Key facts in Tristan Anderson shooting

Thanks to the AP:
–In the last year, 4 Palestinians have been killed by Israelis in protests of the Israeli landgrab in the village in which Anderson was shot;
–Anderson's ambulance sat for 15 minutes at a checkpoint, waiting for an Israeli ambulance to come and get him.
And remember: 10 Palestinians were killed demonstrating in the West Bank against the Gaza slaughter.

Facts that support that something must change.

But, NOT facts that support that Israel sought to inflict harm on Anderson specifically.

  2. Ana Sanchez says:

And 3 out of the 4 Palestinian protesters that were killed at the Bil'n protests were also shot in the head. Coincidence? Aren't all Israeli military rifles equipped with a scope?

  3. Chris Berel says:

Are you telling us, Anna? Or are you guessing? And if you are guessing, was it to inflame passion or because you're a terribly ignorant person?

  4. LD says:

Witty, are you a goddamn LUNATIC?

Jesus Christ. Go away, you scumbag.

  5. Liza says:

I think that perhaps the Israeli hardliners and their US supporters are beginning to see cracks in the unquestioning US support for their foreign policy. In other words, the land grab is now or never and this struggle has always been about land and resources.

What happened to Tristan Anderson is just so extremely tragic. His voice was one of the voices of reason, and one that so many with a different agenda want to be silenced.

This is how those voices are silenced.

  6. Chris Berel says:

While what happened to Tristan is tragic, his voice was not of reason. Unless LD is your paragon of Reason.

No one sought to shut Tristan's mouth. He was just too stupid to open it when he was in a losition of safety, which was certainly afforded him.

  7. Shirin says:

"3 out of the 4 Palestinian protesters that were killed at the Bil'n protests were also shot in the head. Coincidence?"

    Not at all.

"Aren't all Israeli military rifles equipped with a scope?"

    Yes, they are.

  8. Suzanne says:

I was going to say that when Tristan gets older and wiser, I wonder if he will regret his youthful rash behavior….

And then I read that he's 38 years old and has been a tree sitter in his time.

Not to pass judgment on the poor guy–I truly hope he recovers from this… but one has to wonder if he did this out of sincerity–or if he was in it for the thrill.

Most people take stock of their life as they mature, and develop better judgment. I hope if he makes it, he will do that now.

Look at our Resident Zionists, you guys. It's obvious they've received updated talking points from the Israeli Foreign Ministry. Yesterday, they derided, belittled, and libeled Tristan Anderson. The new approach is to express sympathy for Tristan Anderson … and then deride, belittle, and libel him. I guess the Israeli Brain Bugs realized the celebratory approach to violence against the goyim was not effectively convincing the goyim that Israel is our Best Friend Evar.

  10. r says:

    Suzanne

Why are you expressing sympathy for Tristan?

You can't fool anyone here into imagining you have a human bone in your repulsive, alien body, so knock it off, please.

Just declare him "a terrorist" like the rest of your stomach-turning, pro-Israel Nazi scumball dog fucker klan and be done with it, (you vile fraud).

Suzanne: "Most people take stock of their life as they mature, and develop better judgment. I hope if he makes it, he will do that now."

I am not not sure that not confronting Israel about their actions in the west bank is the better judgment. It may be safer in the short run, given how paranoid and callous that society has become. But sometimes you just have to stand up to things that aren't right. Tristan Anderson did that and the IDF caved in his face with a tear gas cannister than then fired additional canisters to prevent anyone from helping him. I suspect you don't tell people who stood up in the Warsaw Ghetto that hopefully they would grow better judgment when they got older.

  12. neverforget says:

    @witty

Tristan's injury is part of a recent escalation in the army's violent attempts to suppress Palestinian unarmed popular resistance to the occupation. Israeli troops have been using the new teargas canister since December 2008, coinciding with the beginning of Israel's ruthless assault on Gaza. The black canister, labelled “40mm bullet, special/extended range” in Hebrew, has a range of over 400 meters, emits a very faint sound when fired and leaves hardly any smoke tail at all – making it extremely difficult to avoid. Furthermore, and against the army's own regulations, soldiers routinely shoot it directly towards demonstrators, as opposed to in an arched trajectory. The combination of all these factors has led to numerous severe injuries from the projectiles, including a fractured skull and a broken leg suffered by Palestinians earlier this year.

  13. LanceThruster says:

With all the braggadocio about Israel's technological skills, you'd think they'd be able to develop more benign crowd control apparatus…unless that wasn't their goal in the first place.

Maybe all the head shots on children by IDF snipers were not a result of bad aim either.

  14. Michael says:

I don't think Israel's crowd control was ever meant to be humanitarian. Remember, this is the same country that attacks crowded civilian areas with white phosphorus from thousands of feet in the air. Israel is not humanitarian – they act in the exact opposite position of humanitarian – and that is what we call them "crimes against humanity".

I expect this kind of crowd control from oppressive warlords in africa. This kind of unprecedent disregard for human life characterizes these warlords. Even apartheid has been abolished in many oppressive african nations. BUT NOT IN ISRAEL – Israel/IDF are nothing more than high-tech warlords that practice undemocratic apartheid-like policies.

Take Israel for what it is – uncivilized warlords that have no regard for human life.

    God save Israel…from the Israelis

  15. MX says:

Killing is how the Zionists entertain themselves. You've never seen people so happy as these Zionists when Israel is killing, maiming, and humiliating. They enjoy the violence vicariously by lying for Israel after the fact. They're getting a good chuckle out of this attack on a grown man. But if you really want to get a good laugh out of them, you have to wait until the IDF burns a child to death with white phosphorus.

Sociopathy is something we can understand. But this … This is organized sociopathy. It shouldn't even be possible.

  16. stevieb says:

Anderson joins a list of westerners specifically targeted by Israel, either for protesting Israel's latest fascist policy or documenting them.

A BBC cameraman filming documentary in the OT was dispatched with a bullet in his brain.

    And there are others too.

    But let the dizzy's talk….

Every persistent social worker in the USA encounters among his or her case load, countless numbers of
families wherein the parent(s) did not intend to harm their children but did harm them nevertheless to the extent needed for
social worker intervention, again, and again. Call it whatever you want Witty, extreme negligence or whatever, Anderson is the social worker in this case. He was shot at the door of the abusive household, simply for knocking.

Some details on the four people murdered by the Israelis in Ni'lin:

*Ahmed Mousa, age 10, was shot in the forehead with live ammunition on 29 July 2008.
*The following day, Yousef Amira (17) was shot twice with rubber-coated steel bullets, leaving him brain dead. He died a week later on 4 August 2008.
*Arafat Rateb Khawaje (22) was shot in the back with live ammunition on 28 December 2008.
*That same day, Mohammed Khawaje (20), was shot in the head with live ammunition, leaving him brain dead. He died three days in a Ramallah hospital.

How many people over many decades now have stuck up the picture of Anne Frank (or Dr. Baruch Goldstein) out of sincerity, as distinguished from merely for the thrill of it?

Anybody can attempt to kill the messenger by impugning his or her motives. Suzanne likes to do this, as if such a dialogue tactic is not seen ASAP as a diversionary tactic, ignoring the issues presented. Suzanne, when will you wake up and realize many on this blog commenting are not childish, nor otherwise deserving of no respect? You want it, then give it.

Every few hours I hit up google for news on Tristan Anderson's condition, and to monitor the depravity of those Wittyesque scumbags around the US who are rushing to "explain' why he is undeserving of compassion, why it was an accident, why it is irrelevant, no big deal, and to do what zionists do best: lecture and scold the world. The most odious of these trivializing lecture-headlines: "Play with fire get burned."

But I am pleased to report that every single search I've done – and there've been about 30 – has had MondoWeiss prominently featured on page one of google. Well done!
