As if the US needed another reason to not trust the new Israeli government

Lieberman The JTA is reporting that Avigdor Lieberman has chosen Naor Gilon to be his chief of staff in the Israeli Foreign Ministry. Gilon was the lead Israeli official involved in the Pentagon espionage scandal involving Lawrence Franklin and ex-AIPACers Steve Rosen and Keith Weissman. Gilon allegedly received classified information about US foreign policy regarding Iran from Rosen and Weissman while he served as the political officer in Israel's Washington embassy.

It's already been reported that Uzi Arad, another Israeli involved in the scandal, will be Netanyahu's national security adviser. With "friends" like these  . . .

Poor MJ Rosenberg! Looks like he's getting all excited over nothing. He thought Obama was gonna fix it all up, but it's looking like "the two state solution is dead".
    So, now they tell us?

  2. Chris Berel says:

Except there is no spying scandal. The accused are not accused of spying.

There goes Phil, bullshit streaming from him.

  3. Steven J. Rosen's lawsuit against AIPAC (filed on March 2, 2009), its board of directors, and outside PR firm is now online at the Israel Lobby Archive. It is noteworthy reading for Rosen's attempt to "thread the needle" between saying that there is nothing wrong with AIPAC trafficking in US national defense information, while simultaneously revealing how widespread the practice truly is at AIPAC.

At least he didn't use the "passing secret documents" canard.

  5. syvanen says:

But Rosen is charged with passing secret documents. Technically he did not steal the documents, but received them from the mole Franklin and then passed them on to the Israelis. Franklin is already a convicted spy. Rosen was his handler and bagman. These facts are not disputed.

  6. USS Liberty says:

Rosenberg & Pollard didn't act except patriotically either. And Greenspan's a saint like Madoff.

    Kids in the hall …

Lieberman is squeezing our heads! He's squeezing our heads!

Readers, please read the indictment for yourselves and judge whether Julian and Chris Berel are lying when they say that the charges have nothing to do with spying. Sure, count five was only charged against Mr. Franklin, but the other counts are violations of the Espionage Act: they are all acts of espionage. We'll see how smug the Israel-firsters are after 28 May. I so wish I could go.

According to Indictment, AIPAC Has Been Under Investigation Since Early 1999

  8. Chris Berel says:

None of the charges deal with espionage. I sure all of the supporters of these men who acted with the hightest of morals will love seeing colin have to eat his own bullshit after the two are found not guilty.

Franklin provided unsolicited information regarding matters of life and death. The AIPAC employees were morally bound to relay the freely given information.

  9. syvanen says:

Colin, Chris and Julian are simply repeating the same lines that have appeared in the WSJ as well from other neocon outlets. They all simply deny the facts of the case. Over and over again. There is no effort to even dispute the accusations, they simple deny them. Not just deny the accusation of espionage, but even that the charges have been made. It is one of the better examples of the bizzarro world. And since there is no MSM discussion of these issues they largely remain unaddressed except in a few relatively isolated blogs. I have notice the usually reliable MJ Rosenberg has denied that these charges have been made. Jewish, Israeli spies in our midst. It is causing extreme discomfort throughout this land, especially among inside intellectuals and opinion makers.

LOL! Readers, don't take anyone's word for anything, read the indictment and judge for yourselves. :)

I question these stories about Israeli spying. Chris says they are not true and he has shown himself to be a highly authoritative source on everything from the origins of the Jewish people, to Mid East history, to the amount of U.S.foreign aid to Israel, to Torah scholarship, bestiality, serpent handling and tactics for avoiding alien abduction.

    Don't mess with him.

  12. Ed says:

The problem with the revolving door between corrupt Washington and corrupt Israel is that, for all we know, the Israeli government could itself be infiltrated, and pulling Washington's strings (through the Israel lobby) on behalf of some other foreign or rogue interest. We would never know.

The Israel lobby takes its marching order from Tel Aviv, which takes its marching order from who or what? No one knows.

It's ironic that the two-party regime likes to play the national security card to perpetuate Big Brother and its own duopoly, yet it leaves Americans wide open to all manner of threats by allowing a foreign lobby to dictate its policy. For example, who knows why US forces scattered to the four corners of the world do half of the things they do. They might be being directed to risk life and limb to eliminate “terrorists” who are actually just Mossad’s Ecstasy dealing competition.

Because it allows this, the two-party regime is itself a threat to American national security.

  13. Chris S says:

    rykart,

"Aliens Suck" is my own personal 5th step in the How to Make the Case for Israel and Win 4-step method.

And that is such a cute picture of Avigdor "Misunderstood" Lieberman.

  14. Ed says:

It just occurred to me. The reason Big Government liberals and Big Government conservatives never question any of this is because they consider Zionism today's equivalent of the Church, trust its hierarchy eminently, and have blind faith in its integrity — or at least pretend to. Like the corrupt Church before it lost its monopoly after the Reformation, the two-party regime attracts the most noxious low-life’s to walk the face of the earth.

  15. marco ross says:

    To Syvanen:
Did I ever say the charges against Rosen weren't true? No, I said the case looked weak.
That is not the same as saying that Steve Rosen is innocent of anything. I'd never say that. I know him too well!

  16. Sin Nombre says:

I think we're missing something big here. Obama, via George Mitchell, just hauled out what is perhaps his biggest gun and shot Netanyahu and Lieberman right square in the face: The establishment of a Palestinian state, Mitchell said point blank, is in the interest of the United States.

"So go ahead," Obama has just essentially warned Netanyahu in other (non-diplomatic) words, "you who are on the receiving end of so much U.S. largesse spit on this and see me go to the American people and ask whose interests they want to see me pursue; yours, or theirs."

My bet: Netanyahu will buckle, rhetorically.

  17. @marco ross

True. It is all in the eyes of the beholder.
To FBI it was a clear cut case. Conspire to receive classified info and pass it on to a foreign government.

To Israel firsters and onlies the case against Rosen is weak. What he did was no different from what they do on a daily basis.
Some would say that people like Elliot Abrams, Michael Ledeen and Douglas Feith are agents of influence and should be prosecuted as well.

So there you have it. The discrepancy between the law of the land and the policy of it's government makes the case murky. I guess one would need Dershowitz' Yeshiva education to see it all clear. Wheel within wheels and all that.

  18. syvanen says:

who is marco ross. Where did he come from?

  19. Margaret says:

Mooser, I think if you look into Obama's background as a community organizer in Chicago, which has been at the root of the civil rights movement from the 1800's, what he's doing might make more sense. It appears to me he may use critical social theory in his approach to governing. Clearly, he doesn't run things, and not much time has passed. Based on what he has accomplished, he is successful in bringing together people who are motivated to achieve their objectives.

At the moment, Obama appears to be sending the message that Netanyahu can speak to the President of the US or he can talk to AIPAC, but not both at the same time. I support that; I want Netanyahu to understand how much support that position has within the US.

  20. stevieb says:

These psychotic fascists that are running Israel at the moment are going to go ahead with an attack on Iran regardless of what Obama says.

Maybe now the non-Zionist ruling elites in America will see that Israel is no friend of the United States(and hopefully make some current zionists realize the folly of their ways, thought I doubt it).

I feel nausea just thinking about that….

To Israel firsters and onlies the case against Rosen is weak. What he did was no different from what they do on a daily basis.

I recall all the whining from WSJ, WAPO, NYT, etc luminaries about how convicted felon 'Pooperscooper' Libby didn't do anything wrong and that is was an outrage that he was being harassed, yadadada. Their lies and delusions did not save him from an impartial jury of his peers, nor will they Mssrs Rosen and Weissmann.

Just as soon as America signs it.

  25. @Todd

I wonder if we could get the Israelis to sign an agreement to not spy on foreign governents?

    First thing first Todd.
Once we have made them stop killing innocent children and littering foreign land with cluster bombs we can hope they start behaving as true friends and allies. But don't hold your breath. I suspect the zionists are willing to stoop to any despicable action to secure their territorial dreams.

"Franklin provided unsolicited information regarding matters of life and death. The AIPAC employees were morally bound to relay the freely given information."

And why is Franklin in prison? If he just passed on the classified data to patriotic Americans?
The AIPAC employees were morally bound, but by their loyalty to Israel–last time I looked, Israel
was not a state of the USA (though it gets all the benefits of being one, and none of the duties).

Nice to know Israelis who took part in this spying are now big guys in the new Israeli regime.
    Oh, we shouldn't notice?
