Friday in Bil’in

From the Friends of Freedom and Justice in Bil’in:

Despite the intense heat and high temperature, on the second Friday in Ramadan, a sizable march organized by the Popular Committee commenced from the center of the village right after the Friday prayers.

The protesters, consisting of many Palestinians and dozens of International and Israeli activists, called for the prosecution of the Israeli soldiers behind the recent Facebook scandal. Not only did one of the soldiers pose with bound and gagged prisoners, Eden Abergil, stated that she would "gladly kill Arabs – even slaughter them."

As the protesters neared the separation wall and approached the soldiers with pictures of other Israeli soldiers posing and torturing prisoners, teargas was fired heavily at the protesters and journalists. Clashes continued for hours when the Israeli military attempted to advance into the village.

Journalist Haitham Al-Khatib suffered minor injuries when the military attempted to arrest him.International activist, Evie, and Israeli activist, David, were arrested while they were peacefully demonstrating against the occupation. Their current whereabouts are unknown.

These protesters are courageous and willing to personally sacrifice for social justice. I have noticed over the years that we appear to have a severe shortage of such individuals…

Why, why, WHY do the soldiers (towards the end of the video) have a sight on a tear gas gun??

The IDF have guidelines on the use of tear gas. They need to find in an arc and not aim directly at protestors. Having a sight on a tear-gas gun suggests protestors are being deliberately targeted.

    Recall:
    • American art student Emily Henochowicz, shot in the face w/ tear gas canister, lost her eye.
    • Tristan Anderson, shot in the head w/ a tear gas canister, suffered massive brain damage, a vegetable for life.
    • Bassem Abu Rahmeh (Pheel), killed after being shot in the chest by a tear gas canister, at the weekly Bil’in protest in 2009.

I see the Israelis are about their same colonial fascist activity. Using violent swarm techniques to break up legal and non-violent protests. Their (IDF) techniques are done with such force because they are wrong, they cannot stand the reminder of their illegal occupation, theft and murder. The absence of the right to do anything always results in violence and overkill to make up for immoral condition.

  4. One of the sad realizations I came to after the IDF assault of Emily Henochowicz that resulted in her losing an eye (but not her decency and determined spirit), is that if protesters tried to make overt use of any sort of protective clothing (helmets, goggles, shields [good heavens!]), the IDF would interpret that alone as an aggressive act to [further] justify their brutalizing, maiming, and even killing of PEACEFUL protesters.

The answer to Israel’s repeated mock puzzlement over “where are the non-violent Palestinians?” is that they and their peaceful supporters of all stripes and nationalities are being put into hospitals and graves by those crying crocodile tears over the violence they pretend they are forced to commit.

And Israel’s new poster girl (Eden “the Psycho” Abergil) even skips the crocodile tears and goes directly to happily wanting to slaughter Arabs.

If you keep saying this sort of thing, the Israelis will charge you with intellectual terrorism…
