Natonal Lawyers Guild says Israel’s ‘onslaught’ in Gaza violated U.S. law

The National Lawyers Guild has issued its report following its delegation's trip to Gaza. You will find overwhelming evidence that Israel showed a complete disregard for civilian life. The snipings of the elderly, the white phosphorus in neighborhoods and schools, the prevention of ambulances from getting to anybody... it's all here. Also: the assertion that Israel has violated U.S. law. The Arms Control Act, governing its uses of munitions made here. And the Foreign Assistance Act--no aid to countries with gross human-rights violations. The Lawyers Guild has called for several U.S. investigations of same and for Congress to end military aid now till a determination is made.

Congress can't take the NLG's call, it's major players are at the AIPAC annual traitor festivities. (Yes I know it's not right now).

  2. Rowan says:

The so-called "National Lawyers Guild" is a Trotskyite front organisation, I think. If it was genuinely revolutionary Marxist, it would have been smashed long ago, but Trots are a phoney Left diversionary force in US politics.

Not even close. what did you think because they are lawyers they're pro Israel? Then again, you are pretty typical for the posters on this site.

I see you have finally mastered the art of posting your comments once and once only, Julian. One more effort like that, and we shall be rid of them altogether…

The US Army War College published an analysis of Hamas awhile back. I should dig it up but it's conclusions run contrary to mainstream rhetoric – naturally.

You see, Julian, when people actually THINK about American foreign policy and analyze the I-P conflict thoroughly they don't reach the conclusions Zionists want.

With regards to this specific organization – I agree. They are ideologically on the left, but then again could we say the same for the US Army War College?

Perhaps, just perhaps, people are on the side of TRUTH.

While Zionism depends exclusively on rhetoric/dishonesty/outright propaganda.

    As would any colonial ideology.

  6. Rowan says:

American Trotskyism (if that is what the NLG represents) is a phoney Left, not a real, revolutionary Left, that was my point. So is Trotskyism everywhere in the west, that is why it is tolerated, and even cosseted, in certain ways.

Just skimmed the NLG doc. Pretty impressive. Factual. I didn't see anything in there that was not buttressed by news accounts, or news videos. Will read in greater depth when I get the chance.

  8. Rowan says:

the trots are pretty reliable as alternative news sources — they just don't do anything …

  9. MRW. says:

Read the history of the NLG:

They are on the right side of history at this moment. The world has changed and old white men with 20th C ideas like Netanyahu and Cheney are not. The 20th C is soooo over. It is soooo gone.

Messianic anything is now anachronistic. Including Christian, Jewish, and Moslem religions, anything Abrahamic. Ditto the economic model started with The Industrial Revolution 180 years ago. And out social constructs. It's just fucking over.

ROFL. If you didn't see anything in there that was not buttressed by news accounts or news videos you must have been reading it with your eyes closed. The only "news reports" that "corroborate" the stories in the NLG report about targeting civilians are reports that quote the same sources that the NLG is using. Two news reports that quote the same source do not buttress each other.

What was in there that actually related to war crimes was uncritically published uncorroborated statements by the Palestinians. An unreliable statement from an unreliable source doesn't become a reliable report just because a bunch of people report that the unreliable source told them the statement.

  12. *News on arms shipment to Israel?

New information obtained by Amnesty researchers this week confirmed a massive shipment of U.S. weapons was delivered to Israel on March 22nd.

The administration allowed the delivery, despite clear evidence of Israeli human rights violations, some amounting to war crimes, including the controversial use of U.S. made white phosphorous munitions over densely populated areas. That's the white phosphorous that sticks to flesh and sears it until completely deprived of oxygen.

You and I need the State Department to know that they can't just plop tons of weapons into the hands of a known serious human rights violator without getting grilled.

Please ask State Department officials why the U.S. would deliver these arms to Israel.

You mean, like that unsourced and uncorroborated farrago of bullshit about Israel sending a whole fleet of F15s, F16s, and drones to Sudan, to attack an 'Iranian convoy of Fajr rockets for Hamas,' that appeared in TIME Magazine three days ago? The anonymous 'journalists' who took it all down as dictation and copied it onto their pages referred to it as bold, because it was Jews doing it.

" An unreliable statement from an unreliable source doesn't become a reliable report just because a bunch of people report that the unreliable source told them the statement."

Remember this when an IDF spokesperson is quoted or summarized.

  15. Citizen says:

The USA munitions were delivered to a pre-set US dump in Israel, as per yet one of thousands of
intentionally obscured memo agreements between the USA & Israel that ordinary Americans have
absolutely no clue about. We intentionally aided and abetted the massacre of Gaza in every way possible other
than sending in US troop along with the IDF: link to amnestyusa.org
