AJC dances in blood. Where are J Street, IPF, and Peace Now?

David Harris of the American Jewish Committee is on the case, dancing in blood:

Rather than heed the warnings, however, Hamas leaders continued the attacks and taunted Israel to retaliate. Now Israel has – by targeting military and security bases in Gaza…

“Hamas has only itself to blame for the current events.  Its leaders, choosing to pursue terror against Israel
rather than the welfare of the Palestinian people, have brought it on.
They believed they could repeatedly attack Israeli towns and villages
with impunity, while counting on Israeli restraint.

Where the hell are IPF or J Street or Americans for Peace Now? All silent. Where is liberal American Jewry?

Wait, here’s something: MJ Rosenberg on TPM Cafe:

Barack Obama starts fresh. He needs to make clear where he stands. Is
American policy just going to be the same as under Bush, i.e whatever
Israel does is fine. Or is he going to tell both sides what he expects
them to do, starting with an end to violence, terror, and blockade.
Enough is enough. It’s time for the honest broker to step in. That is
Obama. His credibility is at stake, along with all those innocent kids
under bombardment.

  1. Richard Witty says:

    From the Rosenburg article.

"Naturally the Bush administration has no problem with this. We "shock and awed" Iraq. Now Israel is doing it to the most densely populated spot on earth.

It is not like Israel wasn't provoked. It was. Hamas's suicidal addiction to bombing innocents borders on the insane. "

"HAMAS' SUICIDAL ADDICTION TO BOMBING INNOCENTS BORDERS ON THE INSANE."

  2. Crimson Ghost says:

What the Zionist controlled press fails to mention for the most part is that those feeble Hamas rocket attacks were in response to the draconian Israel blockade that has been slowly starving the Gaza population to death. That blockade probably has killed more people via hunger and disease than today's horrific bombing raids.

ISRAEL'S SUICIDAL ADDICTION TO BLOCKADING AND STARVING INNOCENTS BORDERS ON THE INSANE.

I say this in all seriousness. Israel is in the process of losing what little sympathy it still commanded, even in the U.S.

The unjustified $3 billion a year tribute that Israel has been sucking out of American taxpayers is totally on the table now.

We are so tired of subsidizing your shitty little country, Witty.

    FROM "THE U.K. GUARDIAN / OBSERVER" – APRIL 2006

……..Israel's policy was summed up by Dov Weisglass, an adviser to Ehud Olmert, the Israeli Prime Minister, earlier this year. 'The idea is to put the Palestinians on a diet, but not to make them die of hunger,' he said. The hunger pangs are supposed to encourage the Palestinians to force Hamas to change its attitude towards Israel or force Hamas out of government……

  5. Jim Haygood says:

    From the AJC statement:

'No nation, neither Israel nor any other sovereign state, could withhold a response indefinitely to an unrelenting siege of its civilian population. What would other countries do if faced with Israel’s circumstance? Without doubt, respond with military force if all other available avenues to restrain the aggressors proved to no avail.'

Here, Dave, let me rewrite that, and let's see how it sounds:

'No nation, neither Gaza nor any other sovereign state, could withhold a response indefinitely to an unrelenting siege of its civilian population. What would other countries do if faced with Gaza’s circumstance? Without doubt, respond with military force if all other available avenues to restrain the aggressors proved to no avail.'

One can hardly call Gaza's puny little rockets, fired by volunteer militias, a 'military response.' But with nothing to lose, and no alternative other than lying down and dying, it's the least they can do with limited resources.

Let's cut to the chase, shall we?

Whatever 'moral free pass' Israel earned in the wake of the Holocaust is OVER. No more reparations. No more subsidies. No more gentile guilt. Take your Yad Vashem and your Holocaust Museums and SHOVE IT.

No one feels sorry for vicious bullies.

  6. anonymous says:

Richard, I have no problem condemning terror by Hamas. Do you have any problem condemning a blockade that was targeted at ALL Gaza residents, or the vicious Israeli propensity of bombing civilians and hypocritically claiming they don't do this?

  7. Jim Haygood says:

"Take your Holocaust Museums and SHOVE IT."

Gosh, fake Jim Haygood, aren't you always saying we shouldn't blame Jews, just "zionists?"

  8. MM says:

What a coincidence that I was just being told on both CNN and BBC a few short days ago that Israel had decided to let in humanitarian aid to Gaza, and STILL those TERRORISTS continued to fire rockets.

The news media doesn't even continue the farce that they know how to distinguish Hamas from Islamic Jihad. And doubtless most of the rocket launchings are not independently investigated and verified. Not a single rocket casualty has even been reported in recent months.

We'll just have to take Israel's word that bombing urban population centers was an appropriate response, I guess.

And it seems like that's good enough for progressive humanitarian universalist zionists like Richard Witty.

What's "suicidal" is zionism's obsession with domination and exclusion.

J Street Statement on Gaza Attack
    by Steve Clemons @ thewashingtonnote.com

Just received the following from one of the principal shakers in the self-described "pro-Israel, pro-Peace" activist group, J Street. From Jeremy Ben-Ami, J Street's Executive Director:

While this morning's air strikes by Israeli Defense Forces in Gaza can be understood and even justified in the wake of recent rocket attacks, we believe that real friends of Israel recognize that escalating the conflict will prove counterproductive, igniting further anger in the region and damaging long-term prospects for peace and stability.
Respecting Israel's right to defend itself, we urge leaders there to recognize that there is no military solution to what is fundamentally a political conflict between the Israeli and Palestinian peoples…….

Israel's suicidal addiction to seizing hilltops, cutting down olive groves and stoning Palestinian schoolgirls borders on the insane.
