Merry hollow capitalist observance in a propositional nation!

Jack Ross on my assimilationism:

Does your wife really celebrate your holidays too?
My line is that if I had lived in Wilhelmine Germany or even in a certain place and time in this country I would have been a Christmas Jew (that was actually what the Germans called the assimilated elite); but a hollow capitalist observance in a propositional nation just isn't worth it.

Still, I certainly try not to actively shun Christmas, and I always have my Jewish Christmas with the tourists in Times Square, as I would probably faint at the sight of the Chinese place I like in Park Slope on Christmas Day.

That last is a joke about all the Jewish people eating Chinese on Christmas. My wife does celebrate the family rituals that are important to me. And I think she'd put Christmas and Easter in that category.

Would that we could send Jack Ross to Wilhemine Germany so that he could fulfill his destiny!
But some of us know how the story ended! The German non-Jews rather tired of Jack and his ilk constantly trying to show how cool and assimilated they were, and launched a bit of, well, shall we say, persecution against them. . .Nothing as bad as the NAKBA, of course (wherein some Muslim migrant workers lost the right to their tents) but persecution of a sort. We used to call it the Holocaust, and while it's scoffed at, laughed at, and denied on MONDOWEISS, some of us think it actually did happen, and it would be really cool if it could have happened to Jack!

I love it, Jack Ross, big shot guru to Phil Weiss, Has a Jewish Christmas in Times Square, whatever the fuck that means. But his wife celebrates the rituals that are important to him, Christmas and Easter. Yah right, and this is the go to guy for Jewish misdeeds in the bizzarro world of Phil Weiss.

    Dear Steve R,

You are trying to argue that assimilation is bad for American Jews because it didn't help the German Jews. Well, it did. Just not in Germany. American Jews on the other hand did very well. The problem with the German Jews is that they got associated in the popular mind with the terror wrought by Bolsheviks in Russia and the Ukraine. Thankfully we have no Bolsheviks here (though some would argue the neo-conservatives are bringing disrepute on all Jewish Americans).

  4. Steve R says:

Thanks for the clarification Duscany. It sure was too bad those German Jews went and got themselves killed! Cool also that you've created a ready-made excuse for violence against assimilated Jews in America, should it occur.
I can't believe Israel feels the need to have nuclear weapons what with Duscany justifying past and future anti-Jewish genocides.

  5. Duscany says:

Always happy to clarify matters for you, Steveo. I know how it is when you're justifying pogroms against the Palestinians all day long to lose sight of the big picture.

  6. Duscany says:

There's one other reason there will never be any pogroms in America. Due to assimilation there are too many people (like me) with Jewish spouses and (half) Jewish children. To get to them any anti-Semites would have to go through us first. America is built on assimilation. Come on in. The water's fine.

Anyone who minimizes the stark practical fear of the spreading reds in pre-NAZI Germany should read some applicable regional history; it was not lost on those Germans that a disproportion of the red zealots were Jews.

The scary reality was much more over there and then, than the McCarthy hearings and Hollywood black list.

While the heavy disproportion of Jews in the influential neocon
ranks raises valid questions that puts historical jewish memory
in obsessive fear, today really is not 1938, both due to American Jewish assimilation–at 62% of young Jews, the fact that American Jews are equal partners, if not more especially considering their % of the American population, in all of America's
elite ruling agencies and entities, including the press and educational system. Also, in 1938, there was no nuclear-armed
Israel heavily supported by the guilt-ridden West, especially Germany and the USA itself.

I know that you thin that the Jews of Europe deserved what they got but that misses the point. Not surprising with you. But that's not the point. Jews observe Hannukah and Passover. Not Christmas and Easter. I know that's a complicated concept for you but try to get your minute mick brain around that.

  9. anon says:

SOG, the only point I see is the one atop your tiny jew head. A growing number of families here in the propositional nation celebrate both jewish and christian holidays, and so do their children.

Get out of your schmaltsy & borrowed ghetto hole–even with your pinhead you may
in this great country you wouldn't budge from aspire to a higher
    level on Maslow's triangle.

  10. Sword of Gideonthe point. says:

Your an idiot. But that's nothing new. Your Christian, or your Jewish, or your Moslem, or your whatever the fuck you are. In your case an asshole. But that's not the point. JEWS DON"T CELEBRATE CHRISTMAS AND HAVE TREE"S. Particularly guys like Phil Weiss who wouldn't be caught dead in a synagogue. Why is that complicated. Or have you lose that many brain cells to alcohol.

  11. Todd says:

Propositional nation? That hasn't been decided yet. The heavy-handed and dishonest changes made to the nation over the last 40 or 50 years aren't written in stone. At some point, those of us who have been negatively affected will have a say in the matter.

Phil's definition of assimilation seems to be that ties to the past be severed, the majority and its traditions be downgraded and mocked and enough unassimilable foreigners be brought in to be able to call the nation's character into question, so that the past majority will have to bend to the ways of everyone else. That's not assimilation. Christmas must really bother him.

"I can't believe Israel feels the need to have nuclear weapons what with Duscany justifying past and future anti-Jewish genocides."

To put it more clearly, Israel's nuclear deterrence is ready to be used against America if it decides to expurgate itself from the zionist infestation which, ironically, is the greatest source of ill feelings against american jews. That's another reason why it's so important to keep the islamic threat in the minds of americans because when Judonia finally strikes american targets with nuclear weapons the "american" media will ignore the thousand dancing shlomos and focus on the many pages of the koram covering the once green lawns now choking under black rain's mud.

Of course I'm not american and as such I understand the liberty guys like Steve R have to threat americans openly might be part of the nature of american internal dialogue. Still, if a muslim said half as much I'm sure there would be consequences.

  13. Steve R says:

    Now pay attention cocksuckers!
No one is "threating" Americans. Only Muslims Arabs and others who wish to destroy Israel. If you are in that category, behave yourselves, or be prepared to be fucked up. Otherwise, sleep tight, and thank you for your interest.

  14. Anonymous says:

Unfortunately, though we have not the least interest in you, your inner thoughts were already laid bare for all to see, Steve.

  15. anon says:

Actually SOG, many Jews celebrate, and have their own sort of trees, all those olive groves stolen from the Palestinians. Cling to your shallow ID as a Jew, we all know you need it to feel special when confronting the nuance of reality.

An asshole losing brain cells to alcohol. Weird logic. Such a scholar, a mensch, you are SOG. Go play with your dreidel–just remember,
your kind even stole that name and object from the Germans.

You worship a scraggly burning bush, others worship a majestic German pine tree.

Personally, I think one is more poetic than the other. But that's just me.

You take the low talmud road, I"ll take the high universal road–
after all didn't God make all men in his image?

Or can't you get that concept around your stiff neck?

  16. Steve R says:

"You worship a scraggly burning bush, others worship a majestic German pine tree."

Yeah, those Germans sure are majestic! Too bad they didn't finish the job on those scraggly Jews, eh anon? Or may I call you cocksucker?

But do give the Jews their dreidel, cocksucker. The word is a Yiddish, not German (Yiddish pre-dates German as a written language, so its just as fair to say the Germans stole the language from Yiddish). It's been traced to 1st century BCE Judea. Oh well, more facts to be ignored and or lied about. What difference does it all make anyway–there are some Arab migrant workers whose welfare checks from the Israeli government are being unfairly delayed! Oh how we cry at the injustice!

  17. anon says:

Yiddish is a derivative of hoch Deutsche.
You may reveal your juvenile moronic nature by calling names anytime, Steve R. We here now how you served this nation by
fighting for its right to free speech.
