Adalah Fundraiser/Concert Set for Dec. 2 in NY Church

Yesterday demonstrated the political limitation of Jewish communal organizations for me. At some point you are doing a potato sack race–or whatever you call that race where your leg is tied to someone else– with a neocon. That's how it works, when you're in the Jewish communal family. You're stuck with neocons. The Jewish left is trying to extricate itself, and god bless them, but it's a few years too late, Iraq is in ruins. And the real answer is going to be Working With Palestinians and Arabs for Peace. That's the answer. Reaching out in the age of Obama. We need to make cross-identity alliances, or we're all lost. Segue to: Adalah-NY, a coalition of Jews, Arabs, and Christians who are engaged on justice questions in Israel and Palestine, is having its annual fundraiser on Dec. 2 in NY, at a church downtown. One of the necessary steps in healing the Middle East is that cultured Americans, including Jews, must fall in love with Arab culture as we have fallen in love with Jewish culture. We must see the best in these people. There will be several Arab artists at the event. Just watch: if there is a peace deal in I/P officialdom is going to celebrate by embracing Arab culture at last. We must go ahead.
