Followup to Qadir’s roster of speakers on Israel/Palestine

I’m proud to have published Qadir’s post about the NYU anti-apartheid event the other day. The best thing about this issue in American life is that it is attracting new people, such as Qadir. That said, he and I agree (and as editor, I should have been on this earlier) that the piece erred by suggesting that only Finkelstein, Abunimah and Chomsky are competent to take on the hasbara crowd in a public setting.

As Donna Nevel– who has a piece in Haaretz today on her plans to protest the IDF benefit in New York on Tuesday–points out, "I  agree with Qadir about the importance of knowing our stuff and also being able to communicate it thoughtfully and effectively to others, but I also think there are a lot of people who do that beyond the 3 he mentioned–Dorothy Zellner, Riham Barghouti, Abdeen Jabara, Hannah Mermelstein, and the list goes on and on of knowledgeable and thoughtful individuals from a wide  range of organizations and communities."

Thanks Donna!
