Well, I think the treatment of native South Africans by the descendants of Dutch colonists is a much more apt analogy — I’m not conversant enough in the history of Zimbabwe to know how much colonialism was involved in those farms ending up in the hands of people who weren’t native Africans. That said, discrimination purely on ethnic and religious lines is always wrong, whether the victims are white, Arab, African, etc.
If you saw the hunger that Mugabe has visited upon the majority of black folk in Zimbabwe, you would weep. Horrible, gut-wrenching hunger. I watched women I thought were pregnant and in their 40s but, instead, were barely out of their teens walking in slow-motion, delirious, barely blinking into South Africa looking for food, their stomachs distended. Children walking with no more capacity for tears, their stomachs ready to burst from no food. The men were stealing the copper wire from telephone lines in S.A. to sell for food. Mugabe is starving his people to an extent that you cannot begin to imagine. Children eat dirt to survive, literally.
Mugabe gave the beautiful verdant farms to his friends, who have no idea and no interest in working the former spectacular breadbasket of Africa. They dont understand agriculture, wine-making, or distribution of farm goods, and dont care to; they only cared to get the white farmers off the land, and the thousands upon thousands of black lives these farms supported were meaningless to them. Hundreds of thousands of hectares, formerly beautiful farms — it was Rhodesia after all — are overgrown and now unworkable. Mugabe and his friends live off the foreign aid he gets, and they spend it in lavish style; they fly imported food and alcohol into Harare for themselves alone. Careen around the country in air-conditioned Mercedes’ with drivers. A year ago, Zimbabwe’s monthly inflation rate was 79,600,000,000%. The Cato Institute said the daily inflation rate was 98%, and it took 24 hours for the prices to double.
This is why, despite its best efforts, Israel can never be called an outpost of Western civilisation.
I’m afraid it can. That’s why Western civilization enjoys the level of respect it does in the rest of the world.

It’s what US politicians from the two big political parties chasing campaign dollars stand for. I wouldn’t say the US itself stands for that — but who’s to say the US itself even exists anymore, effectively? The more I look at it, the more it seems to me that 9/11 really was a fatal blow to the United States, because we willingly sacrificed what it means to be an American in a blind panic.
I mean, you even look at countries that were complicit in our war mongering, like Great Britain — there’s even talk now of prosecuting Tony Blair as a war criminal. Over here, the war criminals still get nightly time slots on cable news shows to evangelize.
