A delegation of Palestinian activists and movement leaders visited the north of Ireland to ground ourselves in its history of anti-imperialism. Derry was more than a city for us—it mirrored our shared history of colonial oppression and resistance.

As American Christians who enable Israel’s actions through our government’s support, we are not separate from what is unfolding in Palestine. We must accept our part in it, bear witness, and stand in support of the besieged Palestinian people.

I have never waited for proof of life before. But now I wake every morning waiting to find out if your mother in Gaza has survived the night. She is hiding from bombs made here and funded by my government. My care for you has become a political act.

Palestinians cannot rely on the international community, we need civil society to act. The way forward for our struggle is resistance on the ground supported by international solidarity through Boycott, Divestment, and Sanctions.
