Pinch-Hitting for Samantha Power, Playing Left Field– George Clooney

The Mail says that George Clooney is advising Barack Obama on body language and speechmaking and sharing his strong views of the Middle East, which are "pro-Palestinian." Inshallah.

  1. charles Keating says:

It's not hard to see why he is pro-Palestinian. Except his view will never get on HBO's Curb Your Enthsiasm–duh, I wonder why not?

  2. the Sword of Gideon says:

Have to make this much more public. Knowing that Clooney is a trusted foreign policy adviser in the Obama inner circle is a sure vote getter for McCAin

  3. the Sword of Gideon says:

It also figures that Phil uses inshallah instead of Baruch Hashem. Yet another example of my point. What exactly makes this guy Jewish.

  4. MM says:

Clooney bought the rights to the excellent documentary 2005 Our Brand Is Crisis and if my quick google can be believed, is/will be remaking it as a "dark comedy".

Maybe George can see if there's not a little bit of Goni Go-Go Sanchez de Lozada in Barack Obama.

Both had fathers who had moved to the U.S. Both ended up studying at elite American universities. Both became state senators, and then presidents. Both embraced the crises they faced with heroic simplicity, and both had no idea neoliberalism was the cause.

If Barack's first term doesn't work out so well, who knows, maybe he can gain a few pounds, work with Antonio Banderas on his hispanic accent, and play Goni for George.

  5. No To Phil says:

Phil is showing signs of complete confusion.

With friends like Clooney, who needs an enemy.

Obama may win, but he will be a hostage and not a president, and another Democratic failure, like Pelosi and Reed who gave a bad name to Democrats.

Obama will be another resident of the White House, while the real president is the clique that set up this puppet.

Axelrod, hedge funds, and probably foreign sponsors.

  6. Curtis says:

It seems odd that the endorsement of a candidate by a big casino owner, like Sheldon Adelson, is considered more respectable than that of an actor like George Clooney.

  7. George Clooney is pro-Palestinian? O swoon.

  8. Glenn Condell says:

    'George Clooney is pro-Palestinian?'

Lucky for him he's already a star. For the Palestinians too.

  9. sword of gideon says:

It seems odd that an endorsement by Hamas, or Louis Farrakhan, is more respectable than a casino owner.

  10. contrarian says:

Sword: It seems odd that an endorsement by Hamas, or Louis Farrakhan, is more respectable than a casino owner.

    Clooney = Hamas? Yawn.

  11. sword of gideon says:

    No, Hamas is Hamas.

  12. charles Keating says:

SOG, in your humble opinion, what exactly makes you Jewish? Please tell us. And, if you will, tell us precisely if Phil is Jewish, or not–again, in your humble opinion. You may want to consult Witty first because he is aware of the debate among Jews as to who and who is not Jewish.

  13. It also figures that Phil uses inshallah instead of Baruch Hashem.

In sha'a-llah translates into Hebrew as im yirtze hashem.

Al-hamdu li-llah and barukh hashem are more or less idiomatic equivalents.

  14. BTW, I should add that neither in sha`a-llah nor al-hamdu li-llah is specifically Muslim, and the phrases are found in the speech of Christian and Jewish Arabs.
