Here’s another example of the sly deceptions that distinguish much of the Israeli and Jewish Press. UN Watch is a subsidiary of the American Jewish Committee and this is certainly not a secret to the Jerusalem Post. To describe it as "independent" is patently dishonest. From JPost:
"Prior to the vote, Col. Richard Kemp, the former commander of British forces in Afghanistan, addressed the UN session, and said that based on his knowledge and experience, during Operation Cast Lead the IDF "did more to safeguard the rights of civilians in a combat zone than any other army in the history of warfare."
"Speaking on behalf of UN Watch, an independent Geneva human rights group, Kemp added that "Israel did so while facing an enemy that deliberately positioned its military capability behind the human shield of the civilian population."

Apparently Kemp would be happier if Hamas actually attacked Israel so the fighting would be carried out in the middle of the Israeli civilian population.
The fact that Israel’s wars since 1973 have all taken place on the territory of their victims is proof that they are aggressive in nature, not defensive.
Forget about “independent”. UN Watch is a “human rights group”?! Well, if an expert on killing people in stupid illegal wars can lecture us on “safeguarding the right of civilians” – based on his “knowledge and experience” – I guess anything is possible.
Love your title. LOL.
I hear they have some documents to sell us about Iran buying yellow cake in Niger, while they’re at it. Really now.
British commander Col. Richard Kemp of UN Watch in Jewish Press: half way through the article switches from describing IDF as third person “they” to first person “we”.

Hasbara wheels him out as a definitive, objective answer demolishing Goldstone report.
Objective my foot.
I guess the colonel hasn’t read the Goldstone report?
PITY – While “Israel did so while facing an enemy that deliberately positioned its military capability behind the human shield of the civilian population” – Khartuom’s Islamists are not allowed to chase the rebels trained and funded by USrael.

Here’s Kemp back in July (with the super moral superiority of the IDF in mind?) telling how western soldiers should act: “I repeat, our people must be whiter than white. This requires the best of training and the toughest of discipline and it is sometimes even harder among conscript troops and mobilised reservists.
Here I am not just talking about serious abuses and breaches of the laws of war. I include smaller things like trashing people’s homes that have been taken over, or are searched or cleared. Like being as courteous as possible to civilians. Maintaining control over soldiers who have just seen their best mates blown apart is far from easy, but it is vital.”
Where there is genuine concern over our own troops’ conduct or action, we must not hesitate to conduct inquiries and investigations, and if necessary bring people to justice. As far as possible, these processes should be open.
UN Watch describes itself on its home page: “UN Watch is affiliated with the American Jewish Committee (AJC).” It also states it monitors how the UN discriminates against Israel.
You know what’s creepy to think about? If the League of Nations had survived, would the Nazis have had their own “League Watch” group funded by the “American Reinrassig Committee” to monitor how it was “discriminating against Germany?”
Israeli Finance minister says UN support of Goldstone Report is anti-semitic; Israel
is doing no more than defending itself in the manner as the US, Russia, and Turkey are doing and have done.

Wow. So now Israel defines anti-Semitism as crying out when children are shot at or bombed or peppered with white phosphorous.
Way to forward the interests of the Jewish people, Israel. Double points for accusing a fellow Zionist Jew (one with a modicum of integrity, even) of being anti-Semitic. One has to wonder if Goldstone is still going to be a Zionist after the AIPAC crew excommunicate him.
Actually this has added certain former or past leaders of USA, Russia, and Turkey to England’s as next up for trial after Israel at the Hague. Israel is saying, if you put us up for international criminal trial pursuant Nuremberg et progeny international court via Goldstone, we will put you up. Personally, I’d love to see Shrub,Chaney, and the USA neocons
sitting there, right along with Israeli leaders.
Here’s another example of “sly deceptions” in our media. CBS has an article expressing surprise that a panel of Middle East experts could all agree on attacking Iran –
The reporter, Dan Raviv (host of radio’s “CBS News Weekend Roundup”) doesn’t mention that WINEP is a branch of the Israel lobby. But something tells me he knows it very well. He is after all the author of Friends in Deed: Inside the U. S.-Israel Alliance, Vol. 1 with Yossi Melman.
Excellent OP ED in todays NY Times from the founder of Human Rights Watch.
Utterly destroying what little credibility it had left.

Bernstein very eloquently and unintentionally explains why it is so important for human rights groups to focus on Israel. Israel is completely misrepresented in the West as a free democracy and respecter of human rights, albeit with a few “warts”. If one of the main purposes of human rights groups is to draw attention to abuses that would otherwise go unnoticed by public opinion and policy-makers, then Israel is where it’s at. Specific documentation of abuses is important, but we all know that the Iranians and the Chinese are serial violators of human rights. How many of us know that Israel is? Israel is structurally racist and discriminatory, a brutal long-time occupier, torturer, illegal user of US arms (cluster bombs, white phospherous), and consistent abuser of Palestinian rights in so many ways. Yet, the founder of an important human rights group virtually absolves Israel, treating it as a free society (free for whom?!) and using the hackneyed hasbarah excuses that Israel may have a few problems but others deserve more attention, and Israel’s enemies “force” it to kill women and children in “self-defense”. In light of such disinformation, we need more, not less information on Israel’s violations of human rights. Good thing Bernstein’s gone and his successors at HRW are less hypocritical.
Hey Zionist, why don’t you actually PROVE with a substantiated argument why HRW fails?
Bernstein is a Zionist hack:
Are you kidding me? Human shield argument?
No one – NO ONE – has provided a substantiated argument w/ empirical proof and reasoned logic to refute HRW or AI or the UN, etc.
And this op-ed is just more of the same dramatics. If this report is so damn horrible, then it should be easy for a Zionist to produce a substantiated rebuttal.
Let’s hear it Julian.

I should say “these reports” as in plural. All the mainstream NGO’s revealed Israel for what it is, a murderous colonial State.
