The Society of Professional Journalists is considering taking Helen Thomas’s name off a lifetime achievement award it gives out because of her statement not long ago about pervasive Zionist influence. From JTA:
““Ms. Thomas’ most recent remarks led to calls for a reconsideration of the issue by the executive board,” said Hagit Limor, president of the Society of Professional Journalists and an investigative journalist for WCPO-TV in Cincinnati.”
Jeff Blankfort wondered who Limor is. And he found out this from Limor’s employer, WCPO TV:
“Hagit Limor serves as WCPO-TV’s Emmy and national award-winning investigative reporter, but her journey began half a world away. She was born in Israel and moved to the United States when she was eight years old.”
I don’t know what to say. I don’t know what Limor’s feelings are about Israel. But Thomas’s comments linked above included this statement, which I believe to be true: “I can call the president of the United States anything in the book but I can’t touch Israel.”
