We’ve been following the Gaza Freedom March and its aftermath here on the site, but there was another Gaza-related march held around the same time. Check out this video (after the ad) from the Jerusalem Post:
The ending couldn’t have been better if it was made up.
(Thanks to Max Blumenthal for sending along the video.)

The cluelessness of the young woman who speaks at the beginning and near the end is, I suppose, typical of the narcissism of human beings in a conflict. The poor Israelis have tried everything to live in peace and harmony, from white phosphorus to settlements to checkpoints and administrative detention. What’s it going to take? In the meantime, atrocities will continue until morale improves.
one wonders how much they are told, especially knowing how hostile their leadership was towards the goldstone report… i think the idea of many of them knowing of there countries use of white phosphorus, let alone the infinite number of other examples of their countries hostility expressed regularly thru a special brand of racism is unlikely, or nil in the case with this women… yonira, tell me it ain’t you!!!
James, i think we are done calling me a women on here, some of the ladies who post on here have found it offensive and asked that we stop.
The ending is truly marvelous. heh! Physician, heal thyself.
Yep. A total farce from beginning to end, apparently.
Sad to see the grandchildren of holocaust survivors being the most ignorant people on the planet.
Even the wind that carried the “peace balloons” with messages penned by the children knows where the messages destination really needs to go. Unfortunately messages on peace balloons are not the only things Israeli children have penned –
UNFORTUNATELY A MORE REALISTIC EXAMPLE OF A “MESSAGES” FROM ISRAELI CHILDREN
Got anything else VR. That image might as well be the header here @ Mondoweiss, its been repeatedly posted on here.
One thing you guys aren’t on here is original.
Yorina:
Dismissing it, belittling it, doesn’t make it go away.
And how many times have you posted links to that photo of the Grand Mufti and Hitler? Or how about the same discredited faulty MEMRI YouTube translation?
How come Zionists all act like schoolyard bullies, anyway? Even on the internet, you feel the need to virtually run up and kick people in the shins, huh?
more of a sense of humour might change your view!
I classify Zionists in two categories:-
1 – The yonira, who are typical of the narcissism of human beings, as well described above in Donald post.
2- The less narcissist, more human but very well brainwashed by the yonira likes.
Actually I do have something else yonira, in regard to the “wind” (how it sent back the “peace messages” of the colonial settler children), in the sense of its personification – so you could look at this as purely and aside. The story of the wind also reminds me of Bobby Sands, who died in a prison in Ireland during a hunger strike for the freedom of his people from colonial oppression. It is a poem he wrote, as he froze having no clothes (he refused to wear the prison garb, be charged as a criminal, when he was a political prisoner) in the cold winds that swept that Isle, in the H block prison cell. Not unlike the thousands of Palestinians who are really political prisoners (not criminals) rotting away for no other reason that they are deemed wholly “other.” So, the unmatchable Bobby Sands wrote this poem that plays upon the cold wind :
“WEEPING WINDS
Oh! Cold March winds your cruel laments
Are hard on prisoners’ hearts,
For you bring my mothers pleading cries
From whom I have to part.
I hear her weeping lonely sobs
Her sorrows sweep me by,
And in the dark of prison cell
A tear has warmed my eye.
Oh! Whistling winds why do you weep
When roaming free you are,
Oh! is it that your poor hearts broke
And scattered off afar?
Or is it that you bear the cries
Of people born unfree,
Who like your way have no control
Or sovereign destiny?
Oh! lonely winds that walk the night
To haunt the sinner’s soul,
Pray pity me a wretched lad
Who never will grow old.
Pray pity those who lie in pain
The bondsman and the slave,
And whisper sweet the breath of God
Upon my humble grave.
Oh! Cold March winds that pierce the dark
You cry in aged tones,
For souls of folk you’ve brought to God
But still you bear the moans.
Oh! Weeping wind this lonely night
My mothers heart is sore
Oh! Lord of all breathe freedoms breath
That she may weep no more.”
‘tiocfaidh ar la!!’
“Our day will come!”
Show me one time I posted a picture of Grand Mufti and Hitler. It’s never happened. Prove to me that the Memri video is fake. You know what that is a photoshopped picture w/ the Israeli girl writing on the missiles too.
MEMRI lies and propaganda:
link to guardian.co.uk
link to arbeiterfotografie.de
As for the photo, perhaps I’m mixing you up with WJ. One of you two have a penchant for dredging that up. I take it, then, that you find the use of that photo as propaganda against the entire Palestinian people (and really, the Arab or even the greater Islamic world) dishonest as I do?
I’m trained to work with Photoshop professionally (now, granted, I’m still a student but I’ve done my coursework with Photoshop). I find it very unlikely that that photo has been doctored, as you insist. What is your proof that the photo is doctored?
Israelis usually start learning English in the 4th or 5th grade. This girl can’t be much older than that.
The hack who ‘created’ the photo couldn’t even put Hebrew on there. That combined w/ the fact that it came from the American Free Press, I have little faith in its authenticity.
Your links on the other hand had zero to do w/ the video in question. Perhaps you could take the video to you Arabic teacher and get an honest translation.
That’s assuming she didn’t emigrate to Israel from an English speaking part of the world, or didn’t have parents who did. Which, given Israel’s history is actually very likely. I don’t think I’ve encountered an Israeli yet (at least, one of Ashkenazi stock) who wasn’t fluent in English. Like say, the young gentlemen in this video:
link to youtube.com
Of course, and it’s difficult to see, but I believe those are Hebrew characters on the young lady’s shirt. As far as writing on the bombs? I see what looks like Arabic script on the bomb behind it, which of course makes sense for a tank shell one is intending to send into, say, a Palestinian mosque, or hospital or apartment building.
See, proof that the photo was doctored would really have to take the form of visual anomalies. I see none. In fact, you can very clearly see that the writing conforms to the shape of the shell with no irregular distortions (that would be characteristic of the use of a lattice warp to simulate that effect), and it has a sheen that reflects the prevailing light source of the rest of the scene to boot. In fact, all of the highlights and shadows are in the right place, as far as I can see. You see anything different?
We’ve already had people comment on the lack of veracity on that specific video. The links I posted demonstrate that MEMRI is nothing more than a public relations outfit for the Israeli government. Both articles list prior examples of translations and statements by MEMRI which were outright lies.
You know, any ignorant schmuck can declare photographic evidence to be a fraud and then fail to provide adequate justification for that sling. Holocaust deniers do that all the time, in fact. That you resort to those tactics yourself, yonira, leaves me ever so very shocked.
Thanks for your analysis Chaos.
Oh, no, I should be thanking you. Exposing your fraudulent accusations for the flim-flam that they are is really very good practice.
you are such a shmuck, hopefully some day you realize that. and for the record, I didn’t believe a thing you said, I was just being polite it seemed you put some work in that post.
Which Memri video is this? I speak some Arabic and I know others who are fluent in the language.
link to youtube.com
Thanks Sammy and anyone else who verifies the authenticity and/or fraudulent nature of this post.
Its a rather abrupt video. Is there a link to the whole speech? Its hard to tell if he’s making a speech or responding to one. I’ll send it across to someone who is good at finding the original speech and get back to you.
I have listened to the clip and I have to say that the translation is fairly true to the words being uttered. However, I must also add that the speech or event should be put in context. The speech was in Feb. 2008, what was the event and what were the circumstances is unknown. This is not to excuse or dismiss the clip but to warn about drawing conclusions–if scholarly and academic work is your concern. It is perfect for propaganda work though.
Context is everything. Anything, absolutely anything taken out of context can be spun into something else. That is why it is important to put things in context and interpret them not as disjointed and events unrelated to the context.
We all know and I for one deeply deplore the jingoistic and irresponsible utterances of those so called “leaders”. I believe this is one instance, and a very stark illustration, of jingoistic and irresponsible speeches that is meant as a pep talk.
I am not excusing nor I am dismissing the speech as irrelevant–no matter how stupid the utterance is it is relevant in the sense that Memri is using it. We have to be careful in our analysis though and look at the facts not at what the propaganda machines spew and there is a lot of that going on.
Thanks Aref, I was just wondering about its authenticity. I understand the context part which is quite important.
This has already been addressed, but if you really must insist on people coming around to help you make a fool of yourself, it shouldn’t be too long. I exposed your fraudulent accusation about the photo for what it is, but my command of Arabic is not proficient enough to handle this video (even if I have presented evidence that those responsible for it have lied blatantly in the past)
From the brief cut in the youtube, I can understand that he is saying every Palestinian is ready to face the Israeli bombs [man woman child even the old and infirm]. They will all stand together head to head. All ready to die for the cause of freedom. Kinda like Mel saying “You may take awr livesssssss but you cannae take our FREEEEEEEEEDOMMMMMMMSSSSSS!!”
You know, typical jingoism
Exactly. As has been pointed out before, the video says nothing about suicide bombers or human shields. It’s about Hamas telling the Israelis, “It doesn’t matter how many men, women or children you slaughter, we will not surrender our freedom to you.”
And as the Goldstone report shows, attacking men, women and children alike is exactly what the IDF has been doing.
Frankly I am puzzled about all this mental masturbation. Fatih Hamad is a member of legislative council of Hamas, so he is just a politician rallying around the predominant cause affecting his electorate. Israeli politicians who call the Gaza blockade a diet and speak about visiting the shoah on Palestinians are far more creepy than a politician under occupation [not to mention threat of kidnapping and being struck by missiles at any time of day or night simply for existing] who is rallying a desperate and hopeless people against a powerful military that picks them out from the air like the chickens they bulldozed.
where has it been addressed Chaos, you always make these claims, but can never back them up.
Thanks Sammy for giving me your honest opinion of what that said.
Aref answered my question honestly and I thank him for that. You on the other hand are so jaded by this cause that you need to try to skew everything to look like Hamas is perfect and does nothing wrong and Israelis and Israel is the true Satan.
I’ve admitted there is enough blame to go around, both sides do good and bad things, this is something which is impossible to you. You’ll realize someday when you grow up that lying and skewing peoples position won’t help you to get what you want, all it does it make you look like a fanatic.
Sure, but I’d still like to see the context. Context is very important.
e.g. is this antisemitic?
“Chelsea Clinton, the daughter of one of the most prominent families in American politics, has chosen a Jew for a husband. The groom-to-be, Marc Mezvinsky, is the member of a family of businesspeople and politicians. Further proof that Jews can be found in the very center of the American establishment: The former president and the current secretary of state will be the in-laws of a Jewish guy.”
See context:
link to ynetnews.com
Sammy, I understand context is important. I will refrain from using it for my own propaganda purposes because it was most likely taken out of context. But at the same time I wanted proof that it wasn’t a total fraud which I guess it was reported to be several times on this site by Chaos.
I don’t know if it was anti-semitism, Jews are found in the very center of American establishment. If the article mentioned some conspiracy by the Mezvinsky’s to control world commerce or the media then i’d be afraid ;)
In general, demonisation is a popular tool, both for breeding fear as well as for recruiting cannon fodder. Most problems in the world would not exist, if we recognised that in the same situation, most people would behave the same way. There is plenty of history to back up this assertion.
“lying and skewing peoples position won’t help you to get what you want, all it does it make you look like a fanatic.”
So perceptive of you, Yoni. Gosh, it’s a good thing Zionists never do that!
Human shields only work against a militry that is not willing to kill civilians. Israel has demonstarted that it is not concerned about such trivia.
Yonira, do you know what “Johnnies” mean in IDF? but the question i would like to ask you how many “Johnnies” were children, and women?
Interesting that the Israelis picked the name Johnnie for their conscripted human shields.
they are blinded by their hypocrisy, i would say from Dick Wittys point of view, its ok to use them as human shields as long as they are Palestinians and he would blame Hamas. Yonira would say they are suicide bombers , WJ will tell you they are not Jews, so its ok.
I’d like to see some proof of it before I judge either way.
Accusations and testimonies from phony sources are used way to much on here. Even when a source is accurate its considered phony on here if it doesn’t fit the mold of this site’s motives. Its really sickening.
Have you guys tried to pull these stunts on a blog or site which wasn’t dominated by pro-Palestinians? You all sit here and preach to the choir, there are less than 5 ppl on here who don’t share your views. It seems so futile, you aren’t ‘getting the word out’ isn’t the idea of activism to try and change the hearts and minds of those who don’t agree with you?
I will admit, my views of Zionism have changed, i am not the blind follower I was before visiting this site. But that is many man hours on the part of you guys to partially sway one person. At that rate this conflict and lack of resolution will last forever.
You don’t need evidence, just common sense. If a burglar broke into your house and shot you and your family, were you using them as human shields?
The IDF enters Gaza and bombs schools, hospitals and home. Gaza is under LOCKDOWN. If you were in Gaza, you would do the only thing you could, put your family in a safe place [even though there is none] and try to make sure nothing happens to them. Since Israelis attack from the air, your only chance of saving the people you love is to guard them with home made rockets to aim at any planes flying by. You would no more leave them unguarded than you would jump out of the window and leave your family when your home is under attack. To say that you are using human shields because you are in your home or with your family, is the height of absudity. Its like saying the IDF soldier in the bus that was blown up by a suicide bomber was using the passengers as human shields.
Try to dissociate from the terms and examine the facts. Put yourself in their place. If you knew that you could not run, hide or escape and you were constantly under attack for being a Jew, what would you do?
yonira,
some good sources on Israeli using Pals as human shields can be found at Btselem
link to btselem.org
enough or do you want more?
Yonira, I don’t know where you live, but if you live in the USA, what is your opinion of the objectivity of our news coverage (and lack of coverage), especially on TV (where most Americans get their news) concerning the I-P events and the related US government’s and our elected representatives’ complicity and funding of Israel’s activities? Single, individual Americans who care about the issues discussed on this blog don’t have many avenues.
I think it sucks Citizen. (I am an American in the US)
I do think the American legislators need to be stronger on Israel, especially when dealing w/ settlement building and the occupation as a whole.
I don’t buy the fact that its entirely because of the Lobby though, I think it’s their constituents also. Just look at Jimmy Carter’s latest ‘olive branch’ concerning Jews and Israel. He is trying to get his grandson elected, the Lobby doesn’t elect politicians, the voters do.
link to mcclatchydc.com
Note the paragraph referring to the 2005 decision of the Israeli Supreme Court ordering the IDF to stop using Palestinian civilians as human shields. Which means, of course, that they were routinely doing so, when they called it the “neighbor policy.”
Think about what you just wrote. If the lobby was not significant, why would Carter need to apologise for being right?
Sammy, those home-made rockets give the IDF the right to demolish the area they were fired from. Its in the Geneva conventions.
Try to dissociate from the terms and examine the facts. Put yourself in their place. If you knew that you could not run, hide or escape and you were constantly under attack for being a Jew, what would you do?
I would fight for an end to the conflict. I’d elect a government who wasn’t ran from a foreign country where they don’t feel the real impact of their decisions. I’d be willing to sacrifice to save my family. I would ask the same question you posed to me, to the majority of Gazans, they’d give you the same answer. Unfortunately, it doesn’t seem like there will be an election anytime soon, and reconciliation between Fatah and Hamas seems less likely than reconciliation between Israel and Fatah.
But to answer your question more directly, I would not fire any missiles which have little chance of doing anything. This just gives justification for the IDF to target them.
Hamas is not afraid to use Hospitals, Mosques, Schools, UN buildings as places to launch strikes from and store munitions. This is a war-crime in itself. Its a horrible situation for the Gazan people, their elected government is willing to put them in harms way to protect their militants.
In my opinion Israel made the wrong decision to bomb UN facilities(even if they didn’t level them), even if they are being used by Hamas, but like i said earlier, a building or structure is fair game if its used by the enemy as a base of attack.
yonira i recommend you this documentary link to youtube.com
yonira, can you tell us please why Zionists taught Israelis that everyone in the world hate them, and want to kill them? All my Israeli friends kept repeating this. Why they are still reapting crap like Arabs will kill us etc…
The Lobby is significant, but its not electing his grandson, the constituents are.
My point was, in terms of the legislators, its both the Lobby and their constituents, not just the lobby.
I should have emphasized the word entirely.
“Sammy, those home-made rockets give the IDF the right to demolish the area they were fired from. Its in the Geneva conventions…Hamas is not afraid to use Hospitals, Mosques, Schools, UN buildings as places to launch strikes from and store munitions”
Think about this. The Polish underground supplied inhabitants of the Warsaw ghetto with guns to defend themselves. Women and children were given these guns and used to go up on the roofs and fire at the German troops.
Now re-write your sentence:
“Sammy, those puny guns give the Nazis the right to gas the people who fired them. ”
And no its not in the Geneva conventions. Gaza/Palestine is occupied territory and Palestine is not a state. The Geneva conventions only apply to states, not to occupied persons. Resistance to occupation is a human right.
See here:
“The Geneva Conventions apply at times of war and armed conflict to governments who have ratified its terms”
link to en.wikipedia.org
Much of what passes for truth in the media is plain propaganda.
Were the Jews firing from gas chambers Sammy. My point was if someone fires a missile from a location that location is fair game. I didn’t say it was fair game for the Israelis to take the person who fired the missile, bring them to a gas chamber and fucking gas them.
And Sammy, so a person occupied has no legal obligations when they fight against their occupiers? Resistance w/ out rules of warfare is a human right?
Who is the anti-Israel senator, that you know of? Can you think of any?
I remember vividly how Freeman was shunted out.

“Were the Jews firing from gas chambers?”
No more than the dead Gazans.
An occupied person has only the obligation to survive. Read this and tell me what you think of it:
“Until the very end of the Warsaw Uprising, the Germans were not able to overcome this “underground” resistance in Warsaw. The sewer system remained solely the turf of the Polish underground fighters for the entire duration of the Warsaw Uprising. The Germans did not succeed in cutting off the sewer system located in the Zoliborz district from that of Warsaw’s Old Town. The author of these words took part in several crossings, using the sewers in the Zoliborz district, the last of which took place on August 30th, 1944 year and led from the Zoliborz district to Warsaw’s downtown district. During this crossing, the author was able to visit and carry out a reconnaissance mission nearby at the Jewish Cemetery on Okopowa Street and also in the New Town district.
The Germans were afraid of the sewers, and so what was the real essence of the fighting that took place there? I will recollect and tell about some of the fighting that took place in the sewers during the last days of the Old Town’s defense.
Sometime after the middle of August, the resistance fighters began to use the sewers leading under Bonifraterska Street, the Gdanski Railway Station, and Stoleczna Street. There is a sewer junction under the tracks of the Gdanski Railway Station where the main sewer lines of the city converge: A1 and A2 which run under Okopowa Street; B runs underneath Marszalkowska Street; and C from underneath the New Town district and Miodowa Street.
The sewers come together at a depth of about 12 meters under ground. The sewer tunnels were high enough to permit people to freely travel through them. The Germans must have noticed traffic between the Old Town and the Zoliborz district because from time to time they lobbed grenades under the manhole cover over this sewer junction. They would lower a listening device into the sewer well and patiently wait for any sounds coming from underneath. These methods forced the groups moving about through the sewers to act with utmost care, i.e. units transporting weapons, slightly wounded troops, civil population, as well as communication units. Not only was there no possibility of using flashlights in the sewers, but conversations were also forbidden. More than that, one had to move so as not to make any noise, like a cat. Just imagine the macabre-like procession of silent shadows in the deep darkness of a sewer tunnel. In an extremely difficult manner, the columns moved step by step over the rounded and slippery bottom of the sewers. One hand rested on the person in front, the other was placed on the wall of the sewer for balance. Such passage lasted for several hours. Under the dangerous manhole cover, i.e. one above which were Germans, one had to pass one person at a time and very quickly. Moreover this spot was even more unpleasant because in the A1 sewer one could encounter a rushing stream of water. A crossing was only possible by holding onto a chain or a rope placed on/across?/at? the spot. When we were crossing under that manhole with a patrol, it was hard to resist the desire to shoot up a series of rounds at the Germans.
During the night of August 25th to the 26th, the last columns made a crossing from the Old Town. Germans began erecting a heavy dam under the manhole cover on Muranowska Street. The purpose of this dam was to stop all traffic in the sewer, and even worse, to significantly raise the water level in the sewers under Miodowa Street, Krakowskie Przedmiescie, and the New Town district. The dam was well-built with wooden beams, steel beams, and sandbags. After 2-3 days, news came from the Old Town district that the raised water level in the sewers has already reached the vicinity of Krasinski Square. It was then the idea was born to blow up the dam using demolition charges. ”

Do you think they need a Cast Lead for their inability to accept their situation?
If you see the Palestinians as human beings, can you recognise them here?
““During the first intrusion into the Ghetto, the Jews and the Polish bandits, through the use of earlier set fires, were able to repel the forces committed to the fighting including tanks and armored vehicles… To prevent an escape to the sewers, the sewer system underneath the Jewish housing district was immediately flooded; this, however, was an illusion as a result of blowing up of the main water valves by the Jews.
Jews hid in the sewers and specially outfitted bunkers. In the first days, it was assumed that only individual bunkers existed. However, during the course of the long-lasting mission it turned out that throughout the entire ghetto there was an organized system of cellars, bunkers, and passages. Every passage and bunker had access to the sewer system. This sewer system was utilized by the Jews to cross underground to the Aryan side of the city.
The Jews were determined to defend themselves and in the process utilized every possible means and every weapon that was at their disposal. Under the Polish-Bolshevik leadership, the so-called fighting units were formed which were supplied with arms and paid any demanded price for the arms that were possible to obtain.
I decided to completely annihilate the housing district by burning down every apartment building including the buildings next to the armory.” “
Many errors here guys i don’t agree.
First of all, The 1949 Geneva convention has been ratified by every single member of the United Nations, so that’s the law. It’s not only treaty law, but it’s become customary international law. It applies to both sides Israel as a state, and Hamas as a non-state party, under customary international law. Even if Hamas is not a state, they are accountable for their actions during the conflict under the international laws.
Also even if Hamas was firing from infrastructures, IDF under Geneva conventions, can’t fire back at, because the conventions heighten the lives of civilians, its the absolute 1st priority.
I am glad Yonira brought to the debate the Geneva Conventions. Yonira do you know that the siege is considered a collective punishment which is prohibited under international laws?
Do you know that ‘Johnnie’ techniques are prohibited under international laws?
Could you show me where Palestine is a member of the UN and has ratified the Geneva conventions?
They are not, you are right but the United Nations Security Council (Resolution 446 Resolution 465 and Resolution 484, among others), the High Contracting Parties to the Fourth Geneva Convention, and the International Committee of the Red Cross, have each resolved that the territories discussed (Gaza and west bank) are occupied and that the Fourth Geneva Convention regarding occupied territories apply.
So how many resistance groups have been tried for war crimes under occupation?
i can’t tell but how many Hamas existed since the Geneva conventions was ratified?
Hamas by firing rockets at Sderot, it doesn’t respect the principle of distinction which is a part of the International laws and should be held accountable for this. Same for Israel but for Israel is list is too long to be cited here.
huh? Are you unaware of the many resistance groups in the last 60 years? The most famous one is Nelson Mandela’s Umkhonto we Sizwe which targeted civilians for decades under apartheid. The total number of civilians killed by them is unknown because there is no record of all their terrorist activities. Mandela himself spent 27 (?) years in prison under occupation for refusing to give up violence.
Most blogas are not as critical of Zionism as this one, but when you know your facts and the topic at hand, it’s not diffcult to combat the pro Zionists on any forum.
As for your theory about how long it wil take, I have a different take. I have a feeling that Israel will be a lot like the Berlin Wall. Once day it seems impenetrable and then all of a sudden, it’s gone. Change will seem slow in comming, but when it happens, it will be swift.
Sammy,
Warsaw GHETTO Uprising was Jewish uprising. Warsaw Uprising was Polish teenage goy uprising and is never taught or mentioned in any jewish or israeli education or upbringing.
With minuscule percentage of Polish Jews self-identifying with Poland, Polish struggle against German occupation is as inconsequential to them as, say, Moro rebellion to Swedes.
Its in the Geneva conventions that wars of agression, such as the raid of November 4th, are a war crime.
Its in the Geneva conventions that those under occupation have a right to resist.
Its in the Geneva conventions that settlemetns built on occuied territory are illegal. All of them.
Which was the one where only one bowl of soup was given per day to the people and weapons were smuggled through underground passages by the underground resistance?
“Were the Jews firing from gas chambers Sammy.”
No, but the Jews in the Warsaw Ghetto would have if they had them.
Thanks for responding to me, yonira. The Lobby is not directly financed by the Israeli government–that switch came with it’s name change. I’m sure you know the history of the organization from way back when it had the world Zionist in its name, later changed to AIPAC. However, although the Lobby does not directly elect USA politicians, it does so indirectly, and that is by pushing the
Israel First agenda via interstate flushes of single issue campaign money to the politician in any office contest in any state who most pushes the Israeli line. Or, do you dispute this? Additionally, in those voting areas where Jewish Americans are a significant voting force, the litmus test is the same. And too,
we have our very unbalanced MSM Fourth Estate when it comes to all things
involving Israel. Nothing much has really changed since Truman got all those single issue Zionist mail bags back in those days, the bags that pissed him off so much he burned them without reading them or having his staff read them; of course, he still needed money for his whistle stop campaign, and Dewey was perfectly willing to tow the Zionist line.
Voters are mental pawns to media propaganda, media cost lots of money;
most voters do not vote on US foreign policy issues; they are concerned only about the domestic issues of survival they directly confront. But you know all this, right?
Sammy, per your question, from the bottom of this link on the signatories to the Fourth Geneva Convention:
link to icrc.org
Palestine : On 21 June 1989, the Swiss Federal Department of Foreign Affairs received a letter from the Permanent Observer of Palestine to the United Nations Office at Geneva informing the Swiss Federal Council “that the Executive Committee of the Palestine Liberation Organization, entrusted with the functions of the Government of the State of Palestine by decision of the Palestine National Council, decided, on 4 May 1989, to adhere to the Four Geneva Conventions of 12 August 1949 and the two Protocols additional thereto”.
On 13 September 1989, the Swiss Federal Council informed the States that it was not in a position to decide whether the letter constituted an instrument of accession, “due to the uncertainty within the international community as to the existence or non-existence of a State of Palestine”.
Thanks I though the status was dubious. Just to clarify I am not defending the rocket attacks by Hamas anymore than I am defending the Jewish attacks on the Germans.

I didn’t think you were, sammy. I just happened to have looked that point up a few months ago when some morally-challenged individual claimed that Israel didn’t have to observe the Geneva Convention in the West Bank and Gaza because the Palestinians were not signatories.
Jews in Ghetto were allocated approx. 200 calories per day by German Administration of Polish Occupied Territories, Poles in the Occupied territories had approx. 1200 calories, and Germans had 2200 calories.
Ghetto organisations and Polish Resistance were smuggling food, people and weapons via sewers and link-ups between cellars on both sides of Ghetto walls.
Part of the Ghetto was allocated for well-to-do Jews, who could buy all the food they needed, but many Jews were dirt poor and not at all resourceful, were brought to ghetto with nothing, lived 20 to a room, and literally starved to death.
That explains Dov Weisglass’ reference “the idea is to put the Palestinians on a diet but not to make them die of hunger.”
this habit of putting up my name and saying what i would say, kinda sucks.
That young Israeli reminded me of something, somewhere, long ago:

While those people are marching in Sderot, Gaza children are telling their horrible stories, yesterday Jewel told her story in front of AlJazeera, link to youtube.com
Everyday, i ask myself where are the international media, why these children are forgotten totally by this coward world?
And today those who pretend protesting for peace, are preparing another war link to ow.ly
Thats the reality of Israel today.
Jewel’s narrative is compelling. A thirteen year old eye witness to the January 09 massacre in Gaza of nearly her whole extended family of some 48 men, women, children, babies.
Imagine Citizen if Jewel was Jew and her family got killed by Pals rockets? we would listen her story everyday and night. Double standards and impunity are enduring a huge feeling of injustice and anger.
Lotsa new Palestinian versions of Anne Frank abound these days, these days of speedy images, audios, print, and yet the Jewels don’t exist; reminds me how so many
know the name of the single IDF soldier captured and detained, while in contrast
the names of the thousands detained in Israeli prisons don’t exist except in esoteric arguments of just how many thousands they collectively are…
And then the foxes said to the hens, “we eat your eggs , but we still hungry for more!”.
This looks a lot like a spouse abuser sending red roses, complete with a love card, to the hospital room where his wife recovers from her bruises.
I’ve just returned from an exhibition of art by Gaza children, which included a very impressive child’s eye vision of a building collapsing under bombs and an ironical picture called ‘Did he have a weapon?’ showing a row of coffins and indicating how the Israelis, at least in the opinion of Gaza’s children, shoot first and ask questions later. This is the reverse of ‘human shields’ – if an armed force kills unarmed people rather than take even a slight risk of being shot at then those killed are human spears being hurled at the population which the armed force is attacking.
Of course I left the exhibition thinking gloomily of what mincemeat Zionist journalists would make of this one-sided (‘literally infantile’, they might say) insistence on Palestinian suffering and even more gloomily of how the attack dogs won’t need to be released beacause so few people were interested in or even aware of the event. A microcosm of the wider problem.
On a related note, Israel’s attorney general has decided to join the appeal (in a lost libel case) of five Israeli soldiers who participated in “Operation Defensive Shield” against director Mohammed Bakri, for his film Jenin Jenin – although the state will not be pressing criminal charges. Bakri’s big “crime” is that he let residents of the Jenin refugee camp speak about their experiences during the Israeli incursion – without “background” or “balance” – for which reason the film was banned, successfully appealed and then re-banned in Israel. Bakri argues that the Israeli perspective dominates western media and that he wanted to give ordinary Palestinians a chance to have their say – unmediated and uncensored.
When the film was screened in the Jerusalem Cinematheque (despite the ban) the chief army medical officer in Jenin, during the operation, was booed off the stage, when he tried to take Bakri to task, and provide “balance”.
Thanks for the info, Shmuel. As you know, on this blog, Dicky Witty is the official provider of “balance.” Yonira says there are only about five regular commenters on this blog who offer any dissent from the overwhelmingly pro-Palestinian tenor of the blog taken as a whole. One thing, over the last couple of years, many pro-Israeli commenters have settled here for a time, but most leave eventually, or morph into a new nickname after they’ve been booted off for their constant
vulgar and childish name calling and intentional repetition of historical fiction–most regulars here who care to comment our much more informed than the average US citizen about the I-P affair. Their frustration is that their own government puts their treasure and lives at stake for what amounts to a Paul Newman Exodus version of reality–all those Average Americans wondering why the world hates us, and blaming it on this world being psychopathic or childish–Imagine Ben Stein and Ron Paul arguing about American foreign policy’s impact on the world and whether or not the confessed admissions of terrorists (including to the 9/11 Commission and its aftermath ever since) is of any relevance.
