Improvement on ‘Self-hater’…’Uncle Tom Israelbasher’

First Melanie Phillips accuses Haaretz and all others of the blood libel for suggesting that the atrocities in Gaza were anything other than an accident. Then she calls these critics "Uncle Tom Israelbasher" and says the phenomenon is "global." She's got a point there; it is global.

Oh no! You've gone and discovered one of our national disgraces: Mad Mel Phlips and her merry band of the Paladins of the Clash of Civilisations!

Mel's weltanshauung is best summed up as follows:

The West: The US (and sometimes Europe, if it falls in line). Judeo-Christian wholesomeness. Apple pie. Under threat from Hussein the First.

The Best: Israel. First Bastion against the Barbarians. Is She Falls Everything Else Falls.

The Rest: the ME. Islamofascist. Out To Destroy the Best and then the Rest.

Caution: Mad Mel is quite addictive. Do read the comment sections for best comical effect.

  2. Gert says:

Ooops: '[...] and then the West.', of course…

  3. LanceThruster says:

@Gert – I agree with you that the comment section is quite a larf. Whether Mel's ad hominems against those disagreeing with her, or her sycophants ratcheting up the crazy, it's never a dull moment.

You also hit the nail on the head with you summarization of her spiel.

  4. Mooser says:

    "Uncle Tom Israelbasher"?

She does not, does not want to go there.

  5. Gert says:

One of the funniest things about La Phlips is that she constantly rails against 'multiculturalism' (definitely an ideology in Mel's grotty mind), which she sees as the Evil that Eats the UK from Within: for a British Jewess that's a bit rich, no? But that's where the Judeo-Christian-thingy comes in handy, I guess: Mel's not part of a minority anymore, cos' it's us against the Darkies…

Phlips, Pipes, Horriblewitz (D., not A.), Wilders and Bat Y'eor should start a comedy group. Or a Hyperconservative US Finkfank.

  6. Eva Smagacz says:

    Phil,

Melanie Phillips is a hysterical Apocalypse Now "clash of civilisations" Israel apologist extraordinaire. All Muslims are barbaric women-hating knife-brandishing bloodthirsty religious crazies.

Don't waste any more of your ink on her.

  7. Rowan says:

The reference is not to "Uncle Tom" as in "Uncle Tom's Cabin", but to "Uncle Tom" as in "Uncle Tom Cobbley and all", an english expression meaning absolutely nothing whatever, but quite widely used to express tedium at the thought of a seemimgly endless list of people.

  8. Gert says:

Thanks Rowan, I think you might be right, not sure…

In one of her latest brainfarts she writes:

Thus the Obama administration is preparing the ground to throw Israel to the wolves of Iran. The dominant faction in DC has decided that a nuclear Iran is something America will have to live with; to live with it, America must do a deal with it; that deal will consist of Israel delivered to it bound and gagged, in exchange for which Iran will leave the US alone.

Except that of course it would not leave the US alone. On the contrary, an incinerated Israel would be the galvanic impetus for a nuclear Iran to seek to finish off both America and Europe. The criminal stupidity of this approach is therefore beyond comprehension. But then, ever since 9/11 important and influential people — on both sides of the Atlantic – have been consumed by the belief that the root of the whole damned problem is Israel.

Such irrationality has its roots in unconscionable prejudice. Chas W Freeman was but a patch of froth floating on the surface of the sewage.

Iran and its magically acquired massive arsenal of atomic WMDs, 'finishing off both America and Europe'… I've read more truthful accounts in "Superman" comic books.

And the Paladins lap it all up and beg for more…

  9. American says:

Melanie Phillips is a junk yard bitch.

Her barking is not worth commenting on.

  10. FatNSassy says:

It is not self-hate to put humanity above nationalism or ethnocentrism. It is the only way peace will be achieved. Those that do so are more evolved individuals. Either this Melanie person doesn't have the ability to look beyond her own prejudices or she is a paid propagandist. Either way she is lowering the bar for everyone!

  11. Anonymous says:

FinkFank! Pray what's a FinkFank? I fear trying to discover things for myself since an MM comment containing "sausage factory" led me to discover the world "fagatorium," of which I very much regret. FinkFank seems a good name for a ferret or maybe a hinkypunk.

  12. Mark Smith says:

If she denies the Israeli atrocities in Gaza, I will deny that the Jewish holocaust happened. As a Jew, Melanie Phillips cannot have it both ways.

Gerald Kaufman the MP recently stood up in the House of Commons and gave a speech saying that the Israelis were using the Holocaust to justify their slaughter of the Palestinians. He had lost several family families to the Holocaust. He was horrified at was going on in his family's name in Gaza.

  13. Gert says:

    Finkfank? Think-tank!

  14. Anonymous says:

Hehe, thanks, Gert. Not as dangerous as I suspected, and very funny, like trading Melanie Phillips for Felony Syphilis.

  15. rykart says:

There are two kinds of Jews–those who revere David Horowitz and those who revere Vladimir Horowitz.

The former need to be tossed off a cliff.

  16. Carl M says:

What Henry Ford said in the Dearborn Independent, May 1921:

    Will Jewish Zionism Bring Armageddon?

“Zionism is challenging the attention of the world today because it is creating a situation out of which many believe the next war will come….

The methods adopted to get the land of Palestine away from the Arabs in the early days of the Zionist invasion were such as will fill the world with indignation once the world is permitted to know what was done….. It staggers the imagination to forecast what will be done in a period of full and unquestioned rule. …

It begins to be very clear that Jewish nationalism will develop along the line of enmity to the rest of the world. Already the dangerous proposal has been made to organize a Jewish army for the protection of the Suez Canal.

Instead of thinking of roads and farmsteads, of vineyards and oil presses, of schools and sanitary villages, the Jews are thinking of elevating themselves into the military power that shall stand between East and West on that most strategic strip of ground in the world. The whole situation is fraught with danger, and men who wish well to the Jews are alarmed and saddened by the prospect….

The watchmen on the towers of the world are alarmed at what seems brewing in Judah's geographical caldron."

  17. Chris says:

Mad Mel doesn't think there is any evidence for evolution.

Only the trashiest of publications give her a platform.

  18. Duscany says:

Israel has a 300-to-nothing advantage in nuclear weapons over Iran. Even if Iran manages to cobble together some device in the next two to five years, Israel will sill have a 300-to-one advantage. I would think, when you're talking deterrence, those are pretty good odds. Yet Israel acts as if Iran's acquisition of a weapon means Israel is a potential smoking ruin, an outcome that can only avoided if America bombs Iran for it.

  19. You're right mel, I'm not an anti-semite as I get along with plenty of jews and other cultures just fine.

I'm just now simply a "rag tag uncle tom Israel basher" and I suppose to wear that charge, I'm dang proud of it given the amount of freedoms Israel first lunatics have taken away in the formerly free US of A.

You can no longer loiter in public, they don't want you crossing the street because its not "safe", you can't have control over your own body, your person needs to be property of the federal government to keep everyone in line, anything said against anyone else is considered a "threat", its okay to protest against palestine because they are "terra-rists" but don't you dare stand up for palestinians….as then you're a really bad person.

There's a law against throwing candy wrappers on the ground, listening to music, running around on public property, having cannabis on any school grounds, engaging in a loud party, going outdoors and fishing in a public area, reading the constitution aloud in a public library (or public setting), running no more than 2 miles over the speed limit, and you can also get a ticket and they need to send you to prison if you say bad things about the Iraq war.

The question remains for sycophants like Meg, Just WHEN did it get this ridiculous or absurdly bad? They treat us like first rate children, believing we can't do anything without the Federal Government. I say they're full of lies and hocus pocus, and every one of these bad laws should be challenged. Because when you challenge these tyrants and their laws the paper tiger collapses.

Hey Meg how's that AIPAC speaking engagement going for you, surely Barbara Bush will clap and remember to speak out on bad people and why you shouldn't trouble your "beautiful mind" about any of those arab palestinians. Those dirty swindlers and extortionists, why they had the nerve just to ask to be alive. They can't do that in front of the Federal Reserve hit squad, it's just not allowed.

right you are on Vladimir – though I think some gentiles may be in that camp as well

  23. Nicolae says:

Jew, Ashkenazi (Franco‑German, Eastern and Central European Jews)

After the Northern Kingdom of Israel was conquered by the Assyrian King Shalmaneser V, in 745‑722 BCE, (for their sin before Yahweh), the Israelites were exiled into (Assyria), 2 Kings 17:5‑7. They prospered during the years in Assyria, and became a huge number of people. Outgrowing the land area they eventually migrated North through the ‘Caucasus Mountains’, and into central and Western Europe forming the European Nations, and are known as Caucasians ‘whites.’ As these Israelites migrated they influenced many people groups, no longer having an organized religious priesthood, and not having a nation or national identity, these migrating people, descendants of Jacob/Israel nevertheless passed on their bits and pieces of the ancient Scriptural worship system which was corrupted through their many years of captive living in pagan Assyria. During the 7th century A.D. these bits and pieces of the corrupt worship system became a form of Jew‑dah‑ism and was embraced by the Khazar King, his court, and the Khazar military class, who are descendants of Ashkenaz. This new religion of Jew‑dah‑ism, became the religion of the Khazars, and forms most of modern cultic European Jewry.

In common parlance the present day ‘Jew’ is synonymous with the ‘Ashkenazi Khazar Jew’. Scripture refers to the Ashkenaz in Gen. 10:3, and in I Chron. 1:6, as one of the sons of Gomer, who was a son of Japheth, son of Noah. Ashkenaz is also a brother of Togarmah (and a nephew of Magog) who the Kazars, according to King Joseph, (of the Kazars) claimed as their ancestor. The people who refer to themselves as Ashkenazi Jews are not Israelites, and they are not Semites because they do not descend from Noah’s son Shem. They are Ashkenazi Khazar Jews, who descend from Noah’s son Japheth. Approximately 85‑90 percent of the Jews in the world call themselves Ashkenazi Jews.

Present‑day Jew‑dah‑ism, was formally formed into it’s basic cultic form about 1,000 years ago, (according to the Jews), when ‑ Rabbenu Gershon of Mainz, Germany, published a ban on bigamy. This marks the recorded beginning of the Ashkenazi Jews*, and Franco‑German halachic** creativity. The word ‘Ashkenazi’ is not Hebrew for the word Germany, although the name has become ‘associated’ with Germany because many Ashkenazi Jews organized in Russia, Eastern Europe and Western Mongolia.

*Ashkenazi ‑ (Franco‑German, Eastern and Central European Jews). **halachic ‑ loose ‘interpretations’ of Old Testament laws

  24. Rowan says:

Nicolae, the claim that "the Israelites … eventually migrated North through the ‘Caucasus Mountains’, and into central and Western Europe forming the European Nations, and are known as Caucasians ‘whites’", if true, would imply that Europe was previously uninhabited. Is that really your opinion?

  25. Margaret says:

"The methods … were such as will fill the world with indignation once the world is permitted to know what was done."

It's taken a long time; thank goodness for the 'Net.

Talking points, some more vulgarly stated than others.

Thanks for the guffaws, Gert. (aka ROTFLMAO)

  26. Anon says:

I used to be in the habit of reading Melanie Philips rants, i'm not quite sure why, partly for the sheer spectacle i guess, and that the degree of self-convinced moral authority is remarkable – something a gentile could never aspire to i think. However assuming the psychological position of her foe(muslims – though i am not a muslim) i came to find reading her columns an act of masochism, and how much more so it must be for muslims themselves. Now, in real life i don't think i have ever had an extended conversation about Israel/Palestine, Brits are just too busy running there own lives (and perhaps as people with largely no strong sense of ethnic identity are disinterested in those who have such a sense) but for those who keep an eye on events in the middle east, the likes of Melanie Philips has induced self-censorship and ultimately the cultivated attitude to let history just unfold. Thus it seems the greatest medium for communication yet invented cannot facilitate a meeting of minds, and for sure the aversion i have to Mrs Philips must be equally felt even by dovish jews when they see opinions they half-agree with on blogs such as this combined with useless offensive talk on Khazars(frankly i don't care what the merky origins are of some subset of the jewish people are, after all isn't undermining the ethnic identity of a jew as futile and wrong as undermining the ethnic identity of a palestinians) or worse – holocaust denial.

So, what's my point?..some say indifference in the face of suffering is evil, i say to Mad Mel that you induced exactly that.

  27. David F. says:

    Very funny, Gert!

With reading Melaine Phillips, I have a strong urge to pull-social class.

I am from a snobby (though fallen) midwestern/southern genteel upper class family with ties to the Civil War, Revolutionary War, Mayflower etc. I know what the WEST is, and Phillips, I'm afraid, is not among those with whom I'd wish to share a foxhole in its defense.

Phillips is a retooled Soviet commissar shouting different slogans, but still vainly seeking the legitimacy of the Junker class she displaced.

I am grateful to her, though, (and to David Horowitz). It's refreshing to occasionally indulge in some well-mannered Victorian snobbery from time to time.
