Obama is getting ‘domestic political cover’ to do something at last

American public opinion is changing. Today at a golf course in Hawaii, five people tried to get Gaza material to Obama, and the Secret Service stopped them. The activists' statement:

This gift of films is offered in hope that ... you will gain an insight as to why the Palestinians have been fighting for their land, pride and children for over 100 years. Today, one of Israel's major newspapers, Ha'aretz, has condemned Israel's slaughter of Palestinian men, women and children and in no uncertain terms: Israel is and has been committing war crimes. We look forward to your presidency...more than any other in our lifetime.

I think Obama is hip. I keep saying that, we'll find out if I'm wrong. Jerome Slater, in the Buffalo News, agrees:

according to some reports, Obama has privately told Israeli leaders that Israel “would be crazy” to refuse the Arab peace plan. Moreover, if Obama chooses to play an activist role, he will have domestic political cover, for an end to the Israeli occupation and the creation of a viable Palestinian state has now received important high-level bipartisan support.
