has happily now hit the pages of Ma’ariv, shaming Leviev in Israel. He has issued the following defense:
Having fled the yoke of communism as a teenager living in Uzbekistan, Lev Leviev knows oppression firsthand and has used his self-made success to alleviate suffering around the world.
OK, but Leviev now subjects the Palestinians of the West Bank to the yoke of Zionism, by funding settlements. And Susan Sarandon blithely shops at his Madison boite. When oh when will the American press take on the settlements, which have disgraced America’s image around the world, in anything like the way the Israeli press does?

During the winter of 2002 I spent 3 months in Cairns AU, a small city on the balmy shores of the Coral Sea. One day as I was waiting my turn in a 3 chair barber shop, I could not help but overhear an arguement between a middle age Aussie who was getting a haircut, and a younger man,darker skin and a middle east accent, who was cutting a client's hair in the ajoining chair. The arguement was about the settlements, and as it heated up, the middle age Aussie taunted," we will continue to build the settlements and there is nothing you can do to stop us as we control the US government! I am a Canadian, so I have no axe to grind, but I was shocked and disgusted by the remark, and I told him so. How would a pro-Zionist American react to this foreigner saying that "We" control the US government? I guess that's what Phil was talking about. You can't serve two masters!
