Another report that the Netanyahu-Barak government was fluttered to the point of
defensive reaction by the prospect of Obama's Cairo speech--
Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu told the Obama administration just two weeks after elected to Knesset that he supported the idea of a land exchange and had no desire to govern Palestinian territories, according to a diplomatic cable released by the online whistleblower WikiLeaks on Sunday.
"Netanyahu expressed support for the concept of land swaps, and emphasized that he did not want to govern the West Bank and Gaza but rather to stop attacks from being launched from there," read a February 2009 diplomatic cable describing a meeting between Netanyahu and a delegation led by Senator Benjamin Cardin.
Luckily for them, he had no plan to follow up the speech except the uninstructed shuttle diplomacy of "listening" by George Mitchell.

And BYahoo had a plan – and deployed it by unleashing the dogs of AIPAC
It’s worth noting from the Embassy cables Netanyahu’s particular vision for a Palestinian “state” ( from section 8):
The only limits on Palestinian sovereignty would be elements that affect Israel’s security. A Palestinian state must be demilitarized, without control over its air space and electro-magnetic field, and without the power to enter into treaties or control its borders.
Correct me if I’m wrong but, other than a more relaxed import/export system (which could be suspended at a moments notice since Israel expects to control Palestine’s borders) how is this any different than the current conditions imposed by Israel on Gaza? A “state” that is demilitarised, not in control of it’s airspace, borders, electromagnetic spectrum and unable to enter into treaties with other states is not even vaguely a state, it’s enduring military occupation.

The “humanists” say, “Palestinians must exercise self-determination, and create their own state.” Then they smash down the democractially elected government, clamp down militarily and refuse to allow Palestinians to actually self-determine and create their own state. But, hey, Zionism is a “moral work” and at least ethnic cleansing is “currently not necessary”.
Witty’s big on self-determination of a peoplehood–for his people. What do you think Witty thinks of Netanyahu’s version of self-determination for the Palestinian people?
