that occurred after the Roman era.
    In the first millennium BCE Egypt endured foreign domination leading to growing numbers of foreigners living within its borders possibly contributing genetically to the local population. Our data seem to indicate close admixture and affinity at a much earlier date, which is unsurprising given the long and complex connections between Egypt and the Middle East. These connections date back to Prehistory and occurred at a variety of scales, including overland and maritime commerce, diplomacy, immigration, invasion and deportation54. Especially from the second millennium BCE onwards, there were intense, historically- and archaeologically documented contacts, including the large-scale immigration of Canaanite populations, known as the Hyksos, into Lower Egypt, whose origins lie in the Middle Bronze Age Levant.
    Also it was recently discovered that African populations where Neanderthals had migrated away sooner have merely lost more of their Neanderthal DNA through natural selection, than European and Asian populations where Neanderthals remained until more recently. New study identifies Neanderthal ancestry in African populations and describes its origin- Princeton and Africans, too, carry Neanderthal genetic legacy – Harvard
    The problem with your arguments are that armed resistance is still governed by the laws of war and humanitarian law that prohibit reprisals and targeting civilians, no matter how dislikable they may be.
    Hamas has civilians who support the party politically and municipal law enforcement officers. They cannot be subjected to reprisals, collective punishments, and are only responsible for actual crimes if they have committed them personally. Most are not guilty of anything. OTOH, the Politcal and Military organs of Hamas are part of a government coalition that is a state party to many conventions that assign responsibility for crimes, reparations, victim compensation, and guilt to State government officials.
    Hamas has demanded ICC investigations in their Al Aqsa Flood Manifesto. Many people, myself included, have reported obvious mass murder of unarmed civilians, and kidnapping of civilians that were investigated, and resulted in charges against Hamas coalition officials of extermination, murder, rape and other acts of sexual violence, torture, and other Inhumane Acts. Note: Incidents of rape and other sexual violence occurred and those individuals responsible should be brought to justice, even if there were no orders given to employ rape as a weapon of war.
    Jared Kushner lied on his background check application for a White House Security Clearance three times. He never passed, the President just gave it to him anyway. Trump, Kushner, and Witkoff commited the war crime of perfidy during peace negotiations by bombing Gaza, Qatar, and Iran, then tried to explain that the Japanese had done the same thing at Pearl Harbor. But the perpetrators in that case were hanged by the Tokyo Tribunal. We’re still waiting to see what happens in our cases…..
    I kept reading and reading and wondering why a conviction in a kangaroo Israeli Military Court is worth mentioning by the US Secretary of State? The ICJ findings in 2024 said Israel’s, long-term application of military law and prison detention systems, are patently illegal and must end.
    99 percent of persons arrested are convicted on evidence the IDF won’t reveal to the defendant or defense counsel. Many confessions are written in Hebrew that Palestinians sign, but can’t read. Those are obtained by toture and threats that a demand for trial will only result indefinite detention without trial or in conviction for a much longer prison sentence. Those are only the findings in our own US State Department human rights reports. The ICRC, B’tselem, Amnesty International, and UNHRC add reports on incidents of rape and murder.
    Re: There is no evidence whatsoever of major migration of Judeans to Egypt and to N. Africa.
    Re: It is telling that Phoenician settlers in N. Africa used Latin to deal with the government, Greek for trade, and Phoenician/Punic/Canaanite among themselves while Alexandrian Jews used only Latin and Greek.
    You are correct that culture, language, and religion are not genetic. So they can be assimilated without any inherited DNA. But that is not the case with Ashkenazi colonizers and the Palestinians who share some recent ancestors. The Phoenicians in Carthage who spoke Canaanite languages were not from the Levant. The Arab culture and language of populations in North Africa today are not inherited from Arabians. See: Ancient DNA Reveals Phoenicians’ Surprising Ancestry: Phoenician civilization spread its culture and alphabet across the Mediterranean but not, evidently, its DNA — Scientific American
    But we have written accounts, ancient DNA tests and pottery from Egypt to Ugarit of Greek Minoan or Mycenaean migrants, Pharoahs mercenaries, and the Philistines who intermarried with Cannanites and left Greek pottery from Egypt, Ugarit, Gaza and Megiddo. Josephus died around 100 CE and millions of Judeans and Samaritans participated in Kittos Revolt in North Africa: Cyprus, Libya, Egypt, and Mesopotamia a decade later.
    The accounts of Genesis, Judges, Jeremiah, and Josephus have written about them being an admixture of migrants from Israel and Judea, Persian mercenaries, and Greek auxiliaries. Judah himself married a Canaanite woman, Bath-shua. They had a son, Shelah, who lived and had Judean children who were presumably Canaanite-Persian-Greek admixture. I have no idea what language or culture they had. There was no ancient Hebrew language or Torah in that era, but Issac and Jacob’s wives from Padam-Aram had pagan household idols.
    Modern historians and archeologists, like Gad Barnea and Jonatan Adler, have recorded discoveries of Samaritan and Judean mercenaries who built temples in Egypt during the Achaemenid era where Yahweh was worshipped on the same altars with other Gods and the priestly offices included women. See this video, “Yonatan Adler Egyptian archeological discoveries Achaemenid era” From 35:38 Elephantine.
    Re: Hostage has posted plenty of ridiculous and inane comments, but this one takes the gold medal.
    It was my sarcastic response to a “Biblical Archeological Society”, that keeps soldiering on, long after Israeli scholars and scientists have discovered the Jews were never who they claimed to be in the Bible.
    But let’s play “Where’s Waldo” with Rashi. No surviving manuscripts or fragments of Rashi’s actual commentaries exist. Redacted versions of “Rashi’s” commentaries date back to the late 12th or early 13th century, approximately 100 to 130 years after his death. His commentaries never say he communicated with God personally about utterly destroying the Seven Nations. His family line may have ended, since he died before the Ashkenazi bottleneck in 1400 CE. He supposedly had three daughters—Rachel, Miriam, and Hannah—who married scholars. Their descendants (the Tosafists) became progenitors of numerous prominent European rabbinic families.
    Many Ashkenazi families maintain a tradition of descent from Rashi. Genealogical projects like Neil Rosenstein’s The Unbroken Chain have documented thousands of families tracing back to him, particularly through the Treves and Kats dynasties. Famous figures like Rabbi Shlomo Luria (Maharshal), claim to be descendants. That vast network of identified descendants – all Ashkenazi Jews- are roughly 30th cousins or closer. Many were particpants in the Cell study which confirmed they are Canaanites. In the 1600s urban renewal caused Rashi’s remains to become lost. So for now, we just have to take their word that its all true.
    So where is Rashi? We know he didn’t say he spoke to God in person about utterly destroying the Seven Nations. We don’t really know which parts of his commentaries he actually produced; if he has any living survivors today, or where his remains can be found. But every Ashkenazi Jew may be his descendants, 30th cousins or closer; and definitely Canaanites.
    Let’s look at how this is being reported by the New York Times:
    Arrest of Wisconsin Mosque Leader Was Tied to Trump Antisemitism Campaign – The New York Times
    “A government document obtained by The New York Times says Mr. Sarsour first submitted an application for an immigrant visa in 1992 at the American consulate in Jerusalem but was initially denied the ability to enter the United States based on his criminal convictions in Israel. He was admitted into the United States through Chicago a year later, as a conditional resident, and he obtained a green card in 1998, according to the document.”
    The story that he lied on his green card application ( which the U.S. government has not yet provided any evidence of ) seems a bit simplistic. But the larger issue this article raises is the issue that the U.S. government is going after people who are critical of Israel, as well as the ridiculous claim that Sarsour is a threat to U.S. foreign policy!
    “But Mr. Sarsour’s lawyer, Munjed Ahmad, said that his deportation paperwork said only that he was a threat to U.S. foreign policy.”
    Can you address these larger issues or is that off topic?
    Re: More Anti-Jewish propaganda from Hostage.
    I was quoting a Jewish prophet who claimed God brought Jews out of Egypt without any sacrifices. You admit the story is a myth, but millions of Jews are still killing a lamb, chicken, or other animal and roasting it with meat on the bones, and not eating just to commemorate a mythical Passover Sacrifice that Jeremiah said never happened. That actually is an example of ritual sacrice.
    Shank bone (zeroa): This is a roasted bone with some meat on it. Although zeroa is often described as the shank bone of a lamb, other bones work too – such as a roasted chicken wing, chicken leg or part of the neck. The emphasis is less on the exact body part and more on the commemoration of the Paschal sacrifice, which was the most important part of celebrating Passover in the time of the Temple.
    The zeroa is also seen as an allusion to the “outstretched arm” (zeroa netuyah) with which the Bible says God took the Jews out of Egypt. Unlike most of the symbols of seder night, this one is for looking at, not eating.
    Re: Every Jew who isn’t ignorant is aware of the concept of the Chosen People.
    Every Jew who is as smart as Spinoza knows that God never did any such choosing. If you still pretend that myth needs to be commemorated in a country you’ve stolen and pillaged from others, you’re just egotistical, ignorant savages.
    Re: To your dismay, the Jews are still around, the Canaanites are not.
    Just to clarify, modern day Jews are descended from the Canaanites and the Neaderthals, and inherit most or their DNA from them and the Persians. So they haven’t gone anywhere. We have met the enemy and they are us. God didn’t utterly destroy them or delivery you or me from slavery in Egypt.
    Yes, Israel’s actions are genocidal. Hamas’s action on Oct 7 was an obvious and massive war crime. In both cases someone could point to legitimate military targets being destroyed as well, but they provide no excuse for the mass slaughter that Hamas conducted or the genocidal acts of Israel. The Germans destroyed a lot of legitimate military targets in WW2. They also did other things. The other things they did are morally far more important than the fact that they also hit legitimate military targets.
    ” At this point I don’t understand why”.
    Even Biblical Archeology Review admits that Rashi was a Canaanite fiction writer
    The referenced article The Genomic History of the Bronze Age Southern Levant is at the very least methodologically and mathematically questionable (73 individuals from five archaeological sites over ~1500 years, seriously?).
    The authors of the article are textual nitwits. The creation of a Biblical text takes place at earliest in the late Achaemenid Period (4th century BCE). A Biblical text tells us practically nothing about earlier periods. In other words, there is no such thing as secular Biblical history to which a genetic anthropologist can refer critically and scientifically. The authors of the The Genomic History of the Bronze Age Southern Levant are self-evidently incompetent.
    The paper Genome-wide data from medieval German Jews show that the Ashkenazi founder event pre-dated the 14th century is much sounder methodologically and mathematically. This article exemplifies good genetic anthropology.
    The findings of non-propagandist genetic anthropology, textual analysis, paleography, epigraphy, archaeology, numismatics, etc. all tell us that RASHI was almost certainly almost completely of mixed South European (Magna Graecian Jewish non-Judean), Jewish Western European non-Judean convert, and Mesopotamian Jewish non-Judean origin.
    The pre-modern and modern Rabbinic Jewish Diaspora had practically no ancestors among Greco-Roman Judeans, who never left Palestine and who are ancestors of us Palestinians.
    The President and Neo-coons have no war powers. The US Constitution only delegates limited powers of Commander-In-Chief to the President, “when called into the actual Service of the United States.” Children used to be taught in social studies that the Congress has the sole Article I power to Declare War and to punish piracies, felonies on the high seas, and violations of the law of Nations. Congress also holds sole Article I power to organize, arm, discipline, and govern the militia (National Guard) when employed in federal service.
    The Constitution demands that the President “shall take Care that the Laws be faithfully executed, and shall Commission all the Officers of the United States. In Little v Barreme the Supreme Court held that the President of the United States does not have “inherent powers” that permit him to alter or amend a law limiting the scope of military actions approved by the U.S. Congress. Military personnel who obey unlawful orders issued by the President do so at their own legal peril. In United States v. Mitchell v. Harmony the Supreme Court declared: “It can never be maintained that a military officer can justify himself for doing an unlawful act by producing the order of his superior.”
    In Chisholm v. Georgia, Chief Justice John Jay asserted that the U.S. Constitution was ordained by “the people” rather than sovereign states, rejecting Georgia’s claim of sovereign immunity, requiring their ratification of the 11th Amendment. That was confirmed in Perry v. United States, 294 U.S. 330 which held the sovereignty of the United States resides in the people, and Congress cannot invoke the sovereignty of the people to override the declared in the Constitution, and ratified by their elected representatives in the State legislatures. It was also repeated again in Reid v. Covert. Neither the President or the Congress has the power to enforce a treaty or a statute that contradicts the terms or prohibitions of the Constitution. They must use one of the approved methods in Article V to Amend the Constitution to obtain ratification of power delegated from the people and their elected representatives.
    Marbury v. Madison and Baker v. Carr established that the Courts have no jurisdiction to exercise over matters when the Constitution makes a textually demonstrable constitutional commitment of the issue to either the Congress or President.
    Re: October 7 was a mass atrocity— if they had focused on IDF targets with some civilian deaths as collateral damage that would be legitimate ( I think) under the laws of war, but they didn’t. They also intentionally kidnapped civilians— if they had only sought to capture IDF soldiers that would be legit. The whole operation as carried out was chiefly a war crime.
    Please research why WW2 resistance groups in Alsace and in Eastern Europe were not charged with crimes for atrocities against protected noncombatants even though the action of WW2 resistance groups was often far more atrocious than any actions of Hamas.
    The non-prosecution of white European anti-Nazi resistance groups was grounded in far more than prosecutorial discretion.
    The white racist media don’t analyze this legal anomaly because the resistance to the Nazi occupation consisted of white Europeans while the resistance to white Zionist colonial settler invaders consists of non-Europeans and non-whites.
    The racism of the application of international law to Palestine stinks more than the racism of the Dred Scott decision does in US law.
    Re: Most of the Judeans had simply chosen to migrate to Egypt and North Africa in any event. Josephus records that Alexander and the Ptolemies colonized Egypt with Samaritans and Judeans.
    There is no evidence whatsoever of major migration of Judeans to Egypt and to N. Africa. Alexandria was founded in 331 BCE. Josephus wrote at the end of the 1st century CE. He was making a guess about the origin of the Egyptian Jewish community. While there were a few Samaritan scholars in Alexandria, there were not many Samarians/Samaritans in Egypt. If there were, we would have found a significant use of the Paleo-Hebrew script in Egypt.
    To facilitate Hellenistic rule in Ptolemaic Empire, which included Palestine, the Ptolemies created Hellenistic versions of Egyptian and Palestinian religion like the Hellenistic Cult of Isis, the Hellenistic Cult of Serapis, and Pentateuchal Judaism, which is purely a Hellenistic creation. In Alexandria, the adherents of these religions were almost entirely of Greek ancestry and neither Egyptian nor Judean (or Samarian).
    It is telling that Phoenician settlers in N. Africa used Latin to deal with the government, Greek for trade, and Phoenician/Punic/Canaanite among themselves while Alexandrian Jews used only Latin and Greek.
    In other words, Alexandrian Jews (and Hellenistic Jews in general) probably had almost no Judean (and no Samarian) ancestry whatsoever.
Persistently pointing at other countries possibly developing nuclear weapons while Israel wags their nuclear weapons in the shadow. Arrogance, defiance and so dangerous. Israel is the danger.
    You missed in your piece that President John F Kennedy challenged Ben Gurion etc about their nuclear weapons. Demanded they open up to international inspections. Last President to do so.
    Numerous nations have complained at the UN about Israel’s nuclear program being a threat to peace in the middle east.
    Some of us have been hammering U.S. main stream media outlets to cover these facts.
    “Shall” in a legal instrument creates a mandatory legal obligation or duty. Bear in mind that Prof. James Crawford represented Palestine in the 2004 Wall case and also authored “The Creation of States in International Law”. He explained that Israel and Transjordan were not created in accordance with the terms of the UN Plan for Partition and Economic Union of Palestine.
    But neither Transjordan nor Israel could become members of the UN, until after the British Mandate or the UN Trusteeship Truman proposed had been terminated. Unlike the “recommendations” made in UN General Assembly resolution 181(II), the clauses regarding the termination of the Mandate, and the Declaration acknowledging the Minority Protection Plan were separate mandatory legal obligations:
    Part I. – Future Constitution and Government of Palestine
    A. TERMINATION OF MANDATE, PARTITION AND INDEPENDENCE
    The Mandate for Palestine shall terminate as soon as possible but in any case not later than 1 August 1948.
    B. STEPS PREPARATORY TO INDEPENDENCE
    The Constitutions of the States shall embody Chapters 1 and 2 of the Declaration provided for in section C below and include, inter alia, provisions for: …
    C. DECLARATION
    A declaration shall be made to the United Nations by the Provisional Government of each proposed State before independence. It shall contain, inter alia, the following clauses:
    General Provision
    The stipulations contained in the Declaration are recognized as fundamental laws of the State and no law, regulation or official action shall conflict or interfere with these stipulations, nor shall any law, regulation or official action prevail over them. et. seq.
    Chapter 4: Miscellaneous Provisions
    The provisions of chapters 1 and 2 of the declaration shall be under the guarantee of the United Nations, and no modifications shall be made in them without the assent of the General Assembly of the United Nations. Any Member of the United Nations shall have the right to bring to the attention of the General Assembly any infraction or danger of infraction of any of these stipulations, and the General Assembly may thereupon make such recommendations as it may deem proper in the circumstances.
    Any dispute relating to the application or interpretation of this declaration shall be referred, at the request of either party, to the International Court of Justice, unless the parties agree to another mode of settlement.
    Bcg, I’ll start with your second question , regarding the Canaanites. It so happens that the moral issue here was even raised by Rashi in his commentary on the very first verse in the Bible (“In the Beginning…), Genesis 1:1.
    In the beginning.  Said Rabbi Isaac: It was not necessary to begin the Torah except from “This month is to you,” (Exod. 12:2) which is the first commandment that the Israelites were commanded, Now for what reason did He commence with “In the beginning?” Because of [the verse] “The strength of His works He related to His people, to give them the inheritance of the nations” (Ps. 111:6). For if the nations of the world should say to Israel, “You are robbers, for you conquered by force the lands of the seven nations [of Canaan],” they will reply, “The entire earth belongs to the Holy One, blessed be He; He created it and gave it to whomever He deemed proper When He wished, He gave it to them, and when He wished, He took it away from them and gave it to us.
    In any case, such ethnic cleansing probably never took place in reality.
    As to the killing the firstborn of Egypt, yes, it’s deeply troubling according to our human morality and sensibilities and not a problem that I would presume to solve. It’s presented as God’s judgement , executed by God (not by the Israelites) .
