‘Best Western’ Hotel in Martinsville, IN, Leaves Empty Refrigerators On in Rooms

Things aren’t going to change re the energy/environment till people stop leaving their SUVs going in mall lots, get rid of the SUVs, and turn off pig electric devices they’re not using anyway. I happen to be in Indiana today, but it’s no different in NY.

    Energy is the nut.

ANY hope of political independance from the middle east messes, require extreme efforts at individual and social conservation of energy.

Relative to opposition to "fiat-currency", the only just non-fiat currency would be measured in calories.

There is some annual free solar income, most shared in the atmosphere, some private in landed, but most is residual of prior free solar income (all fossil fuels, bio-fuels).

The only way to "print money" is nuclear, which is more dangerous than anything the fed effects.

Dear Mr. Weiss: I just want to say "many thanks" for your fair-minded treatment of my good friend John Mearsheimer's work on the Israel lobby. As a committed, practicing Catholic I have always felt anti-semitism to be deeply abhorrent; it was for that reason in 1983-1986 I worked part-time as an undercover investigator for the ADL. (Had some interesting experiences: At one meeting of particularly vicious anti-semites I suddenly realized I was sitting right between Willis Carto of Liberty Lobby and William Pierce of the National Alliance; I said to myself: If my cover is blown, I am not getting out of this room alive!! Fortunatedly, St. Michael protected me!!) Knowing true, vicious anti-semites as well as I do, I am quite confident that John Mearsheimer is not an anti-semite, and I am equally confident that he did not write his book with the intention of harming either Israel or the Jewish people. I do not know Dr. Walt, but knowing John as well as I do I cannot believe that he would collaborate with an anti-semite. Their book is open to scholarly criticism, but charges of anti-semitism about these two scholars are most unfair. Keep well. Sincerely and Respectfully, Ernest Evans

Are you saying that gold, the king of commodity currencies, is unjust?

In principle, calories could serve as currency. However, if energy became scarce, a savage deflation would ensue as the money supply shrank. Caloric currency would enable slavery: the poor would spend all day huffing on exercycles, generating calories to spend on food, in a hopeless and endless cycle of futility.

I'm on record as having proposed an opium-based currency. It's dense, high-valued, enduring, easily subdividable. And if there's nothing to spend it on, you can smoke it. See you in Xanadu …

    YES. Loudly.

  5. Charles Keating says:

Yes, let's anchor our ship of state to fiat currency; we know who has dibs on the deck chairs.
