The petition was filed to protect two schools and 32 other structures, including a health clinic, from demolition in the heart of Masafer Yatta.
Israeli forces raided the offices of seven Palestinian civil society organizations, confiscated their equipment and materials, and shuttered their offices, claiming they were “unlawful”. The raids are the latest escalation since Israel arbitrarily designated six of the organizations as “terror groups” last year. Defense for Children International – Palestine director Khaled Quzmar tells Mondoweiss the message is clear: “We are under imminent risk now.”
Israel has admitted to conducting the airstrike that killed five Palestinian children in Gaza after initially blaming their deaths on a Palestinian Islamic Jihad rocket. The strike targeted the al-Faluja cemetery in the town of Jabalia in the northern Gaza Strip, and struck five children, four of whom were from the same family, while they were visiting the grave of their grandfather. The youngest victim of the strike was just three-years-old.

According to Defense for Children International – Palestine, an Israeli sniper deployed on top of a residential building in the refugee camp shot Dirar al-Kafrayni in the back from a distance of approximately 295 feet. He’s the 18th Palestinian child to be killed since the start of 2022.

On Saturday, in the occupied West Bank, Amjad Abu Alia was killed by Israeli fire during a demonstration in his town of al-Mughayyir, north of Ramallah. Eyewitnesses claim that Abu Alia was shot by fire that came from the direction of Israeli settlers, who were documented shooting and throwing rocks at Palestinians in the area.
The new settlements would effectively cut East Jerusalem off from the southern West Bank. “Politically, this is a strategic plan that will strike a blow at the possibility of a Palestinian urban continuum in East Jerusalem,” settlement watchdog Peace Now said in a report.
Two men belonging to the Al-Quds Brigades were killed. They were identified as Muhammad Azizi, 25, and Abdul Rahman Sobh, 28. The Palestinian Ministry of health said that Azizi was shot in the chest, and Sobh was shot in the head.
